  1. Because playoff teams are better? How is this not obvious?
  2. Just assume the win for them, the Pirates aren't any help. All we can do is win our game, and we're not gonna. If we could possibly reach their bullpen I'd have some hope
  3. I definitely think we make the playoffs this year, but the Brewers are far from done. They're 5.5 up in the wild card so it would be in Yost's best interests to not run CC out there for 115 pitches every start. He wore down last year and they need him healthy. And it's the Pirates. Let him throw one more inning, get around 100-105, and let the pen finish it. They have no intention or hope of re-signing him, so they are probably hoping he breaks down after the playoffs. I really wish Hendry could have figured out a way to get him to Chicago. I certainly don't want him after this season. 'damaged goods'
  4. yeah something tells me that teams aren't going to be falling all over themselves to trade for a RF who's below average offensively and is due $38m over the next 3 years. that is one ugly contract, fo' sho'. Yeah, I didn't think it was actually going to happen. Will Kosuke end up beating Jeromy Burnitz' 2005 OPS+ of 94? He's currently at 96. the cubs wanted an upgrade from matt murton so they ended up signing... matt murton. A lefty matt murton :-#
  5. LOL at that second part. We aren't scoring anything until the 6th inning minimum
  6. You could take 10-12 games a season from the best team in baseball and show them to someone and that person would think the team would have won 54 games or something Its no big deal
  7. Lousy Cannuck Juicebag... Looking over Gagne's #s, his CY year in 03 is just [expletive]. 100 more K's than H(137-37), ERA+ of 335, 2 HR in 306 batters faced, just wow. How the mighty have fallen. Kinda off topic, but I really resent Gagne for overshadowing John Smoltz when they were hands down the most dominant closers in the NL for that 3 year stretch. Gagne did it with PEDs while I really have to assume Smoltz has always been clean, everything I've ever heard about him points towards class act all the way. I think Marmol will be an awesome closer when/if they decide to put him in that role. With such filthy stuff he's got a way of making batters look stupid and lacking in motors skills. Fun to watch, as is his getting fired up like a mini-Z. and jk about the Cannuck part. I heart Canadia and many of her bands. I hope he never becomes a closer and continues to be a fireman like has been
  8. I'm not about to start betting against the Cubs but I'm not expecting them to win the World Series either. Considering the up in the air crazy-ness that is the playoffs, they have slightly better than a 1/8 chance to win. So anything they win is just gravy to me. I would love to see them beat the D-Backs though.
  9. 27 games to play and we've already equaled our record last year
  10. Yet he remains in your sig... Yes. Go check the "Explain your username" post in the Off-topic Forum
  11. Well duh, we all knew that was going to happen The bunt was stupid, can we talk about how that was dumb?
  12. Keep swinging at ball 4 Ronny we know you wont take it
  13. This just in: Ronny Cedeno is kind of a bad baseball player
  14. Samardiizja, while still dealing with one of the worst zones I've ever seen, hasn't looked fantastic so far
  15. We've had some awful bad at bats and some pretty darn good ones today Lets just win
  16. Imagine the most ridiculously stupid play after a broken bat single with 2 outs imagine that play scores a run for the Phillies Oh well, lets hit this fat boy, please god
  17. I'm going to kill someone this is the worst
  18. Complete bias on my part, but I feel like I've seen 10x as many opponent broken bat hits compared to Cubs broken bat hits
  19. I really would love for our offense to pound the crap out of that fat bastard on the mound
  20. starting the 'this thread blows' trend early hooray
  21. have you watched the cubs at all this year? jesus Yeah, I know what our inconsistent offense can do. The only reason we were able to do anything last night is because we finally got to thier bulpen. We have been completely shut down by much worse pitchers than Blanton. We'll also be lucky if we get 5 innings out of Harden today. looooool I can't imagine any knowledgeable baseball fan say that with a straight face. (The bolded part)
  22. I just wish our players would put together better at bats against a mediocre pitcher
