  1. Ahhh, Cubs should be able to take care of that themselves with Zambrano on the mound.
  2. Cardinals lose too...
  3. I am really starting to enjoy watching Ted Lilly pitch. He has been a big contributor in the starting rotation.
  4. Well, again, they're the 26th-best defensive team in MLB. Not making errors doesn't necessarily mean good defense. Good defensive teams usually are winning teams. The Cubs of last year were a (glaring) exception. Where are you getting this from? http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=204024 I am a little less inclined to look at those type of statistics when it comes to defensive ability. I think defense, moreso than hitting or pitching, can be judged better with your eyes. For instance, I don't think I would consider this Cubs team to have a great defense, but according to those numbers they are ranked 3rd. Individually, yes, but team defense is different than the sum of the individual parts. While defensive efficiency isn't perfect(the Cubs can likely attribute that rating to their K happy pitching staff), it provides a fairly accurate picture of how well the entirety of the defense has been for a particular team. I'm not sure how K's would figure in. Defensive efficiency measures the percentage of balls in play that are turned into outs. K's don't factor. . So, a defense penalized when pitchers give up hits? How is it the defense fault when players shoot ball in the gaps, hit homeruns, etc.?
  5. How many Rich Harden jokes do you see around here? I just think it would be different, thats all I am saying. I'd love to see him come back and stay healthy, I'm just not confident that is going to happen. If he doesn't, I don't think there is anyway he is retained next year.
  6. I just can't help but imagine the comments about Wood from this board if he was in a different organization. probably lots of jokes about the comeback, claims of overrated, etc. I understand why he's popular with a lot of fans, but he hasn't contributed anything of value in 3 years.
  7. I'd go into some state of shock if the Cubs could find someone as offensively valuable at the catching position as Doumit has been this year. .307/.384/.515
  8. Is Veal quickly joining the likes of Brownlie, Hagerty, Blasko, Christensen, Telemaco, group of overhyped prospects? He's been bad pretty much all year.
  9. Where is this "big bat" going to play and who will have to be given up? I don't think getting rid of Jones is going to net a big bat.

  11. Oh for the love of God don't do it. Its not that bad of an idea. He mainly played RF last year anyway. He's not going to be considerably worse than Cliff.
  12. Well, Soriano had something to do with that.
  13. Tonight's game is key. A win tonight sets the team up pretty well for Sunday with Zambrano on the mound. If they can take these final two games of the series I think it has to be considered a pretty successful roadtrip. That would put them at 5-2 on the trip with an overall record of 45-42 heading into the break.
  14. Yep, this game is over. 3-2 in the 3rd. No way they are coming abck from this one. Calm down, i said we are TRYING to lose. I never said this game was over. Are We? I"m kidding...supercalm.

  16. Thats usually something people keep to themsleves...
  17. Ryan Doumit is having a hell of an inning for the Cubs.
  18. I think they still do the HR derby.
  19. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3icec89c18d5ef8ec58165dfae65c9791c
  20. Probably because he didn't suck his last time out. I'm kidding. I was one of the few defending Marquis when everone was predicting impending doom before his start against Milwaukee.
