  1. What has Lilly done wrong? Ranks 2nd in WHIP, 10th in K's. 3.90 ERA... Tough crowd around here. what had hill and marshall done wrong? and lilly wasn't very good his last time out. Huh? I was simply responding to what seemed like a dig at Lilly.
  2. I'm still more concerned about the Cubs winning ballgames then what Milwaukee is doing right now. Sure it would be nice for them to drop some games, but it doesn't matter much until the Cubs get above .500.

  4. Someone will have to explain to me sometime what is so special about the ever-injured Guzman. He's Prior/Wood without the major league success.
  5. Wow, sounds morbid.
  6. I agree. Those guys are always right. Remember when we got all worked up over Nomar and then Peter Gammons came on and said, right before the trade deadline, that there was absolutely no chance Nomar became a cub? ESPN was right then, and they are right now. Oh wait... I love the pervading attitude that all of the writers don't know crap, especially if they work for ESPN. I've always found Stark to be pretty good, I'm sure he has researched this and has better sources than a message board. I'm just reporting what the man said. I never claimed they were infallible, but maybe they just might know what they are talking about.
  7. A snippet from the Trib... "Asked Friday about Sox fans booing him, Carlos Zambrano said: "They don't know that I'm a White Sox fan." Zambrano has said privately he would love to play under Sox manager Ozzie Guillen if he doesn't re-sign with the Cubs. 8. As I mentioned earlier, Stark was on ESPN and said there is nothing to all of this. Mentions what many have speculated that the Cubs are in no position to take on any extra salary right now. Lets forget about it..
  9. Echoing the thoughts of the previous poster, a sweep would be great, but taking the series is a good start. The Cubs are going to have to put together some series wins before they start worrying about what Milwaukee is doing. Get above . 500 and then start worrying about the Brwers, until that point it doesn't really matter.
  10. Nice... Has there been any speculation about when Lee's appeal will be heard? I'd hate to have him miss the upcoming series against Milwaukee.
  11. Hah!. I love the Sox fan in the front row in black shirt and hat who flails his arms in frustration after every Sox out.
  12. And the tremendous ability to score runners with men in scoring position and nobody out continues...
  13. Just today? I'm worried about the rest of the year as well.
  14. Rich Hill is nothing more than a #4 starter I fear... He is very predictable at times.
  15. Anyone watching this complete nerd on CSN talk about all his Cubs jerseys? WOW.
  16. I'm surprised Ward isn't DHing oh and Iztuis = As someone said earlier, there are not many good options at SS right now. Theriot and Izturis are essentially the same player right now.
  17. Looks like it is raining pretty good at the field...
  18. Jayson Stark on ESPNews, "absolutely no truth to this". Said if the Cubs could take on any money right now they would give it to Zambrano, not use it in acquiring Griffey who is owed around 20 million the next couple years.
  19. Can't complain too much? Come on... That has to be an out. He made the right play and ran at the runner. He just got unlucky that the tag missed Lofton by a couple of inches. A true Cubs play would have been for Howry to throw behind Lofton allowing Lofton to advance to third. He made the right play initially, but once you have him committed to going back towards 2nd base you need to get rid of the ball. Howry held the ball for about 2 seconds too long and it cost him, and the game. How do you know it cost him the game. If Howry makes the play there's a runner on first with two outs. With Catalanotto's hit, the runner would have been going on contact and probably could have scored anyway. because Catalanotto probably doesn't even PH in that situation if there is a man on 1st with 2 out. Bottom line is Howry held the ball too long, that has to be an out.
  20. Nonesense. It's a long season. We're in second place. Aramis back tomorrow. I think the Cubs are actually in 3rd, but it doens't matter. It is misleading to look at it that way, fact remains the team hasn't been very good and I haven't seen much signs of improvement.
