  1. Court-ordered mediation will begin this week in Minneapolis. The mediator will meet separately with representatives for the players tomorrow and the owners Wednesday, with formal mediation beginning on Thursday. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6330778
  2. UConn's Kemba Walker is holding a press conference tomorrow, reportedly to announce he's turning pro. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6331070
  3. there was just no point in me having both sandoval and mcgehee on the same team, since neither has eligibility other than 3B. i figured i'd just dump mcgehee and get a prospect for him. and so begins my rebuilding mode! might just put half my roster on the trading block and see what offers i get. I should have taken the offer for McGehee. I didn't know NCCF had one too, so I offered Freese to him because I would have had to cut him (or someone else) otherwise. Likewise I hadn't realized he made you an offer with McGehee as well. Apparently he made at least two offers hoping one of us would bite. Had you pulled the trigger before I did I would have accepted your offer of Freese for McGee (especially considering Freese still has one exemption remaining as does McGehee), but given the choice of either one of them (as I had) I like McGehee better than Freese. You snooze, you lose. :P
  4. Yeah. Lose a game on April 11, season over.
  5. I agree that it's too early to write the season off. I had the lowest score of the week and I know my team's better than that (Hamilton will start to hit the ball out of the park, Morales hopefully won't be out too much longer, and I now have the awesome Casey McGehee). There are 22 weeks in the regular season and three teams from each division in the playoffs; an 0-1 start isn't even remotely close to a death sentence.
  6. No can do. You're only allowed to change your wild card pick at the All-Star break. You can make two changes in groups A through D before the break (and two more after).
  7. I wish I thought of having minor league rosters in my active lineup the final week of last year. I could have lost when I needed to and been in position to draft (or trade) Bryce Harper. :D
  8. At first I confused him for Russ Ortiz. Doesn't really matter; they both suck.
  9. He seemed calm and collected when he was interviewed after the end of the tournament too.
  10. Jake McGee seems to have become quite popular all of a sudden; I got two different offers for him less than five minutes apart. Despite what he did to the Cubs today I think McGehee is better than Freese, especially in the power department. Plus, McGee for McGehee has an interesting ring to it. :D
  11. Arod scratched from tonight's game due to illness. Eric Chavez will start at 3B.
  12. In the White Sox-Rays game Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon was ejected for arguing a call that at first was in the Rays' favor but was then reversed. After he was ejected he did his best Carlos Zambrano imitation by ejecting all four umpires. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110410&content_id=17616324&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  13. Where's Moises Alou when we need him?
  14. You're allowed to exceed the three reserve spots if it's to bench starting pitchers to avoid exceeding the limit. You'll get an illegal roster message on Roadkill, but we ignore those if the only reason is to avoid going over 7 starts.
  15. McIlroy just re-gained the lead at -11.
  16. Assuming Tiger wins it (and I think he will) it will be the first time he comes from behind on Sunday to win a major. If he hadn't struggled yesterday he'd be close to having it wrapped up now.
  17. I find it harder to keep up with the way CBS has changed the layout of the team page. It used to be that there was a separate column for each of the next 7 days; now it's a column for today and one for the next 7 days combined. Not as easy to see at a glance which scheduled starts are during the current scoring period and which are for the next period.
  18. Did you remember to click on the Save Changes button? Changes don't save automatically; you have to click on the button. If that isn't the problem I don't know what is. Brian can adjust the points for the extra start.
  19. I'm quite sure that anybody with commish powers (I believe Tim has them as well as Brian) can adjust the scoring to remove the points for the extra starts. I remember a couple days ago that Brian said he wasn't going to be around much this weekend (that's why he wanted to resolve the McGehee issue quickly), so he may not be aware of the extra start issue. Still, it would be nice if Chuck set his lineups properly to avoid the issue in the first place.
  20. Agreed. That's one of the reasons we allow transactions in the first place.
  21. I think it's more likely Stevens stays up to replace Russell in the bullpen, if that's who takes the other open rotation spot.
  22. Now we know what the "family issue" that caused him to miss last night's game actually was.
  23. I hope we're not going to have to police him all year. He took over 24 hours to make his pick in both rounds of the prospect draft, he illegally placed Holliday on his DL, and now this. I don't know what his job situation is, but I wonder if he's really able to keep up with the league.
  24. Yep. \:D/
  25. I may not have worded it clearly, but this is what I had in mind. Basically treating it as if the midweek switch never happened.
