  1. What do you mean "once fielder is gone", Prince is very young and you guys would be wise to hold on to him. If you lose Sabathia, Sheets and Fielder, you wont be the force to be reckoned with for the next few years that I thought you'd be
  2. Hahahah I sort of have the same problem, except I'm working tonight
  3. That's how I feel about the playoffs, too. But, then again, the other team's fans should be twice as worried about running into our high-powered offense, dominant starting pitching, and shut-down setup man/closer. Thinking about it from the D-backs perspective, they really should be afraid of us. Their offense is still in flux, even with the acquisition of Dunn, and they don't have that many dependable hitters. The pitching, well, we all know the story on that, but we've been able to get to them a little this year...usually at home. #-o Of course none of our pitchers can figure out that you should never throw a strike to Chris Young. I feel like I'm watching other teams playing against Soriano, STOP THROWING THE GUY STRIKES
  4. It's not as fun to check BP playoffs report every day like it was last year. We'd have crazy swings of like 7-10% every day depending on what happened.
  5. Parra/Billingsly Bush/Lowe Suppan/Kershaw Nice. Those are pretty favorable matchups for the Dodgers. Dodgers have a tough lineup too Ethier Kemp Kent Manny Loney Martin Nomah Casey Blake Juan Pierre off the bench. This will be nice test for the Brewers after everyone saying how unbeatable they are after going 8-2 against 3 of the worst teams in history. What's really great is: A. They're facing a team with more than one major league starting pitcher B. They're facing a lineup that'll be able to hit that crap the Brewers call a bullpen (one can rave all they wish about these unbeatable Brewers but, when you've got Solomon Torres as your closer you're going to have problems) C. The Dodgers miss Sabathia and Sheets D. Its at Dodger Stadium
  6. Yeah honestly, do Lou and Hendry watch the games, or just oggle at his low walk total? He doesn't make a single bat miss. Every out he does get is usually a liner that is barely caught. The guy is just being slapped around and his OPS against is over 1.000. Its time to either stow him away forever and not put him on the play off roster, or just outright DFA him. He isn't fulfilling his job as a baseball player, and I don't see anyway he can fix his problems. Not with the repertoire he is currently using.
  7. Agreein' wit dis post Although it may be better or worse depending on who we play in the first series, because of who we can trot out in a 5 game set. Against the Dodgers? I might bump that up to about 70%
  8. Its really such a shame ERA is calculated the way it is, since it made Zambrano's last start overpower his previous awesome starts and now looks like semi bloated 3.22. Well, bloated for big Z that is. In the end he may have given up 9 earned runs, but that can only cost him 1 game in the standings, ah well, there are better metrics out there. Go out and dominate, please. Sweep 'em if possible, but a series win is good enough. Z and Dempster in the series should at least guarantee that.
  9. Of course we can, David Even bad pitchers record more outs than runs
  10. I don't care if he doesn't walk people I don't care You have to cut him
  11. Why is Howry still in the major leagues? I mean I guess I could keep asking this, but he can't consistently get outs and just gives up hard hit balls
  12. Why? It's just a bruise. Not like sitting on the bench is gonna help it any. This has nothign to do with the injury getting worse, it has everything to do with him not being able to play at his best ability If you are uncomfortable and can't have an easy swing you wont play well. This might happen with a left hip contusion
  13. Incredible. Lilly with an easy 1-2-3 inning. Why couldn't he have done that against the bottom of their order last time?????
  14. Gosh Aramis please be okay, now we have to lay another 5 runs on them to make me feel better
  15. Well, lets see how Lilly gives up more runs I mean we all know he will just how is the question Also be okay Ramirez, plz?
  16. I care more about them calling a curveball strike a curveball strike. In fact almost all the success a lefty pitcher has who is not named Randy Johnson is if the ump actually calls his curveball a strike anywhere. (They rarely do)
  17. top 7 still scoreless at least Peavy has a more durable arm on him than Sheets, thats my only hope here
  18. Hey padres, win a stupid game you losers
  19. Wow if I was Sheets I'd be super pissed they threw me that lineup against Peavy Of course they still will score 7 runs, regardless
  20. I don't believe a guy who tore both his ACLs should try pitching at all this year But whatever, if he wants to potentially ruin his career its his perogative
  21. Terrible, horrible and awful. The most painful thing about it is these teams will fight tooth and claw when we see them, we all know when the Nationals come to town they wont pull their "4 runs in a 4 game series" act
  22. It might not be a popular choice, but I would think Theriot needs to be in the top 5. He has been consistently good all year while playing every day, unlike Soriano, Soto, and Edmunds. I could not agree more. When I saw the list of the original 5, my first thought was that Theriot was not there. He does play every day and his defense is good. He's often and unsung hero, not a lot of flash, but I don't think the Cubs are where they are without him. He doesn't play everyday, his defense isn't that good, and he's only marginally productive. He plays a premium defensive position at about an average level (check any advanced metric you like, he's not terrible defensively) and has an OBP darn near .400. I don't care about the rest, thats enough to make him more than 'marginally' productive.
  23. Good lord I hate the Padres. They fought the hell out of us, made every match a game and didn't go away quietly. Of course they will pack it in vs. the Brewers
  24. Whatever, they are basically irrelevant at this point. We all need to just root against the Brewers.
  25. Cubs up 8-0 I HAVE TO USE CARLOS MARMOL MY N AME IS LOU PINIELLA
