  1. You are then assuming that they won't develop shoulder inflammation of their own as soon as any one of them starts pitching well.
  2. Lucky for the Japanese that all those errors won't come back to haunt them.
  3. I believe you are referring to Rick Cornett (I'd never once thought of him as looking like Villanueva, but now I think of it he kinda does). ND is not the most female-friendly team in terms of looks, that's for sure. Michigan will probably win the whole thing now - them or Louisville.
  4. Silly - and yet so painful. The shots of Cubans watching the game on big screens are a nice touch.
  5. There are so many obscenities. So many obscenities. Michigan 87, ND 84 in double OT on a buzzer-beating fadeaway 3 that had no business going in. NONE. Horton had no clue what he was doing and he passes over to his teammate who fires up a crazy shot with a second left and it goes in. How many times? How many times? Chris Quinn - one of the understated greats in ND history - goes out in predictable fashion. Fighting to the end with no one on his team stepping up. Although he missed the FT that set up the game-winning shot for Michigan, his team would never have gotten anywhere without him. 14 losses - 13 by single digits, 12 by 6 or less. I...don't even know what to say.

Crazy talk. Ben benched over 300 pounds and his vertical was measured at 39 inches at the NBA combine. I seriously doubt Ray will come close to those numbers at this year's combine -- Ray's ranked as the 92nd best NBA draft prospect by ESPN at the moment -- but we'll know for sure in a couple months. [rant]I'll go so far as to guarantee you that Torin Francis is ranked higher than Ray on this list, and yet Francis sucks terribly and as someone who's watched him closely for four years I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole that was covered in cellophane and had been treated with anti-germ medication. Francis is purely and simply awful and he's no doubt ranked higher than Ray (in fact I saw a mock draft a month ago that had SA picking him Francis with their 2nd round pick). I just don't like predraft rankings of players at all because they look only at tools and not at accomplishment.[/rant]

How many teams win anything with the entire backcourt being under 6' 3"? No team is ever going to win anything with the entire backcourt being under 6'3" if no team ever actually employs such a lineup. Like you said, I'm just thinking outside the box.
  8. For all the pissing and moaning Dusty and Hendry do about turning the double play, they seem awfully willing to overlook the fact that Neifi grounds into at the very least 3-5 times the double plays that Walker's defense prevents him from getting turned.
  9.   Wow, Barrett is crazy. In a good way. I love that dude.

Ray has much more raw athleticism than Ben Gordon in my mind (although Ben is the slightly better shooter). His 6-2 height means less than Gordon's "deficiency". However, I don't think the Bulls want him or will get him.
  11. No they have a calendar with Bonds name on it and a bunch of letters on it. Like G under October 16th, H, W October 13th. What else are we supposed to believe that the calendar was for? Anderson is a noted steroids dealer and former user, and he is Barry's personal trainer. A calendar in his home with Barry's name on it is hardly going to be for things like picking up the kids from day care or going on a conference call to berate 50 more reporters for not being perfect human beings and then daring to criticize him for cheating and breaking the law.
  12. NC State's victory over ND was a neutral-site win, not a road win, as it was in the Wooden Tradition in Indy.

Give me Aldridge and Allan Ray if possible. The Ray pick would be contingent on the Bulls trading one of their guards in the off-season, which they will probably do, I think.
  14. My merely .500 2nd round performance has knocked me to 8th in the NSBB Facebook pool and a tie for 14th in the Yahoo pick 'em. Hopefully my Final 4 teams can carry me through, however.
  15. <3 Allan Ray. Villanova wins, pushing me to even for the day, even for the round, with 6 of my elite 8's and all my final 4's still breathing. What a great 4 days.
  16. SweetPete, the Braves pretty much dominated the game and never allowed Krauser to get untracked. They really didn't look a thing like a 13-seed. Best of luck against Memphis. :D I still have all four, which is about the only thing that has gone right today in my picks.
  17. I'll tell you what, Allan Ray won't blow you away with stats or overwhelming athleticism, but he is a VERY good basketball player. He's officially my favorite player in this tournament other than Pittsnogle. Nova well on their way to advancing a 4th Big East team on to the Sweet 16. :D
  18. Say goodbye to Elite 8 team number two, and the last remaining Big Ten team. An unexpectedly awful showing from what appeared to be a very solid conference all year. This is probably the worst one can do in their brackets while still having a very solid chance of winning the pools.
  19. Does any player look more representative of his state than Pittsnogle? White, goatee, too many tattoos, and probably bad teeth? And his name is Pittsnogle. Basically, when I think of people from WV, I think of Pittsnogle. It is his sheer West Virginia-ness that makes Pittsnogle so oddly lovable. :D But I'm worried about that WV-Texas matchup.
  20. Any talk yet about who the new Ball State coach might be?None yet. But the hot rumor is that the guy who coached before Buckley, Ray McCallum, could return. O$U assistant John Groce and Iowa assoc. head coach Craig Neal have also expressed an interest. It should be interesting to see who comes in. OSU is annoying me. I can't believe I was worried about this team beating Villanova.
  21. Northwestern State - You just got Pittsnogled. Ohio State, Nova and (hopefully to screw up more brackets) NC State to come.
  22. Whew. Clutch FT's by Williams and Gay clinch it. With only Washington and then Mason/Wichita left in the region, I'm not worried about UConn as long as they show up. Now, if WV wins I'll still have all my Final 4 intact going into the Nova game.
  23. The Bucks game last week stuck a fork in them in my mind.
  24. If UConn does end up winning this, and Nova and OSU win later, I will somehow still be in good shape despite the fact that I'm 1-2 today with my first Elite 8 team down in UNC.
  25. Hahaha wow. UNC already would've lost to Murray St if they hadn't had their leading scorer break a bone in the first half then they lose to George Mason. What a kerplunk way for the champs to leave. UConn's only up 3. Come on Huskies!!!!
