  1. Very good post. Yep, couldn't agree more. It's exactly how I feel. I wish him all the best and will be rooting for him. (but, damn, I'm afraid of just afraid of how ridiculous he's going to look in those atrocious Marlins uniforms).
  2. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the part that it there are still rumors about adding Headley. To me, that is as interesting (if not more interesting) than dumping Soriano. Would Stewart become a bat off the bench in that case? I suppose he could be spun off to another team, as well. LOL. Check the date on that article. Good Lord. Well that makes more sense. I saw the bump in this thread and just assumed I had checked it recently when I clicked on "unread posts". It's been a loooooong week. Beer needed. Nothing to see here. Carry on.

  4. Just today I was thinking a three-way trade with cubs, tigers, pads could be a possibility given the reported conversations around both garza and rizzo. I agree the padres need just a bit more (probably from Cubs). Maybe someone like Lake? I have no clue what SD would covet from the cubs, though. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
  5. Play him outside Excellent point. If the Saints played the Packers in the Dome, I would take the Saints as my pick. But, with that game being in January in Lambeau, I think the Packers would win. This was also the argument made yesterday on ESPN radio. I believe it was Linda Cohn filling in for Scott Van Pelt. As always seems to be the case (with the exception of Doug Gottlieb), I enjoyed the show more listening to the "fill-in" host. Wow, it takes a really Einstein to make that point. Hold the presses folks: the Packers would play better at Lambeau in the freezing ass cold than a team that plays indoors and lives in the South. I suppose its necessary given this reply to point out that I was merely making an observation that I had also heard this point on the radio that same day. I was in no way saying it was an earth-shattering development. It's just a point that can sometimes get overlooked in a culture that gets tied up in stats. Living in the south, its sometimes easy to forget (or appreciate) what a factor this can be to a teams offense. Especially one that hasn't exactly set the world on fire when playing on the road. I guess the bigger reason for the post was to state how much I really don't care for Van Pelt, Cowherd, Golic, or the vast majority of espn radio talking heads. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

  7. Andy, I was saying this same thing verbatim yesterday. I'll be the first in line to admit they were dead wrong about Newton. While not my "favorite team" I pull for the panthers because they are more interesting when relevant and like to see local teams flourish. I thought he had potential but to do what he's done since day one is mind-blowing. Side note: as someone with absolutly no vesting interest in Green Bay or Rodgers, it has been fun murdering people on Facebook calling for Brees MVP. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk What arguments are being made and what is your retort? Just a lot of friends saying "I don't see how Brees can't win the MVP now" type of arguments. I'm not quite sure when so many of my friends became Saints/Brees fans, but anyway. Rodgers has more Touchdowns (45 vs 41), less than half as many interceptions (6 vs 13), a higher QB rating (122.5 vs 108.4) and better overall team record. Sure, Brees has more yardage, but the difference is fairly negligible. This is especially true since Brees threw the ball 120 more times than Rodgers (Brees = 8.17 yrd/pass attempt, Rodgers = 9.24 yrd/pass attempt). Both had extremely good seasons, and the season Brees had would probably win the MVP 9 times out of 10, but I don't see any way possible you could give him the nod over Rodgers. Oh, and I think co-MVPs are stupid. Pick one already.

  9. Yeah. To me it seems like it was a choice (either by the front office or one decided for them for monetary reasons) between Fielder or Darvish. I have to think Theo has a pretty good feeling Prince wants to come here and he has the offer in place to make that happen. I just simply can't wrap my mind around Theo coming here with the philosophy/budgetary constraints of essentially running the pirates. The backlash will be too great and I can't imagine he wants to endure that. I hope I'm not wrong. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
  10. Hmmm, I wasn't privy to Scott's blantant and appalling racism. Yeah, scratch him off the list.
  11. Bleacher Nation says the Cubs are interested in both Scott and Saunders. Scott would be interesting. Not as big on Saunders.
  12. that pic of Ricketts with the cig is badass. It's like half ash. Only a move that can be pulled off by those with the most swag.
  13. This is just ridiculous. And stupid. True. The Cubs' organization is in much worse shape than the Pirates'. Right on cue. Is anyone really losing sleep over DJL? It's not even boom or bust. It's boom or "meh". It's absolutely a gamble worth taking. That said, if the Cubs plan is to hand the job over to Stewart, then they must (and obviously expect them to) improve at at least a couple other positions. I have full faith in Theo and Co.
  14. a co-workers comment to my status update "we got Theo! Go Cubs!" ETA: I should add he's a Braves fan...
  15. I just giggled. At work. Also, Colin Cowherd is actually making some sense for once. He says its a great opportunity, great city, great fan base, and that the team can win - and now. Of course, Dempster is about to come on, so he may just be sucking up for his guest.
  16. Buster Olney just said that a prospect could be involved, "someone like a Brett Jackson". Go [expletive] yourself, Buster, and quit talking out of your ass.
  17. ryno really favors ray liotta in that last pic. I'm sold. Please don't [expletive] with me like this, theo, and then back out.
  18. What's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy [expletive] on the wall and the mozzarella sticks? Shenanigan's? *pistol whipped* I'll be in Charlotte for the ECU/USC game. Ruffin McNeil looks like a new man after his bariatric surgery this offseason. Our number one DB is suspended for the game for verbally assalting a police officer or some ish. Probably won't matter anyway, but I'm hoping for a close game...
  19. Minus whale. For all intensive purposes, we wouldn't be saving any money. I could care less about saving money. It's a doggy dog world. True. Irregardless, it's a mute point. Moot. (I'm on a roll in this thread) If it saves any money at all, I'd say deal him. Who cares at this point? And as was said earlier, it would be nice to know that he's really not even on their radar for next year (though I understand he could be traded and re-signed).
  20. Minus whale. For all intensive purposes, we wouldn't be saving any money. Intents and purposes.
  21. That is probably a much more valid observation of the situation. On top of that it's supposed to be a fairly weak draft class in 2012, right? No sense crying about wins. What will happen, will happen. Enjoy it. Lord knows we haven't seen enough of them to wish otherwise.
  22. McNabb deal reportedly done Skins get a six rounder in 2012 and 2013. That's better than having him warm the bench and create a distraction, I suppose.
  23. Why couldn't he just talk to him in the dugout between innings about these errors?
