  1. Got you beat there NC. I was able to take on Pujols & King Felix. =D> Conceded, but I still think I did well even if you did better.
  2. I don't think there will be a long-term lockout either. Perhaps there will be one immediately after expiration of the current CBA, but I'd expect it to be resolved by the beginning of training camp if not earlier. I too think the season will expand to 18 games with preseason reduced to two games and a second bye week. A couple changes I'd like to see, even though I haven't read anything about them being considered. First, I'd like to see an NBA-style soft cap rather than a hard cap, where teams would be allowed to exceed the cap to re-sign their own players but not to sign players from other teams. I'd also like to see reform of the rules for injured reserve, specifically to allow a team to place a player on IR for a specified number of weeks without missing the entire year (similar to the physically unable to play list, where a player misses at least the first six games of the season, but extending it through the entire year). I'd also like to reform instant replay so that a team has as many challenges as needed until they've had two unsuccessful challenges. I don't think a team should be out of challenges after a successful one, because that is really punishing a team for the officials' mistake. Also, I'd like to see a team given the option of taking a delay-of-game penalty rather than burning a time-out after an unsuccessful challenge.
  3. I just read the Jan. edition of Vineline. The entire edition (except for the first page or two) is devoted to Ron.
  4. Big Ten outscored 183-83 today.
  5. One of the advantages of sucking as much as I did last year is having few enough points to be able to take on both Hamilton and Lincecum. :D

    I'm out

He posted that information earlier in this thread (if I counted correctly it's the 7th post in this thread).
  7. New Pittsburgh coach Mike Haywood has been arrested on a domestic violence charge and is being held without bond in South Bend.

    I'm out

I've been in trade discussions with Navin, so I think your assumption that he's returning is safe. I'll send my payment once I return home from vacation next week, so Tito and my fingers won't need to be introduced to each other. :D
  9. I just noticed that I outscored the two teams in the 3rd place game combined, yet still lost my game by more than 30. Payback for the couple of weeks (including the first round of the playoffs) where I was near the bottom of the league in scoring but still won.
  10. Congratulations on the championship; your team completely domiI can't complain too much; in the four years this league has been in existence I've had two championships, a runner-up, and a 3rd place finish. If only the Cubs and Bears could put up such a record.
  11. Not until he gets 10 more fantasy points. :P The fumble he just lost won't help.
  12. Do it. It's money in the bank.
  13. If the Bears beat the Packers, isn't there no chance that Philly can be ahead of the Bears? No. They could be tied, but the Bears would win the tie-breaker because they beat Philadelphia head-to-head.
  14. Mike Singletary has been fired.
  15. OK, these jokes are starting to get old (I realize you're not the only poster who makes them). I have three teams that I root for, and I have a clear pecking order (Bears, then Colts, and lastly Panthers). I grew up a Bears fan because I spent most of my childhood north of Chicago, then I was living in Indiana when the Colts moved from Baltimore to Indianapolis, and I had moved to North Carolina a year before the Panthers' inaugural season.
  16. Correct. Rashard Mendenhall of Pittsburgh was originally credited with exactly 100 yards against the Jets last week, but that was due to a scoring error where he was credited with 10 yards on what was actually a 9-yard run. The error was corrected and Mendenhall is now officially credited with 99 yards.
  17. With the Bengals beating the Chargers today the Panthers have officially clinched the #1 pick regardless of what happens next week. Otherwise it could have been a tie between the Panthers and Bengals, and I'm not sure how the tie-breaker would have played out.
  18. #2 seemed a lot more likely before Kitna went down. Some guy named Stephen McGee will not lead Dallas to a road win in Philly, although I'll admit he didn't look too bad last night. Under normal circumstances I'd agree, especially with Philadelphia having something to play for. Dallas having an extra day rest while Philadelphia is two days short is not normal circumstances.
  19. I'm getting trounced in the championship game, but at least for awhile I was able to brag about my kicker (Janikowski) outscoring Peyton Manning. That changed with the Colts' last TD, though.
  20. The postponement could indirectly help the Bears. With the Eagles having to play next Sunday on two days short rest it could increase the chances of the Cowboys pulling the upset (that is, if Dallas can find a kicker that doesn't miss extra point attempts).
  21. The storm is just getting its act together in the southeast. It's supposed to give us up to 10 inches in some areas in North Carolina, then explode as it moves up the coast. New York is under a blizzard warning, and I'd think Philadelphia would get it hard too.
  22. neither has oklahoma. Chaminade is D-2? Huh. My point still stands. They are D-2 now. They were NAIA back when they were famous for beating Virginia and Louisville.
  23. I'm quite sure you're right about that. At one time older threads were deleted to try to fix frequent board crashes, and I think the Nomar thread was in the batch that was deleted.
  24. The long-anticipated battle between Cutler and Sanchez may not happen. Sanchez's shoulder injury seems to be a bit worse than previously thought and he'll likely be a gametime decision. Ryan still says Sanchez is 80% likely to play, but a day ago it was 99%.
  25. The Colts have placed Austin Collie on IR after his latest concussion.
