    That's what everyone was saying about Girardi last year. We don't need them to signal such things by wasting money on a manager. They are going to start spending money on good major league pieces this offseason. It doesn't even take reading tea leaves. They've gone out of their way to say it as plainly as possible. Yeah, I don't need a signal that they are willing to waste a couple extra million on a manager, I want them to spend $100 million on a pitcher. They can't flirt with Maddon. They either have to get a deal done or stay completely away. Making Sveum the fall guy for two horrible years where they didn't even try and then talking about a replacement for Renteria one year later is going to hurt their credibility if they don't actually seal the deal.

    Was the price really absurd? Like SSR I may have imagined this, but my recollection is that Hamels' pricetag was taking on his entire contract and offering up at least one of the top prospects in the system(read: Baez), probably 2. I was under the impression it wasn't so much a price tag as it was an interest gauger. The Cubs put in the bid not with the expectation they would get him but just to open up the dialogue. They were telling the league (and season ticket holders) they were ready to spend on a pitcher and telling Philly they would be willing to talk about Hamels, but I didn't get the idea that Philly had a real price tag at the time.

    Take away your disinterest in the Bears and I would say it's all about getting older, getting married and having kids. I stopped watching non-Bears primetime games a lonngggggggggg time ago. There's too much other stuff in life to be bothered by those things. I will on occasion throw them on, but that is about it. I do not think it is at all about over-the-top coverage of the NFL. That is very easy to avoid, if not completely ignore. I also gave up sports radio long ago but that is because it is stupid and pointless. It has nothing to do with being sick of football, it's just being sick of people who get paid to argue about sports. The fact that you also have lost interest in watching the Bears seems a bit different than my situation. I have definitely wandered away from the TV to do other stuff during the game, mostly pouring another drink or stirring/flipping whatever food I am making. But I still look forward to those games and have it front and center.

Okay then, in response to your idiotic stance. um something can't be right and idiotic at the same time didn't even read any of the rest of that crap. if you actually believe him, LOL. I believe it was a perfectly reasonable excuse to offer up to braindead people that think they deserved one and that you are a clueless robot that spouted off every HOT SPORTS TAKE about a player missing an "obligation" for stupid family stuff.

A) The radio show is a pointless waste of time and skipping it should not require an explanation. B) Not all doctors visits for young children are scheduled far in advance. C) Not all doctors visits for young children are scheduled around dad's pointless side gig. D) Not all fathers are heartless robots and some actually want to participate and will attend such an appointment. E) Jay's wife has a career as well. F) The radio show is a pointless waste of time and skipping it should not require an explanation and people who get at all worked up about him missing this pointless exercise are completely psychotic.

    Not quite the hospital so not good enough, right? lol seriously a weak excuse, come on. omgz he couldnt have just done the show later in the day? we gotta run this bozo out of town already. he couldn't have scheduled this doctors appointment when he didn't have a radio show to do? he didn't know about this appointment until the morning of, which happened the be the day after a bunch of controversy related to his team happened? his wife, who half the time seems to be in attendance at the show, couldn't have taken the kid to a doctor's appointment? should have come up with a better excuse. Okay, stop with the tipping point character.

    Hah. Looks like they are no longer a united front and realized they lost. Will be interesting to see what they do with the rooftops once they own them. Yeah, if it is a rooftop that has a blocked view, not sure what you can do, but maybe some sort of pre and post game lounge for the club ticket holders, like all the fancy bar/restaurants you see in the new stadiums.

    Yes, when you sacrifice yourself and pull the lineman to let another rusher get through, that will get called. When it's a 1one1 ass whooping that will not get called.

    holy cow @ that graphic. I want to hear the explanation for the "3 planes" issue. They aren't departing from Green Bay. They can fly direct to London. The way it is written indicates they are actually taking three separate airplanes, but the graphic indicates they are talking about the 3 different legs of the total journey. And they are considering their return flight from London as part of their trip to London.

    Well yeah it's real. They're playing in London. Yeah, I knew it was in London. I didn't know if it was 9:30PM London time, which is why Yahoo was showing 9:30. Usually the London games are still at 1 EST. They've moved the game to Barcelona, and for some reason Atlanta can't take a direct flight.
