  1. And he'll probably still be sent back down so Koyie Hill can stay on the team. :-x
  2. It would be justifiable homicide, not murder. You'd get a ticker-tape parade.
  3. You can now submit picks at any time. The deadline for entering the contest and making picks is 12:00 P.M. Eastern time on Thursday (the First Four is not included). You can change picks if desired up to the deadline.
  4. The Big East had the following seeds: 1, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6, 9, 11. I mean, it's pretty much a nightmare keeping them out of the same pods, even if you fudge their seeds to try to prevent it. There was plenty of room in the 2-7-10-15 pods for teams. Easy enough to bump, say, UConn to a 2 and Cincy to a 7, swap Marquette back to the other pod, and boom, no conflicts. UConn would have certainly been a much more deserving #2 seed than Florida anyway.
  5. Wandy Rodriguez is going to miss his next scheduled start due to shoulder tendinitis. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110313&content_id=16931056&notebook_id=16931062&vkey=notebook_hou&c_id=hou Time for Greinke to need TJS. :D
  6. According to Wikipedia they don't have an automatic bid.
  7. Keep in mind also that the TV deals the NFL signed will be paid out even if there is no football this year. So while the players are sitting at home gaining little to no income, the owners are still drawing in plenty of revenue. I don't see how the players can win a standoff with the owners. I thought the TV revenue deal for '11 was struck down by a judge recently. Yes; Judge Doty struck it down a couple weeks ago.
  8. Gary Wichard, the suspended NFL agent whose improper relationships were at the heart of the UNC scandal, has died at 60. He has been battling pancreatic cancer for the past year.
  9. You did put it in the General Baseball forum, not the Cubs forum, so one could reasonably question whether it was the former Cub.
  10. Caridad and Gaub optioned to Iowa.
  11. Definitely not true.
  12. Doesn't look like he's expected to come back very well after his injury that costs him almost the entire 2025 season with the Sox.
  13. Apparently Miggy threatened to kill everybody in a restaurant and blow it up about a half hour before his arrest. Nice guy. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6199383
  14. Minor detail, but most lineups include a second baseman.
  15. And fined $250,000.
  16. ...by the bye? In my local television station's ACC tournament pick'em contest #1 UNC vs. #16 bye, #2 Duke vs. #15 bye, etc. are actually listed as games to submit picks for.
  17. No more Knightlife in Lubbock.
  18. They haven't in the past when it was just one play-in game, but I didn't know whether this year would be different since there are four. My guess is they wouldn't because there wouldn't be much time to submit picks following the announcement of the brackets if the play-in games did count.
  19. With Selection Sunday only a week away I've renewed the Pick'em group from last year. Those who participated last year should have received an e-mail from Yahoo with a link to join. For those who did not participate last year, or for those who did but didn't receive the invite (for example, if you've changed your e-mail address since last year) the group ID is 26745 and the password is gocubs. The scoring I've used the past couple of years with bonus points for picking upsets didn't seem to be very popular, so this year I'm using the Yahoo default system which is based simply on correct picks (1 point for the first round, 2 for the second, up to 32 for the championship). This makes each round worth 32 points. With the expansion to 68 teams this year I'm not sure whether the first four games are included. The information in the Yahoo help section indicates not, but that information appears to be out of date (it only mentions one early game and it gives last year's date for the first Thursday).
  20. My only gripe was the telecast was in SD even though the DirecTV guide said it was in HD. They definitely picked the right game to televise today though.
  21. Nice to have at least one game telecast that doesn't conflict with conference tournaments or the NCAA tournament.
  22. I'm in the minority that voted for anybody not taken in last June's draft, but the more I think about it major league experience only would probably be easier to verify since you wouldn't need to remember when they were drafted. Chances are that if a player is expected to start the season in the majors this year he's probably had at least a cup of coffee last September anyway. Somebody without previous major league experience could be taken in the prospect draft, then promoted if he starts the season in the majors.
  23. Ten years ago today was a dark day in baseball history. It was on that day that the Veterans Committee inexplicably elected Bill Mazeroski to the Hall of Fame, an abomination that led to the reform of the Committee which resulted inthe snubbing of Ron Santo.
  24. Makes me think of Hank Gathers.
