  1. Maybe you guys didn't notice he's pitching opposite Lilly?
  2. I'm feeling pretty good about his one. Wells is just so damn studly.
  3. New background. Anybody still have that desktop wallpaper of Lilly with the serial killer hockey mask and blood splatter, etc.? Somebody has to know what I'm talking about.
  4. Don't worry, Aramis starts and breaks out this game (it has to happen eventually, right?). Cubs win 7-3.
  5. Yeah, if he can't be a feature back that makes sense. I never got the sense that Best couldn't be a feature back, though. He's not quite the grinder Mathews is, though. I'd still stand pat and target one of the latter group before trading a second round pick for a likely good, but not great, RB. Yeah, to reiterate what Sponge said, not only do I think they thought his style was a little too similar to Sproles, but I think the bigger question with Best was his durability. It stings to lose that second rounder when they still have that glaring hole at DT, but I think they definitely got the right guy they needed at RB. I still think AJ can swing a deal (Merriman?) to get a second round pick tonight.
  6. I'm definitely keeping tabs on this. I was leaning towards purchasing a PS3 because I still don't have a Blu Ray player, and this sounds great. My decision actually may come down to whether or not the Cubs can turn it around. If it looks like they may actually compete in a month or two, that may push me over the edge.
  7. I actually like the Matthews pick/trade from the Chargers. From all accounts he's a durable and dynamic back who has great speed, strength and is the clear-cut #2 back behind Spiller. I have my doubts that both Seattle and Houston would have let him slide to #28. They traded their #40 pick, but they only moved up to 40 from 60 thanks to the Whitehurst trade (plus they picked up a 3rd rounder in that trade). On top of that, they moved up 16 spots in the fourth round by swapping with the Dolphins. They really need a NT though and I could see Smith doing some dealing before tomorrow night to move into the second round.
  8. Congrats! Being the "cool" uncle is the best. Cubs score 3 off Santana and 2 off the pen. Gorz is solid and Cubs win 5-3.
  9. Excellent post, TT. My feelings are along the lines of many others. It's a dumb move, period. Gorzellany and Silva basically need to continue to be stellar like they've been so far, which is highly unlikely, for this reap any real benefits. And even then it's probably more of a lateral move than anything else. Regardless of this move, I still want to see Parker, Gaub, and/or Stevens replace some of the guys in the pen. But, for some reason I have the feeling this could be one of those things that is just idiotic enough to work - if it's temporary. Maybe Silva and Gorz will continue to shine (or close enough) and maybe Z will excel in the pen and be the spark this team needs as a high-energy shutdown set-up guy. I know that it's probably irrational to be this optimistic, but I'm often irrational regarding the Cubs. When this move to the pen inevitably fails, I'm sure I'll laugh at this bold faced outlook. I will say this, however. If this stops Hendry from doing something stupid like trading away Vitters or Jackson(s) or another A prospect for reliving help, then it may be worth it.
  10. So this is what an easy, relaxing win feels like. More please.
  11. Berg should have just stayed in the game, but at least it looks like Grabow has been demoted to LOOGY.
  12. Sorry. I was out of town this weekend and didn't realize it would get back around to me so quick. Thanks for picking dew.
  13. Maybe Lou is betting against the Cubs?
  14. Go Bobcats....I guess. Add me to the list that likes the NBA playoffs. I suppose it's because I'm really not a huge NBA fan and didn't watch much regular season action at all - just highlights and boxscores. So I normally start watching around this time and enjoy the games because they mean so much more. Therefore, I don't really have any problem with them "dragging on". I guess it's kind of like a casual baseball fan without a favorite team watching games in October just for the drama.
  15. I'll switch it up a bit here. It may be a bit of a reach at this spot, but I really like: http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2008/09/02/alg_knights-bulldogs.jpg Ryan Matthews - RB - Fresno State
  16. Nonverbal communication is extremely ambiguous.
  17. There's your problem. huh? Did you want him to turn around and run back to the dugout like a Little Leaguer?
  18. There is that mlb.tv lag...but I was hitting F5 like crazy because the suspense was killing me.
