    Beckett gave up 8 runs vs.Yankees.They pulled him in the 2nd and put in Jermaine Van Buren.

    Hes hit well for 3 weeks. So? The rest of the team has sucked. His defense still is not that good. They are 13 1/2 games out. Why don't someone suggest that Jacque "saved' us in May like Neifi "saved" us last year. Could you imagine where the team would have been without him?

    Yes, a nice signing if your sights are on creating a .500 ballclub. World Series champs aim a tad bit higher. If we had a thumper in left and a better run producer in CF, Jones would be perfectly adequate in RF. Too bad we don't. Having said that, there wasn't much else available this past offseason (which wouldn't have been an issue had Hendry signed someone last offseason). Yes, yes. There's never anyone available. That's why we suck. ..........I'm goading you because I know you know better..... Hey, I am blaming Hendry for this mess. But who else was available this last offseason (and I don't want to hear Giles)? Hendry messed up this year's OF last offseason. He messed up alot of things, including the decent minor league situation we used to have. Jones didn't really hit well until May. Once he started the rest of the team quit. Pierre has been the lineups biggest problem.

    sorry Tiger, but I hardly fault Jones for that one. he ran, didnt taunt, just raised his finger (#1 style) in celebration It doesn't matter to me if it's taunting or celebration, you look stupid celebrating a home run that doesn't even give you the lead. Players that do that should expect some chin music.

    They spend 4 mil on a manager to finish under 500. 2.5 mil for a utility player, 2.5 mil on a batting practice lefty, about 12 mil on a starter who didn't start until a week ago etc...

    Wood pitched very well today. The defense didn't help him out though. His velocity is still short a few mph.

    With a 4 run lead Aardsma should have been able to start the 8th. This was Eyre's 4th day in a row coming in. Suprising Howry wasn't brought in for a batter. Hes pitched the last 3 days in a row! Keep killing our pitchers Dusty!

    The other day Z had a no-hitter going. Fly ball to Jones that he loses in the sun.They called it a hit. Today Todd Walker should have been charged with 2 errors on very catchable grounders.They scored them as hits. Whats the deal? Are the scorers under instructions to call it a hit as much as possible so the Cubs can say how much they improved their defense ?

    Wendell would've been fine on this team.Not many get to 3rd anyway.

    Agreed,but why don't Theriot get a shot too? Hes been here since the 8th and hasn't had 1 start. I'd rather see Bynum over those too also. I've seen those 2 long enough. Neifi is basically a late inning defensive sub and Hairston has no business on a winning team. Well,I guess Hairston fits in well with this team.
