  1. It's called HITTING, not walking. Did you ever see a top 10 walking?
  2. My gut feel is that Tejada would be willing to agree to waive the right to demand a trade after 2006. After all, it would be at his own request that he'd be traded by Baltimore in the first place. If he wants out of Baltimore that bad I don't think he'd let a trade fall through because he isn't willing to waive that clause. The clause was intended to protect a player that was traded because his team wanted to trade him, not because he asked to be traded.

  5. MLB.com has a complete list of Rule 5 results (all phases).
  6. I think it's partially on Hendry; he could have overruled Baker and said it was time to get the surgery done. By delaying it I consider Hendry and Baker responsible for ensuring that Wood is ready to start the season. Him missing part of the season because of not having the surgery earlier is not acceptable and Hendry and Baker must answer for it if it happens.
  7. Sure, why not. Zambrano and Prior for Harris sound good to me.
  8. He was hurt but he came back for the second half of the season I believe. He was shut down early to have surgery. I remember that because he was on my fantasy team and messed me up by being hurt so much.
  9. He could probably be signed to a minor league contract even without taking up space on the 40 man roster if he isn't picked up by another team.
  10. I took courses in Basic, Fortran, and Cobol and used punch cards.
  11. Very, very nice John Lennon reference :D :D Especially appropriate considering that tomorrow (actually today, now) is the 25th anniversary of Lennon's death.

  13. Texas trades Soriano to Washington for Wilkerson, Sledge, and minor league pitcher Armando Galarraga. Link

    Bored...

I made a couple of trades before the draft last year. One was trading Abreu to Tim for MacPherson, Jackson, and his number one draft pick (which turned out to be Corey Patterson). I also remember trading one of my picks (I think to Raw), but I don't recall the details. These trades were after New Year's but before the draft. I believe they were agreed to, but not formally executed until the "fantasy baseball opening day" that all fantasy leagues had to comply with.
  15. I'm moving this post to Transactions. The Polls forum is used for posting actual polls; this is a link to a poll elsewhere.
  16. Fixed (I assume the Len Kasper reference was about the Furcal situation, which I think we've pretty much concluded was actually the cubs.com poster impersonating Len).
  17. If you're referring to Indiana State beating Indiana, unfortunately (since I'm an IU fan) you did read it right. Tonight seemed to be a night for small state schools to beat their ranked brethren. Northern Iowa beat Iowa tonight as well.
  18. What's your source on this? I heard it from some Aussie news station. Len Kasper told me about that trade (he even told me what flavor the chewing sticks are, but he swore me to secrecy). Or maybe it was the fake Len from the cubs.com board.
  19. Stop telling people not to make trade proposals. You don't know for certain what a team will or will not trade or accept in a trade. You're certainly entitled to say that you don't think a trade will happen, but others are entitled to propose them (as long as it's clear that they are their proposals as opposed to rumors that they heard). Time will tell what does and does not happen.
  20. I do remember the fake Len posting on cubs.com shortly after the real Len posted for the first time near the end of the season. That's a common imposter trick, doing something like omitting the "s" that most people wouldn't notice.
  21. The Cubs acquire Alex Gonzalez to play shortstop as part of the Juan Pierre trade with Florida. The same day they sign free agent former Cub Alex S. Gonzalez to play 2B. In a related move, Tim starts an NSBB contest to predict the number of times the Cubs get charged with an out for using an improper batting order because Dusty confuses the two Alex Gonzalezes. The prize is an autographed card of each Alex Gonzalez donated by DJAXXFAN.
  22. We're supposed to meet winter tomorrow where I live. Today, high of 68. Tomorrow, high in the upper 30s with rain all day, possibly ending as snow. :D
  23. It's like the TV series from a few years ago, Early Edition (which was set in Chicago). They get tomorrow's newspaper today. Except over there it's delivered by a kangaroo rather than a cat. :D
  24. My friend's boss's fifth cousin twice removed's stepfather's half brother's mother's hairstylist's mailman's parole officer claims there's more to the Furcal story. Apparently the Dodgers are going to hire Dusty Baker as manager, paying a substantial portion of Lowe's salary in a potential Lowe and Bradley to the Cubs trade as compensation for hiring Dusty. OK, enough wishful thinking. Back to reality.
