  1. He does this all the time. I'm beyond sick of his little act where he offers up stupid opinions for no good reason. Between this, his roster management in June and calling up American Bebe for the friendlies this week, I want him gone. There's no chance of him leaving before next world cup is there?
  2. for some reason I totally forgot they were tied at the end and felt like the hawks were playing like a team down 2-1 with the way they were controlling play.
  3. Eli vs Foles, who you got?
  4. My favorite part about the shootouts is how worked up the anti-shootout crowd gets about them.
  5. Did anybody other than Hendry and Fleita ever pump Kelton as a pure hitter? I don't recall BA or the greater scouting world ever being as buzzed about his hitting as Hendry was. i think it was more that he had a "sweet swing" than he was a "pure hitter." Yeah, one of the prettier RH swings I've ever seen at the minor league level. He was very much described as a pure hitter.
  6. Baseball is all about individual matchups so I think that lends to more mental mistakes and advantages. why would you think that) Eh, a good hitter could go up against a great pitcher and lose confidence. Also, baseball is the only sport where they're basically playing ever day. There are all sorts of mental things that can go on over the course of 6 months that aren't quantifiable And if that lack of confidence manifested itself then it would result in a quantifiable decline in production. If you were a talented hitter that regularly lost confidence against good pitchers you would probably wash out of the league, if not the minors.
  7. The crazy thing is you think it matters more in baseball. It is much more important in an effort and moving parts sport like football and hockey than in an incredibly quantifiable slow game like baseball.
  8. We still care about this stuff? Hell, this probably helps him on draft day by limiting injury risk and cutting down wear and tear on him. character counts on draft day PFTCommenter ‏@PFTCommenter · 58m58 minutes ago just when u think the runningbacks cant get any eviler, one smokes weed and a nother writes his name down and sells it smh times a million
  9. That isn't really news though.
  10. Probably, I did say it was less likely. Harper was a good bit worse than Puig though, and there's at least some semblence of a reason to trade Harper that makes sense compared to Puig getting traded for sideburns length or whatever. Au contraire, mon frère, Harper hit when it mattered.
  11. It's a hitting coach, I really don't think it matters all that much. No way for any of us to judge either way though.
  12. Chicago Cubs ‏@Cubs · 25s24 seconds ago #Cubs announce 2015 coaching staff: John Mallee joins from Houston as the new hitting coach. Eric Hinske shifts to assistant hitting coach.
  13. Did you get your peanuts?
  14. the team performs to expectations and end up with 85 wins which is just short?
  15. I've never heard anybody refer to trying to resign their own guys as being active in the free agent market.
  16. Not sure if any of you have heard of this story, but a high school in NJ forfeited a game and then cancelled its season due to hazing issues that sounds more like sexual assault than anything else. http://www.nj.com/middlesex/index.ssf/2014/10/sayreville_high_school_football_hazing_parent_reveals_sexual_nature_of_locker_room_ritual_exclusive.html#incart_m-rpt-1 One report says people would turn out the light, grab a freshman, hold him down and stick a finger in his ass then force him to lick it. Another parent said that when she was present while the cops were questioning her son, "it sounded like somebody grabbed a butt and nothing more". I don't get this hazing ritual [expletive]. I played a lot of sports and the most we did was when shaving heads in a team building exercise a few got shaped into goofy looking mohawks. Aside from some name calling (which included a lot of the typical teenage gay slur stuff) there was no hazing. But from the sounds of it lots and lots of meatballs out there really love the hazing ritual "tradition".
  17. Did I hear a "Leddy lost his stick" at the start of that?
  18. I never really considered '07 to be an epic choke. Maybe it's because of how bad we were in 2006, but I remember 2007 being a somewhat surprising season where you didn't expect them to make much noise in the playoffs. I was referring to 1969, 1984, 2003 and 2008. I'll be honest, I was thinking the regular season choke job you were talking about was 2004. Same. 1969 doesn't register for me as a thing beyond associating it with all of those old HOFers who hang around (for obvious reasons). It means nothing to me personally, but it is a HUGE part of Cubs fans as a whole. It was also obvious and the 2004 season was nothing like an "epic" regular season choke. It is also pathetic how much that 1969 team means to people.
  19. What are you talking about?
  20. Maybe this can go in a new 2015 spring training thread, but, whatever.
