  1. That NEVER happens at other ballparks! Look, I know you're frustrated that Dusty Baker is your favorite team's manager. And I understand. It hurts. It's painful. And it dooms the Reds to probably another few years of losing records -- which I'm sure you're used to, since 12 of the last 16 years have prepped you. But don't take it out on us obnoxious Cubs fans. We're just doing the best we can while going through life drunk, gay and uninterested in baseball matches. In short, go Cubbies!
  2. Not a huge fan of the move. I appreciate that Lou is trying to get Hill out on a positive note, but I would have gone another inning.
  3. That's a pretty good point, considering they're (probably) fans of a team that has made the playoffs once in the last 17 years.
  4. your avator is wicked! No, that's Michael Jackson.
  5. There's a reason Lofton hasn't been signed by anyone. He'd probably be the worst defensive center fielder in baseball.
  6. The outs count the same statistically, yes. But when you're evaluating a guy and he can't even make contact, that's worse than a guy who is at least putting the ball in play. Felix can hardly get the bat on the ball at this point. He's got a lot of work to do.
  7. Why? Did he remove Hill from the rotation yet? Read his quote again. He doesn't say anything about removing Hill. He just sounds concerned with how Hill is pitching, and that's justified.
  8. I don't think Lou is ready to pull Hill from the rotation now. I think he's just saying that Hill needs to get things straightened out. And he's right about that - the guy has looked awful for weeks now. You all shouldn't be so eager to freak out about short quotes in the newspaper. If you look at the quote again, it's the REPORTER saying that it might be an option. Lou himself never actually says he's thinking about pulling Hill from the rotation. He just says he needs to get things fixed.
  9. He's 38 years old.
  10. Duncan does great with certain pitchers. However, he tries to turn every single pitcher has into a sinkerballer, regardless of their abilities. He and Anthony Reyes have had major clashes, simply because Reyes throws a four-seamer.
  11. I'll buy into that. Soriano has been noticeably worse in his career with men on base. Bases empty (2,819 at bats): .865 OPS Runners on (1,694 at bats): .799 OPS Since this spans over thousands of at bats, and is a pretty marked difference, I'd say there might actually be something to it. Why, I don't know. In fact, he gets worse as the "pressure" builds: RISP: .765 OPS RISP 2 outs: .740 OPS Bases loaded: .735 OPS It doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it's still interesting.
  12. I doubt it. I mean, how long could those conversations have gone on? Mark: I wonder if I'll need to uproot you guys. Wife: Maybe. If you get traded somewhere, I guess so. Mark: Yeah. You're right about that. Daughter: Daddy, are we going to have to move? Mark: I don't know. I'm wondering about that. Wife: Yes, me too. Mark: Yup. I just don't know what will happen. Wife: Do you think this will affect your defense? Mark: If I have to keep wondering if I'll get traded, it will. Daughter: Are you getting traded, Dad? Mark: I just don't know. I keep thinking about it. Wife: Don't forget to eat today, honey. Mark: Like I have time for that. did everyone miss the greatness of this post? the last line by derosa is amazing. Well, I'm glad SOMEONE appreciated my efforts.

  14. This argument makes no more sense now than it did in the game thread.
  15. In his pants? I can tell when my two year old is going. He kind of goes off into a corner by himself and squats. mine just gets quiet, then says "Me Poopy" There's a ballgame going on, people.
  16. If Fuku keeps this up, he's going to go back to Japan for a challenge.
  17. is it not justifiable? I dunno, people saying they feel sick and are going to puke and are going to get wasted seems a little bit much to me. The game isn't even over. It's also April 7th. Did you miss the part where we spectacularly blew a 7 run lead? Is it too much to expect a team to hold 7 run leads? Holy crap, no. I missed that. I just threw up all over my keyboard.
  18. Maybe giving up a fly ball that should have been caught, followed by not letting the ball leave the infield?

  20. On the bright side it means Pie will be in for defense. Haha "pull" and "johnson" in the same sentence
