  1. That's pretty poor reasoning.
  2. Maybe because I just traded Scherzer for Soriano in my fantasy league. Thank you, Yahoo! hype machine. Jesus H, how is that even allowed? To be fair, the guy is in last place and it's a keeper league. I did throw in a decent draft pick. Still, I'm obviously happy with the deal.
  3. Sure. I think his success is mostly because he's just laying off those pitches he can't hit. I think it looks like he's tightened his swing up a bit, but I think his approach has really, really helped. That's probably the biggest thing - he's waiting for those pitches he can hammer, and he's doing it. Certainly, I am more than happy to be wrong about Cedeno if he keeps this up. I sure hope he does.
  4. I hope you get a job soon so I don't have to read as many of your posts. That's just my opinion though.

  6. I enjoyed the Randall Simon Experience here in Chicago.
  7. Maybe they should have left him in for 3-4 innings, and let him walk 12 guys. That would have made it even better.
  8. You better watch questioning him, he might get mad at you. He can freaking bring it. He's couldn't get half as mad at me as I am at him. Oooooooooooooooooh.
  9. You can criticize Lou's handling of the team all you want. Calling him a huge douchebag is entirely inappropriate. Yeah, namecalling is wrong, I shouldn't call him a douchebag, but it's the best way I could think of summing up the way he's acted this year. Saying he's acting like a classic macho jock who refuses to be questioned and publically calls out others for not being the same macho-headed jock doesn't quite have the same ring to it. I'll agree that Lou can be a little too macho/tough guy sometimes. I just think he's a better manager than a lot of people give him credit for. Really, I think all fans wind up hating their managers eventually.

  12. Thanks for the needless hysterics.
  13. What I find interesting is Dusty and now Lou has handled him the same. It's not a coincidence. Only Lou's a bigger douchebag, and Dusty was a bigger tactical buffoon. Geez.
  14. He hasn't been throwing strikes ever since he showed up in Mesa this year. To be honest, I'm worried he's hiding an injury.
  15. Ridiculous. Hill is a frigging major-league pitcher. He should be able to throw strikes after skipping a start. He had side sessions and bullpen work. It's not like he didn't pick up a baseball for six months. Why are people here to ready to apologize for certain players and so ready to jump all over coaches? Why does the coaching staff deserve the benefit of the doubt? Their awesome 85-win season? I never said they did. I just think it's weird to blame the coaching staff, and not Rich Hill, for the fact he couldn't throw the ball 45 feet last night.

  17. Yes. And I think their belief in that knowledge causes them to win fewer games than if they just knew what we know. Haha.
  18. Does anyone think it's possible that maybe Lou Piniella and the other coaches (you know, those who are actually around Rich Hill every day) know something that all of us don't? They've got an up close look at his mechanics, his demeanor, etc. I don't think they're yanking him around just because they think it's fun.
  19. ERA doesn't mean anything. You of all people should know that. They're not throwing him away. It's very clear to anyone watching that something is majorly wrong with Hill's delivery. Last night was one of the worst pitching performances I've ever seen -- he wasn't anywhere near the strike zone. His mechanics are completely out of whack. Whether that's due to Hill or Rothchild's tinkering, I don't know. But he needs to get it figured out, and soon. I'm not one to believe that Rich has "mental approach" issues or whatever, but this is a pretty big problem. He better get it turned around, or it's going to be a tremendous -- and unfortunate -- waste of talent.
  20. Are we sure he'd spend a ton on payroll? I know that's why most Cubs fans are excited about him, but I'm just wondering if he'd really boost our payroll significantly. I'd love for him to come in and spend $175 million a year, but I don't know how feasible that is. Just a minor, unfounded worry at this point.
  21. I'm in a standard 5x5 league, except we use OBP instead of AVG. Someone offered me Brandon Webb for Ryan Braun. I'm tempted to take it for two reasons: 1. I can slot Evan Longoria into 3rd base and still get decent production 2. With our league counting OBP, that probably diminishes Braun's value a little bit Anyone have any other thoughts? I'm in decent shape in offensive categories, but probably use a little pitching help (Smoltz, Liriano, Harden have all busted for me).
  22. You know what I'm fed up with? People taking one-line blurbs from a random source and treating it like the ironclad truth and then using it as an opportunity to talk about how they're smarter than Lou Piniella.
  23. Because the Brewers hammer lefties.
