  1. the needle tears a hole. the old familiar sting. cubs 2011 slogan? too harsh?
  2. funny, zambrano's expression and mine were exactly the same. tired of watching losing baseball.
  3. well you got the soto [expletive] up right at least AF.
  4. I put an uncanny amount of trust and value into that AB. Boy, am I glad I did. Life lesson - never count on the cubs to cheer you up. Prove me wrong in the ninth, losers.
  5. Who would've thought I'd feel so much better about Pena than Dunn at this point in the season?
  6. This was actually pretty clever.
  7. It's my birthday tommorow. Win the series (or sweep!) and that would do wonders for my psyche. Go Cubs!
  8. marmol's only enemy is himself. so sick.
  9. Barney and Byrd at 2 and 3 = epic fail. wow, what a frustrating game.
  10. Jesus
  11. To be fair, it's pretty damn popular to West Virginians. What else do they have to take pride/pay attention to? From personal experience, they are pretty terrible, for the record.
  12. Yeah, really. Who died and made him Willy Wonka? Handing out golden tickets and [expletive].
  13. Why would he care about candy if he's pitching in a game?
  14. I'm not sure if anybody else here feels like I do, but I don't care if he throws a fit or not if he pitches like he did to finish the year in 2010.
  15. Don't forget Enrique Wilson. And Damian Jackson. I actually saw both of them play in the minors. They played for Kinston, North Carolina (the Indians' A+ team) and at the time I lived about 25 miles away, so I went to a few of their games each year. I'm going to miss the K-Tribe when they move after next year. They were a nice sports-related internship provider to our journalism/PR majors, too.
  16. YESSSSSSSSS /Ron
  17. I'm sort of the exact opposite of a lot of the people here. I grew up on WGN and never really listened to many WGN radio broadcasts. I grew up on Steve Stone talk about sliders low and outside alongside Harry. I grew up on Harry Carry, when listening to the game and hoping you heard an enthusiastic call was all that mattered. Though, come to think of it, some of Harry's most enthusiastic calls were for the other team... Anyway, needless to say, the first Santo game I heard, I was hooked. He spoke the truth, his passion, and his heart (out of 1,300 randomly played songs "A dying Cubs fan's last request" just happened to play at this very second...)were one in a million. RIP Ron. I must admit, the first thing I thought about when I heard he passed away was the fact he never saw the Cubs win it all. That sucks.
  18. I particularly enjoyed this caption: You mean, like, his job? Or, perhaps they asked him not to remove his uniform during games or smoke hash out a human skull? I wonder what all the asked him to do???
  19. I have an opportunity to go to this game but a hopeless Carolina team versus a Cutler-less Chicago team just doesn't seem like an equal trade for a 4 hour ride. Or one hour for that matter... I actually applaud Fox for taking the lumps with Clausen. Moore is not a long-term solution, but I could have seen him riding him out the rest of the year. Especially since the writing on the wall says he's gone after this year.
  20. Oh my God !! I'm having flash backs to 1960 !! Ugh We remember the sixties, but it is a bit different these guys go to seminars on team work and they have this cyberspace thingy and pitch counts. It could work, football does it. Ok, I'll admit it, I am just throwing crap out there. Based on the last month and a half it is Quade's job to lose I was making reference to the infamous College of Coaches. no love for the "relief" managers? In fact, 2010 has been a "relief" Cubs year for me. As much as I hate to say it, I've had so much going on, that I'm not sure if I would've been able to pay enough attention even if they were relevant. Between the new house, new job, etc. it was a good transition year for me, personally. Doesn't really make it any less painful, per se, but it was a good year for a forgettable year. I'm still going to be dying for baseball come March.
