  1. Definitely satire.
  2. Mary Prior has a vagina and can only throw towels. Just getting it out of the way.
  3. Sounds like normal wear and tear for a 28-year-old.
  4. It's so confusing when you two post back-to-back.
  5. i will say it yet again, the cubs had the 5th highest payroll in major league baseball last year. renaming the ballpark isn't necessary to be financially competitive; renaming the ballpark doesn't guarantee anything except that the ballpark has a different name. I totally see your point, and I agree. One could argue that the Cubs' payroll should be much higher -- more in Red Sox territory -- due to a huge media market and such a large following. But that isn't really related to this discussion.
  6. No, I'm saying that because there is a difference. You're sucking the joy out of being a Cubs fan. It's not just about winning. Winning = joy
  7. I just find it hard to believe that this would actually affect anyone's experience. Would anyone be sitting in the stands during a game and think, "Man, this is not as much fun. I'm totally aware of the fact that this is now named 'Home Depot Field.'" You might be outraged now, but if the naming rights are sold, I think everyone will forget and go back to paying attention to baseball.
  8. I think that baseball has a few really good GMs, a few awful GMs, and then a bunch of guys who are fair-to-mediocre. Their success is largely dependent on luck and a lot of other factors not in their control. Hendry falls in the middle of the pack somewhere, IMO.
  9. Oh. That's right. I went there.
  10. I don't want to come off sounding too gay . . . What's gay got to do with that?
  11. GEOVANY SOTO Nothing much, I guess.
  12. Damn all of you to hell.
  13. What? It's "Am I right?" but shortened. Gross.
  14. I still call it Comiskey. And it's a flipping NAME of a ballpark. Who really cares? There will still be baseball, there will still be ivy, there will still be sun and girls in tank tops and beer and, eventually, failure to win a World Series. I'm neutral about the situation.
  15. I think the other GMs would say, "He's had 688 major league at bats and he's been awful. He couldn't hit Daryle Ward's ass if he was standing eight feet away, and isn't he the guy who was thrown out while trying to advance to second base on a walk?"
  16. God, he looks like Wes Borland.
  17. I think opposing teams do more research than that when evaluating players. I don't think their opinion of Matt Murton is going to drastically change because Lou said some nice things about him. Do you really think Angelos would come running into MacPhail's office and say, "Andy! I read in the Tribune that Lou said Murton is a great option to sub and has some pop off the bench! Let's pull the trigger on the Roberts trade!"
  18. What's the big problem? While I wish Lou wouldn't so quite so decisive so soon, I don't see any harm. Gallagher didn't look at all ready last year in the bigs, and he's only 22. There will be plenty of time for him to pitch for the Cubs. I don't like Marquis, but I think Sean would even struggle to put up the 101 ERA+ that Marquis did.
  19. If his career stolen base percentage is over 80 percent (and even better in recent years), wouldn't he only get caught 15-20 times?
