    Except he won't replicate those totals, and even if he did post a .358 OBP, his SLG would be far below Soriano's. So, no, he wouldn't be as good of a leadoff hitter as Soriano.

    A friend emailed me these two pictures, which i guess are parodies of the ads. the Lee one is reacting to the backlash to Fukudome's ad, and I'm not sure of the Ted Lilly one but it makes me laugh. He said he found them on some other Cubs message board that i don't remember the name to.     Just talked to a friend of mine who was at the luncheon. He said it's all 100% true. He also said Hendry sounded pretty ticked off when he talked about Prior.

    That's a really cool article. Good work by the author. I'm still not a Hendry fan, but it's cool to see him come across with some more honest comments instead of the typical stuff that he feeds to the media. I think it goes to show that we can't always take statements that are made to the press as 100 percent truth.

    I know he's made dumb moves, but I still don't know if pre-emptive gnashing of teeth are warranted. If Phil Rogers wrote the following blurb... ...at least a few people would freak out and say the Cubs are dumb, despite it being speculation. Anyway. It's just a pet peeve of mine. I'll stop complaining about it.

    Nah, I think it'll probably be the rumored package that goes through. It's just on hold because January is Goose Gossage's month in the sun. Once February comes around, MLB can complete the paperwork.

    Calm down. Rosenthal just said the Cubs might be looking for a center fielder, so he threw their name in. It bothers me that anytime there is what appears to be a purely speculative rumor, we read a barrage of posts saying that "The Cubs are so stupid" and "Hendry is a moron."

    It's interesting to read the blind faith the Orioles Hangout people have in their sources. Many of them are still sitting there insisting that a deal is done and that MacPhail is just covering it up, which doesn't make any sense. It's not a UFO investigation. My own tinfoil-hat theory is that the OH admins just post rumors/info like this to boost site traffic for their advertising. Their traffic probably goes up ten-fold on a day like yesterday, which I'm sure doesn't hurt their revenue stream.

    That Orioles site is ridiculous. Now their excuse is the Goose Gossage thing. As if MLB would be so concerned that a mega-super-blockbuster trade of Brian Roberts would totally overshadow Gossage's election. I can see it (maybe) if there was a three-team deal that involved Jake Peavy, Johan Santana and David Wright, but a Roberts trade isn't going to overshadow a HoF vote. They're all just throwing things around at this point. It's silly.

    I do too, but I have no idea how they'd acquire all three. Say they do trade the Seans and Cedeno for Roberts. What is left of value to offer for Figgins and Burnett? Pie, Colvin ... what else?
