that's a different topic The...[expletive]? I have too much of a headache to go down the gooney wormhole today. the point was that an established quality hitter was going to be hard to replace when there was nobody in the system that could competently handle the position. It's not really 20/20 to point out they weren't able to fill that hole. I agree that plenty of people on here were more than happy to bid him adieu and let the wonder boys work their magic. But in retrospect that decision was probably the first real clue how deep of a dive they were going to take.

I though Svuem had a three year deal. The internet describes his contract as a 3-year contracts with an option for 2015, presumably meaning there is a buyout to not pick-up the option.

This is dumb logic, because by the time that contract is terrible, Schwarber will be starting and hitting 30 dongs a year for almost free so it won't matter if we're paying him $5M a year to catch once a week. Am I missing something? Why would we only be paying him 5M a year when he's going to get 15M annually? massive signing bonus -

I think the cliche is accurate in certain situations, especially in sports that require fans to show up multiple times during the week. But in the case of Florida, there is no convenient location for everything. Anything you want to get to is an hour away from wherever you are.
