  1. Hendrys trades the last 2 years tells me that he won't get the needed players .Obviously Dustys not the man to lead a roster of young players. The coaches are terrible. The minor leagues have very few position players. Even doing the right thing and rebuilding looks like it will fail the way things stand now.
  2. But we needed to dump Corey's salary in order to resign Neifi... Because Neifi saved us in 2005...
  3. Like all sports ,the top players and teams get the close calls.
  4. Dustys hands came out of his pockets.
  5. Uh, Pagan's in left. Jones throw on Lambs double to right.
  6. If I'm playing the Cubs,my baserunners would run on their outfielders at every chance.
  7. Was his baserunning against Jones new found aggressiveness? Or,was he showing the same terrible instincts on the basepaths he had here?
  8. I don't care if Murton ever hits 25 homers .If he hits .300 with a .350 obp that would be great.
  9. I went by another poster so I didn't mention Big Z all though he definately is a core player. Aram and Barrett could be core players but they would bring alot toward rebuilding. They need to rebuild as oppoesd to adding a few .Thats been done as long as I remember and we all know the results. While Barrett is a top hitter, his handling of pitchers and his defense hurts more than his hitting helps. Cedeno has always been a low obp guy with suspect defense and no power. Murton has potential but he probably needs to platoon for now.. While these guys may not seem bad,if you want an 80-85 win team keep Barrett.Cedeno, Walker,Jones, Dempster. If you want to win a championship get rid of these guys and rebuild for 08.
  10. And my comment about Neifi being like the coach's kid, which is quoted in Mizzou's sig...for which I say thanks, BTW. It's too bad Dusty doesn't manage to win instead. Yeah I know, he wants to win but man....he really does do some bonehead things. Constantly. Dusty creates an atmosphere that players like. Players are happy and play well and win. His managing has always been week.Teams have won in spite of his managing. His teams expect to win... Until the end of 2004 here... Williamson and Murton don't sound happy to me. Dusty keeps crappy players happy by over playing them, other than that I see nothing that he adds to a team. The atmosphere consisted of happy players and winning. What he brought to his teams hasn't been seen since late 2004.
  11. Everyone knows that Corey has all the tools physically and a high ceiling. There were and still are doubts that he will become a great player or even average. While the coaches are terrible, you have to look what you got back for him...nothing much. They gave him away. Thats what really bothers me. When you look at what they got, they should have kept him . He could have been the 4th outfielder. How much less could they have gotten in return if they waited another year?

  13. Blow it up! Enough of these high priced tweaks every year. Get some top prospects .Look down on the farm and there are very few. This 8 player core is really questionable. Looks more like 4 to me and 2 are setup guys.(Lee,Howry,Eyre,Marshall).
  14. You are the topic of message boards. Aren't you a sophomore-to-be Cal wide receiver? They didn't get the real big names. They got the "budget" big names. The Yankees and Red Sox got the big ones. Its ridiculous if money was the issue with the top ones when you consider how much they gave to Huseby. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2508432
  15. Shouldn't we let Dusty and his assistants go then? yes.
  16. Just because the Cubs and Sox don't play much,it doesn't mean that they aren't rivals. The majority of baseball fans in Chicago grow up as either Cubs or Sox fans. Whats the big deal about the Cubs Cards rivalry. They're just another division team that finishes above the Cubs. The Cards fans look at the Cubs as a joke. The Cards go to the playoffs and the Cubs get lucky and finish over 500. Notre Dame plays Navy every year in football but the teams are basically at 2 different levels.
  17. If you really want to punish him...make him the manager of the Cubs for the next 2 years. Dusty can go to the Southside and work his magic. The pain of the 2006 Cubs is being compounded by the success of the Sox.
  18. When people talk about an arm they usually refer to strength. His arm is strong but his accuaracy is awful. His release point is screwed up. Thats why he throws 7 hoppers to the cutoff man from time to time.Or,launches throws 10 feet over someones head. His routes to the ball are poor. And don't forget his baserunning which is awful. I don't care if he hits 30-35 homers. He is a poor fundamental ballplayer. He fits in well here.
  19. I would deal Barrett if the price is right. I would rather have a better defensive catcher. Mop up duty should fall to guys like Rich Hill etc. Let them gain major league experience. I'd consider moving Aram for a price. At least 2 top prospects.
  20. When have the Cubs ever had a fire sale? Deadline deals would be for prospects. Why would a contender open up one hole to fill another? Dempster should be moved. Its hard to have confidence in a closer that walks alot of batters. Hes always been like that,so its not a lack of work. The Cubs will most likely do very little.Probably trade Rusch for a 24 year old A ball pitcher.
  21. Tonight vs. Kane County Cougars. 6 innings 1 hit 6 k's 3 walks. Gave up only hit in the 5th. Throwing between 91-93. His breaking ball /change was about 68-72. Nice pickoff move also.
  22. Pierre walked!!!!!!!!!!! I believe thats number 12 for the year.
  23. Is Neifi really a better option than letting the pitcher bat?
