  1. He's not throwing strikes.
  2. That's really really really really really really really really really really unfortunate, because they're one of the best teams in baseball.
  3. I don't see what this has to do with anything.
  4. Yeah, I'd like to see Gallagher stay in the rotation, and Hill take Marquis' spot. Lou sounded last night like he's had enough of Marquis.
  5. I'd like to formally retract this post. Thank you. I'd like to take this moment and retract any posts I made similar to that one. Poor Felix. Poor Felix and his .596 OPS over 240 career at bats. If he looked at all like he knew how to hit a baseball right now, I'd be more sympathetic.
  6. Lou, lou, lou, lou, lou ](*,) Five walks in 10 innings against AAA hitters is not good.
  7. actually it is probably more like 40%, unless prior is exempt from paying taxes like the rest of us. 40% of 15 million is still a lot of money for playing a game. Speaking as someone with absolutely no experience having money, I still suspect people overrate it's effects on happines. I've never perceived that being rich makes life any more fulfilling than otherwise. It just makes it easier.
  8. If Lou Piniella wasn't the worst manager in baseball, the Cubs would have won all of these games.
  9. =D> please tell me this was intentional You're thinking of "third leg."
  10. Felix Pie should be so lucky.
  11. 1,627-1,512. That's a .518 winning percentage. If you remove the Tampa Bay years, which were some of the worst teams ever assembled, his winning percentage goes to .538. What's Dusty Baker's? And make sure to remove the '06 Cubs cause that was a horrendous team. HAHAHA.

  13. Or at any point in Cubs history, it seems.
  14. I think there's a good chance he will, but that blurs the larger picture, unfortunately.
  15. I really, really wish the Cubs would give Pie some consistent playing time. But if they flat-out won't do it, I'd be more than fine with that line against right-handers. That's assuming he only plays against right-handers, of course. I suppose that a strict CF platoon of Edmonds and Johnson could possibly, maybe produce an .800 OPS. I could live with that. Again, I'm grasping at straws to look for positives here.
  16. Criticize Lou all you want, but this wouldn't be happening under Dusty Baker. Being better at Dusty in teaching patience at the plate isn't all that impressive. Oh, and I credit Perry more than Lou for this particular change. Agreed. Never, ever, ever give credit to Lou. For anything.
  17. In the last 15 years, Loria has more World Series titles than any other owner besides Steinbrenner. Loria has one world series title. By accident. He was sent to Florida to torpedo that team the way he was set up to torpedo Montreal for contraction's sake. Larry Beinfest screwed everything up. My mistake. I thought he'd owned the team for longer than he has.
  18. In the last 15 years, Loria has more World Series titles than any other owner besides Steinbrenner.
  19. Who cares? There's no salary cap for a coach, and the Bulls have more cash than any other NBA team. This is just Reinsdorf being cheap.
  20. Hey, why would anyone pay $136 million for a watch? You can get a nice Rolex for a fraction of that price.
  21. I'm not big on the team chemistry/clubhouse unity thing that people talk about, but I firmly believe that Bonds would actually be harmful here. I'd have to think all the negative attention and distractions from having Bonds on the team (not to mention his atrocious defense) would make it not worth it.
  22. Agreed. I believe their site has more info if anyone is curious. I was. And I'm *reallly* glad I wikipedia'd and didn't just go to the site. A wise, wise move.

  24. That's pretty poor reasoning. really? why? they've lost every tinkered-with game. if i remember correctly, they shuffled the rotation to allow marquis (and not hill) to start against the brewers. they lost. hill was then nine days removed from his last start when he threw against the cardinals. they lost that game. and lieber, who took hill's spot in the rotation, got battered today. they lost. you really don't see how this rotation shuffle hurt the cubs? I don't think it's the reason they're 3-6.
