  1. Even simple animals know that when you try to get some cheese and get shocked, you stop trying to get the cheese. But goddarnit, variable rewards systems, like gambling, tend to grab people. So Dusty sees some good results from bunting , you know what he's gonna do? BUNT SOME MORE. Of course spread over the course of a season its gonna have a very negative effect, but he wont worry about that. i'm curious to see what these "good results" are. It seems like whenever we bunt, that run never scores. There are complicated inter-related contingencies operating. Not the least of which is the private verbal behavior one engages in with relation to the social contingencis in operation. ------ And the Cubs find a new and more hurtful way to blow a game. :?
  2. Jones moves 90 feet to pickoff position.
  3. Hey... I like it !!! Note to self: Don't adovcate for Boche to replace Dusty. :D
  4. Very Dusty like.Hes become their version of Neifi
  5. Last year's Beernuts= definitely not. This year's Beernuts, yeah. Which is sad. Burnitz 3 for his last 35.
  6. He does throw well, just not accurate.Even though Dusty hasn't seen it with his own eyes, hes been missing cutoff men for years.
  7. Theres the shoulda been double play ball.Should be 2 outs with a runner on 1st, 3-0 Cubs but...
  8. nice throw JJ! Ya miss a cut off man and the runner moves up 90 feet.
  9. The 69 Cubs symbolize the lovable loser mentality.
  10. Why don't they have some 84 Cubs singing ? You know, the team that actually made the playoffs!
  11. I can't believe they were serious about a lefty! Especially when they have Rusch :D Rusch only throws batting practice to the opposing team.
  12. I can't believe they were serious about a lefty!
  13. Yeah but it the very right hand corner you'll see a lifeboat with Wood, Prior, Lee, and Miller in it They're leaving the ship though, not saving it.
  14. Dmitri Young
  15. Why do we need to call up another scrub?
  16. Did he really argue a call? And did he really argue or was it one of those where his hands never came out of his pockets.... :P His left hand was out for most of the 10 seconds.
  17. Is he starting Tuesday for Iowa? I'd have to check, but I think he's out of options. Well,we couldn't risk losing our only league leader. Actually hes tied with Livan Hernandez With 11 home runs. But Rusch only needed 29 2/3 innings and Livan needed 49 2/3.

  19. That makes him 5 for 8 on the season in the #2 spot. He really saved us today! I'd say he did what was asked of him..... now, if you could say that about Guzman and Rusch....... well, ..... never mind. Who asked him to make that throw in the 5th?
  20. That makes him 5 for 8 on the season in the #2 spot. He really saved us today! Neifi for MVP. Easily. I think I'm going to start writing him in on the All-Star ballots. Dusty can't do all them ballots himself!
  21. That makes him 5 for 8 on the season in the #2 spot. He really saved us today!
  22. Neifi 2-4 today hitting 2nd.Guess whos in the 2 hole tomorrow.
  23. While I believe better managing would have helped us win some of those close games during the losing streak, this is truly a terrible offensive roster. I really doubt any manager could make this a winning club. Out of our 3 outfielders, only Jacque Jones is #48 in OPS of 97 outfielders with 75 or more plate appearances. Murton, as much as we love him, is actually in the bottom half of OF's in OPS. And we all know about Juan Pierre. Ronny's OPS has really been falling lately, too. He's 15 out of 30 in MLB. The only player we could really expect better production from is Aramis. This is a wretched offense even with DLee. It is at least partly Dusty's fault for asking for these players, but this is not a team that will score many runs. Agreed for the most part. The offense is bad, bad, bad, but I still think it could be above .500 with the state of the NL. I just don't think the NL is very good, which only makes losing hurt more. I think we'll just disagree, then. There's no good way to measure a manager's impact on the team, but I figure no manager is going to be more important to a team than Derrek Lee was last year, and Derrek was good for an extra 10 or 11 wins. I'd love to see a guy come in and do something crazy, like go to a four-man rotation (using strict pitch counts, of course), but there's no innovation in modern managing. We don't have 4 starters.
