  1. Just found this blog on Rothschild. http://nadablog.com/94yac/?m=200505
  2. There are alot of "ifs" 1.Z needs to remain an ace and stay healthy. 2.Prior and Wood combining for 33 starts. 3.Maddux not slipping anymore. 4.Williams showing quality and consistency. 5A.Miller getting healthy. 5B.Rusch getting the job done. 5C.Hill being able to get ML players out consistently. 5D.Guzman being healthy and being able to get ML hitters out.
  3. Why is he so highly regarded?
  4. We seem to like trading for 23 year old A ball pitchers.
  5. Is it safe to say that we will get less for Walker than Patterson?
  6. Todd Walker is the best number 2 hitter on the team.Hes a lefty who had a .355 obp last year.He costs 2.5 mil a year and he has to fight for a job?Hes not a great fielder but hes not that bad.We have a rookie shortstop and leftfielder who have to prove they can hit consistently everyday.Their backups don't offer much hope.We sign JJ for all that money who hit .249 with 120k's in a small park and they hand him a job.But Walker has to prove himself?
  7. Yeah but Neifis one of Dustys boys."He saved us last year"
  8. I think thats why they're trying to move him.
  9. For the 2nd round games, pitchers are allowed up to 80 pitches. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/worldclassic2006/news/story?id=2307629
  10. Pierre should be fine at the top of the order. He may bunt more with Wrigleys high grass.Speed puts pressure on the defense. It may allow the number 2 hitter to see more fastballs.I'm more concerned about his defense. His arm and routes are not highly regarded.
  11. Dustys been through this a few times with Frisco.I don't think he'll be feeling added pressure.I think hes more concerned with not getting to the playoffs the last 2 years. If he gets to the playoffs the contracts there.
  12. This team doesn't need anymore distractions, it hasn't performed well when stressed. This team probably has a great deal of respect for Baker and any added pressure of "winning one for the skipper" will do more harm tham good. I guess we better not remind them how many years its been since a World Series.
  13. Williams may have a fraction of the skills but he probably figures more in the Cub future than Wood.Whether its pitching here or trade bait. Since you can't deal with the fact that he has never won more than 14 games, how about the fact that since 1998 he has pitched more than 175 innings or had over 30 starts twice.
  14. Coming off a 79 win season at around 4 mil,why should it even be considered now?I'm afraid that they'll be 10 over 500 in June or July, hand out the extensions, then tank.
  15. Dusty came in and had people expecting to win.It worked in 03.They fell apart at the end of 04 and last year was terrible.Dusty was not known as a great manager in Frisco. He created an successful enviorment in which his teams won. So,you live with his shortcomings as you go to the playoffs nearly every year. When you don,t get to the playoffs the last to years like us,then the shortcomings are noticed.I believe he needs at least 87 wins to be brought back.500 should not be acceptable for 4 mil a year.
  16. I am much more hopeful of Jerome Williams getting the job done than Kerry Wood. The 20k game and the 03 playoffs were great but his career has not been all it could have been.Hes never won more than 14,hes had alot of injuries.Hes making around 12 mil in the last year of his contract. If he comes back and pitches well,do you give him 5years at 60 mil?If you do,that is a huge gamble.Kerry Wood and Wade Miller returning should be strictly looked at as a bonus. We have a 5man rotation and we need them to perform. We also have Hill and Guzman close.
  17. A low error total and a high fielding % shows the ability to make the routine play consistently. It obviously doesn't reflect range, turning 2 etc.Cedeno deserves the chance to show what he can do.but he has made quite a few errors, many throwing. What I was suggesting was that if Neifi and Cedeno were on the field at the same time ,I would probably slide Cedeno to 2nd.But, if I got Cedeno at short, why would I put Neifi out there over Walker or Hairston.Neifi should not even be considered for 2nd.
  18. Cedeno made 12 errors in 65 games at AAA last year.Neifi made 10 in 130 games last year.Neifi has a .978 career fielding % at short. He was .982 last year tied for 2nd in the NL.
  19. If Neifi and Cedeno play at the same time, why should Neifi play second and not Cedeno?Cedeno may have better range but he is not close glove wise to Neifi.People who want Cedeno to play everyday are going to have to accept alot of errors and few walks.
  20. Will Carrolls article was very interesting and informative. But,he failed to mention Chris Carpenter coming back from a torn labrum.Guess it really didn't fit his arguement too well. When Woods ready we'll just see where his velocity is.If hes mid 90's then he has a chance.
  21. Scroll down to pick 395.Sam Fuld is also on list. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/draftday/y2004/tracker_position_CF_1.html
  22. Would have liked to seen him also. But,Pignatiello's a local kid also who may have a chance.
  23. Couldn't care less about basketball, or Jordan.
  24. Didn't Priors elbow problems exist before he arrived at camp the last couple of years as opposed to happening in camp?
  25. My memories are standing in line the day of the game for general admission seats.Same price for a doubleheader. Then being able to kick back and watch batting practice.
