  1. Am I the only one who still isn't sold on Cedeno? He's putting up huge numbers and I'm happy to see them, but for some reason there isn't a lot of excitement for me.
  2. At this point I'll take 45-42 even. I think 5-2 on this trip is a must.
  3. If we had two Matt Murtons and two Sean Marshalls, I would trade all four for Saltalamacchia. That would be ridiculous, Murton is patient at the plate and hits alot of doubles which will turn into homers, he also is a smart baserunner, not fast but smart. Marchall's curve is very good and he can hit a dime 60 feat away, his control is astounding. I won't address the other points (although I would take minor issue with some of them) but Murton is not a particularly smart baserunner. For example, he stopped at 3rd base when he could have scored easily for no real reason at all, and then got stranded there 4-5 times this year (including the game where he stopped at 3rd on a single that should have scored him, then a wild pitch should have scored him, but he just stood there and watched it). he has to listen Mike quade, something that is very hard to do, Quade sucks, he holds everyone You must have been sitting behind me last Monday night against the Rockies. Fontenot doubled and Lee followed up with a single. Fontenot was held at 3rd. The guy behind me went ballistic. It would have been a close play, but I'd much rather have Ramirez up with 2 men in scoring position. Quade has done fine this year. I would never want to be a 3rd base coach, every move is second guessed. If you hold a runner, some are upset you didn't send him. If you send him and the runner is thrown out, people are mad you sent them. It is truly a lose-lose situation.
  4. I wish Murton was only half as good as some think he is.
  5. I think Brenly enjoys what he is doing, especially with his son being in collge and having the ability to see many of his games in the spring. But I have also always thought that he would like to manage again at some point.
  6. Reading some media out of Cincinnati. They speculate that the Reds could look at Brenly, but only after the season. If I remember correctly, Brenly signed a 3 year broadcasting deal. This is his third year.
  7. Ahhhh...your no fun. :x
  8. It should be Young.
  9. Man, I can't imagine why the Cubs didn't pick him up...
  10. At one time he was the manager of the Iowa Cubs.
  11. this was his first quality start since May 24th. he has been mediocre or worse in every start since then (besides today, when he really should have gone 8 or perhaps more. lou sucks at BP management). 6-4 3.31 ERA .226 BAA .309 OBPA .636 OPS against He's a well above average 5th starter. The Marquis talk is ridiculous. that's because he had a fluky good first month and a half of the season. he had a 5.09 ERA in June. 823 OPS against. .382 OBP against. He is not above average. His numbers will even out by the end of the year because he is not a particularly good pitcher. I always love the "just wait and see" argument. Tell me who's going to win the division too, did the Cubs catch the Brewers? He's been good this year, I don't see why that is so hard to admit.

  13. I'm telling you all, its time to stop pretending Marquis is terrible, he's not. He's a well above average 5th starter.
  14. I personally like having him in the 7th or 8th, or whenever the tougher situation presents itself.
  15. Its better than it might be. I'm still a little tentative. I think a lot of people (myself included) are still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Thats fine, but its been half a season. He's a 5th starter and worth every bit of the money he's being paid this year.
  16. Excellent job Marquis. He's having a good year people....its true. Its ok to admit it.
  17. Well, when Aramis is due up I'd hold him too. He also would have been out by 15 feet.
  18. Billy "savior in waiting" Petrick is back. I must go change my shorts now.
  19. Somebody tell me why, even despite what he's done at AAA, I'm not that excited about Cedeno. I want to be, but for some reason i'm not.
  20. Marquis hasn't been nearly as bad as some want to make him out to be. He has only failed to go 5+ innings on one occasion.
