  2. Rich Hill/Josh Reddick maybe, if the rumors are accurate. Rosenthal just tweeted they're gunning for Archer.
  3. Well, then. Lucroy trade off.
  4. Well yeah we gave up a lot but this is also a lot for the Indians to give up. Basically emptied their system between this and the Lucroy trade. And word is the Yankees liked Indians prospects more in a Miller trade. They really wanted Frazier.
  5. He's a guy who always seems to produce but never gets any love in the prospect rankings. I'm sure he'd never be more than a 4th outfielder in the majors but yeah I could see him being a Rule 5 pick from someone.
  6. Some morning updates: Pirates gauging interest in Melancon Yankees gauging interest in McCann Dodgers trying to get Jay Bruce and may trade Puig separately Rich Hill won't make his next start Derek Norris likely to be traded Gonna be a wild couple days til the deadline. It's also still throwing me off that the deadline is now Aug. 1.
  7. I don't think its possible to lose out by not acquiring Cashner. I would agree, especially considering what the Marlins gave up. But a young cost-controlled starter having a solid season? Price tag gonna be huge.
  8. Anyone know why Matusz was scratched from his start tonight in Iowa? Saw a reporter tweet it wasn't injury related and then nothing since.
  9. Apparently the Rangers are deep in talks to get Vince Velazquez from the Phillies. They lost out on Cashner so they're gonna empty the farm now.
  10. Leal is on the DL so I'm not sure he'll get promoted this season even if he comes back reasonably soon. Really don't see Castillo getting promoted except maybe at the end of the season if South Bend needs playoff help. If anyone moves up from Eugene to SB, it'll be Oscar De La Cruz. Ah ok, didn't realize Leal was on the DL. Is it just me or is anyone else surprised Dillon Maples is still in the organization? Is he gonna become anything?
  11. What a package for the Padres. Geez. Cashner, Rea for 2 top prospects, a buy-low starter and an elite reliever who will be back from TJ surgery next season. I'm sure this makes the Phillies happy about a Hellickson trade and really sets the market for starters now.
  12. Lol, it would be a perfect Heyman tweet if he tweets out soon. "Or maybe they didn't got out. Calls or texts may both work." Or for someone to tweet that Jon wasn't receiving texts before Jon tweeted it.
  13. Also, a blast from the past, Brett pointed out today that Jesus Castillo was one of four Eugene All Stars. He has a 10.31 K/9 and 2.43 ERA. Erick Leal is also pitching pretty well in Myrtle Beach. Can't believe we got both for short fast white man Tony Campana. Odds on either getting a promotion soon?
  14. Wow, five pitchers in the top 10. Who would slide in to 10 once Contreras loses rookie status? Tseng has looked pretty good, especially for his age/level.
  15. Yeah, I've spent the better part of the past 2 days rationalizing this move to myself and feel kinda sick that I'm doing that. This guy is scum vs. god I want a WS win. Gonna be even more disheartening if we don't win it and he leaves after the season.
  16. And we're under a week til the deadline.
  17. Are you going with a six man rotation or putting the SP in place of someone? My idea was a six man rotation. Having Cahill and Matusz is nice but who knows what you'd get from either stretching out.
  18. I keep thinking about what's next in terms of trades. We've been looking at starters and apparently have interest in a lefty power bat and I as wondering what it would take to get Kole Calhoun and one of Hector Santiago/Matt Shoemaker from the Angels? Those two pitchers are on the market and while not flashy would be helpful in stabilizing the rotation. Calhoun has pop and a good glove. Thoughts?
  19. Similar to the discussions we're having: -Did the Cubs overpay for a rental -I wouldn't want the Cardinals to acquire a guy with his background -Wish he wasn't coming back to the NL -Guess the Cubs are completely going for it
  20. It's a bit of a haul, but it seems like Torres is really the only one with any kind of chance to be a difference-maker at this point, and even that is far from a definite. It's an overpay, but I think an acceptable one. (Keeping in mind that I'm not a student of the prospects we have like most of this board is.) I know. I'm just still having this internal struggle over it. We're also selling low on Warren and McKinney. Don't care too much about Crawford. And I was kinda assuming Torres would be dealt at some point. I guess there have been worse overpays (see: Phillies' haul for Giles).
  21. I'm still just having a hard time with this one, between the haul for Chapman, the fact that no extension is in place and the fact that he's a POS. I'm really interested in this press conference/statements from the front office.
  22. We're just gonna flip Chapman for Mike Trout right?
  23. Rosenthal now saying it's likely 4 for 1 as well. This isn't reality right? Tell me I'm missing something.
  24. Sharma and Sherman saying it's 4 for 1 with no extension. I'd be so damn furious
