  1. Good luck with that... he's going to get crushed in Texas... And we thought our rotation has problems.
  2. Thats alot of money for a guy who only pitched well for the last 3 months. They shoulda traded him instead.
  3. Cubs are also giving cash or a ptbnl.Rangers are going to stretch him out with some sim games so he can start. http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060331&content_id=1379361&vkey=news_tex&fext=.jsp&c_id=tex
  4. Thats because the stat counts every minor leaguer. The A's try to avoid keeping the guy who strikes out 120 times.20 homers and at least 120K's, the Cubs got a spot for you.
  5. I feel a major reason why people are down on Pierre is because of what was given up for him for 1 year.
  6. Furcal wasn't going to help the rotation (and he was their primary FA target). I think it's about time the team use it's own capable farmhands. Use them or trade em while they still have a high value.
  7. Pagan can fill the spot that has been vacant since the departure of Miguel Dilone.
  8. Were the D-Rays willing to take Nolasco for Gathright in December?Remember they had alot of players to move and were asking for alot.Gathright would have been alot cheaper than Pierre and is not a free agent next year. The money saved paying Gathright could have been spent other places.Hendry seems to do whatever it takes to get the deal done. With all the talks with the D-Rays and unable to get anyone,I have to feel the D-Rays were asking for way too much.
  9. Why? Because he was Sammys "personal trainer".
  10. Charlie Finley once said something like "give me 25 guys on the last year of their contract and i'll win you a championship".
  11. Unlike other players that come back to coach,I believe Maddux doesn't have to.I think he has enough money to retire and play golf everyday.
  12. The question puts Grace in a tough spot.Hes been offered and has seen it.But he don't want to name names. No comment would have led to speculation also.I've read alot of people defend Sammy saying its not been proven. While its not been proven, how many people out there really believe Sammy has never done steroids?
  13. If Jones has a .350 OBP we'd all be happy. But hes been .320 with 120 k's.Cedeno and Murton are questions.140 AB'S by Murton is not a true indicator. The lineup has the potential to be very good but only time will tell.Injuries have to be considered. If Aram is out for awhile in comes Mabry. Then how does the lineup look?
  14. Cruz pitched very well 2 years ago with Mazzone.I stiil would take him over Wellemeyer.
  15. Would have rather have Choi than Mabry.Choi was Darren Bakers favorite player.
  16. Maybe we can trade Walker for Patterson then. The Orioles would want more than Walker.
  17. How dare they think with their heads and not their hearts!
  18. Maddux as pitching coach and Girardi as manager.
  19. Yes, they are considering demoting Wuertz if he doesn't get it together. Ryu might get his spot but the true beneficiary is Welly (unless he tanks in the final days they will keep him). You would think Wuertz would get the benefit of the doubt based on last year.Ryan Dempster didn't exactly pitch well last spring,or his first few starts, but they kept him.I thought a proven vet is supposed to come to spring training to get in shape for the season.Spring Training stats are misleading. Wuertz has pitched 106 games at the ml level.75 last year.I understand they needed Dempster. My point is that they didn't go by his stats. Is Wuertz really a proven vet? Plus, the Cubs couldn't afford to get rid of Dempster last year especially considering he started the year in the rotation.

  21. Someone mentioned in a previous post about playing the 3 rounds at different times,March,July,October.Something similar and making players play for the country they're citizens of.Also, reduce the number of teams.I didn't even know they played baseball in South Africa.
  22. 8 of the last 11,9 of the last 12 if you count Grant Johnson in 04 were pitchers.Theres a higher chance of them getting hurt before making it.
  23. Pitchers aren't allowed to throw 4 inches inside anymore.
  24. Colons not exactly Glendon Rusch here.He did have a great season.
