  1. According to an nfl.com article Duerson himself asked that his brain be donated for research. He apparently made the request in a text message to his family and asked specifically that the left side of his brain be examined.
  2. Offer sent. I think my offer is exactly what you indicated an interest in.
  3. Not when there's a 700+-page politics thread and a 900+-page movie thread in Social. I do think it could become the longest thread actually related to baseball, though.
  4. I knew his retirement would generate one more half-shirt joke. :D
  5. i prefer to encourage posters who repeatedly ask easily-answered questions to actually use the internet to answer those questions. Especially teachers who probably expect their own students to look it up.
  6. They were both on the Twins in 06 and 07.
  7. How about my 9th and 10th round picks? That's multiple picks. :D
  8. Contract extensions for Tice along with Spencer, Babich, and Hoke.
  9. Different people seem to be getting access back at different times. I got it back later than some but earlier than others. It seems to be related to when your ISP refreshes domain names (which isn't the same time for all ISPs). Apparently the domain name was temporarily lost but now re-established, and it's just a matter of members getting access back when their ISPs refresh.
  10. I added him.
  11. My first year in the league was 2005, and I don't think Tim has won a single league championship since I've been in the league (even though he had an undefeated regular season my first year). I do think he won the championship the year before I joined. So I agree with you that there isn't a problem here.
  12. I wonder if Brian entered the time as midnight Feb. 14 and CBS interpreted that as meaning at the end of the day rather than the beginning. I know midnight is technically the beginning of the day but not everybody thinks that way.
  13. Sorry, Meph wins and it isn't even close. Just ask him.
  14. shut it, whippersnapper. I was already 23 when that game happened YOU shut up. I was 38. (Waiting for Fred to tell me to shut up.)
  15. I can't imagine the Bears refusing permission. I thought it's always been standard courtesy to allow a coach to leave for another team if the position would be a promotion. If it would be a lateral move that would be another story.
  16. Todd Collins' replacement as Bears' backup QB. :D
  17. I had already proposed the draft pick trade to Navin before you posted this and he accepted it today. If it's reset due to changing the draft date we can execute the trade again, so there shouldn't be any problem.
  18. The 12-step program can coincide with the 12 months of recovery following the inevitable TJS.
  19. 15 days until the first Spring Training game, 47 days until Opening Day.
  20. It seems to me that some of us have stopped drafting or trading picks for future years once it gets past 10 rounds. Personally I think that's sufficient; once you get past that you can probably do as well by picking up free agents as by continuing drafting.
  21. Two years ago I marked my major leaguer keepers but didn't realize you also had to mark your minor leaguers, so after the deadline had past I no longer had a minor league roster. Fortunately Juan was able to restore it. Marking keepers and having the rest of the players dropped automatically is a nice convenience, but you do need to be careful about it.
  22. Former major league player and manager Chuck Tanner has died at 82. He played for the Cubs among other teams. He managed the White Sox during the early 70s and was manager of the Pirates' 1979 World Championship team (We Are Family). Much like happened later with Lou Piniella, Tanner was once traded for a player (the Pirates traded catcher Manny Sanguillen and cash to the A's for the rights to hire him as manager).
  23. One of the Narron brothers I think. Correct. Jerry Narron was manager of the Reds at the time. Hamilton knew the Narron family because they are from North Carolina, as is Hamilton. They were a large part of his support system when he was putting his life back together.
  24. I should be available the entire week of March 7; that is our spring break and I'm not planning any extended vacation during that week. That doesn't mean I think we should wait that long to start the draft, just that I'll be likely to be able to draft quicker when my turn comes around during that week.
  25. 9.2 million viewers counting all of the re-airings. Most watched Puppy Bowl yet.
