Have there been any reports or rumors to this? Rumor is no Tampa coaches will be allowed to leave with Maddon, with the possible exception of Martinez interviewing for but not getting the manager's gig and thus allowed to pursue other interests. I understand they're bitter but how does forcing guys to stay in a situation they don't want going to help the franchise going forward? This stuff never makes sense to me. The GM left, the head coach left, and the hitting/pitching/bullpen coaches are going to be forced to stay in a situation that's vastly different than what they signed up for? It happens. Generally speaking they will compensate those guys with an extra year on their deal or a boost in the following season. They would probably evaluate on case by case and allow guys to leave for a gig that isn't following Maddon to the Cubs.
