  1. None. But it's about as realistic as Pujols EVER stepping foot in the outfield again. Funny, because zero is probably a BETTER chance than DLee has of ever playing a position outside of first base. At least Pujols has done it before.
  2. If said manager had Derrek Lee on the team with him it's quite likely he would. The Cardinal organization would go ballistic if ANYBODY stuck Albert in the outfield. You guys can have your imaginary fun, but in reality, it would NEVER happen. Pujols would start at first base, and Derrek Lee would be a pinch-hitter extraordinaire. The Ranger organization would go ballistic if ANYBODY stuck Alex Rodriguez at third base. You can have your imaginary fun, but in reality it would NEVER happen. Jeter would start at SS, and Alex Rodriguez would be a pinch hitter extraordinaire. Moving an athletic shortstop to third base is alot different than moving a big strong body to the outfield, where there's a higher risk of injury. If you want Pujols and Derrek Lee both on the team, then take Aramis off, and put Pujols at third base. Aramis is leaving the all NL team either. I'd still put AP in LF and DLee at 1B. Because you're a Cub fan, and there's no accountability for you. Nobody else would even dream of it, at this point in Pujols' career. It's easy for you to call me a homer but I think it makes the most sense. I don't see anyone complaining about ManRam roaming around LF. Pujols would be fine out there; I consider him a better athlete than Manny. Derrek Lee helps the team more by anchoring the infield at 1B. That's clear thinking not biased. Cool. Then let's put Rolen at 2nd base. I'm sure he could handle it. How many major league innings has Rolen played at 2nd?
  3. I'm sure this has been mentioned umpteen times on this board, but Bill James and his wild statistical formulas took all the factors into consideration and says that this was the single most dominating pitching performance in the history of baseball. Not that I doubt you but where did you read this? Also the Gaetti fan club loves NSBB! http://www.stathead.com/bbeng/woolner/statglossary.htm Bill James' Game Score formula measures pitcher dominance in a particular game: 1. Start with 50 points 2. Add 1 point for every out (3 points = 1 IP) 3. Add 2 points for each inning completed after the 4th 4. Add 1 point for every strikeout 5. Subtract 2 points for each hit allowed 6. Subtract 4 for each earned run allowed 7. Subtract 2 for each unearned run allowed 8. Subtract 1 for each walk The top game score in the history of baseball is Kerry's 20k game with a score of 105. Actually, it's Number 2 behind Harvey Haddix's 12-inning near-perfecto. Kerry's is Number 1 for nine-inning games.
  4. I doubt it. Splendid work, Marco, I downloaded it and will use it religiously. :D
  5. Reyes will get his shot. We might as well ride Ponson as far as we can. Let Reyes work on pitch selection and location in AAA. Maybe we trade Ponson before the deadline for another outfield bat and bring Reyes up for the stretch run. This really doesn't seem like a big deal to me. The Cardinals have gotten big dividends from reclamation projects before, maybe Duncan can work his magic on Ponson too. Turning mediocre vets' careers around is what he seems to do well. While I'm sure he's large enough to piggy back most of the team, I'm not sure he's got the endurance to go very far. The Verdict: Vaball left the door wide open for that one. :)
  6. Well that moved quickly. WRTV channel 6 is reporting that Brad Brownell is expected to be introduced as the new coach at Ball State University later this week. Good hire - it's clear that AD Tom Collins wanted to go with someone who had had success as a head coach already. The bad news is that D'Andre Peyton, Chris Ames, Landon Adler and MAC Freshman of the Year Maurice Acker are all considering transferring. (Peyton and Acker were starters.) Having already lost the 2004 MAC Freshman of the Year in football when Adell Givens couldn't keep his grades up, I'm really sick of losing the few talented players that come through here.

  8. I honestly don't know why so many (for the MAC) high-profile people are considering coming - we have the whole Indiana factor and such, and we went to the Sweet 16 sixteen years ago, but other than that not much success lately to speak of - used to be a MAC dynasty though and I suppose there's the "let's build it back up" mentality about it. I'd still like Tony Barbee, but since he's an assistant at Memphis, and BSU parades itself as an academic school now (top 5 in grad rates in the country in recent surveys) I don't think that will happen.

  10. I don't know if even the most optimistic of us see that happening.
  11. 1. Sammy - Probably was the single biggest factor in my becoming a Cubs fan 2. Zambrano - It's a pleasure to watch the guy pitch 3. Prior - Frustrates me to no end, but when he is on I can't think of one pitcher I'd rather watch 4. Gary Gaetti - Once my friend and I were watching a game and Gaetti hit a grand slam. To this day, our running joke when the bases are loaded is "call in Gaetti" 5. Eric Karros - Liked him during the 2003 season for his bench play. Loved him at the end of it when it became clear just how much he loved playing at Wrigley Edited when I realized I can't count
  12. UNC-Wilmington head coach Brad Brownell was in Muncie recently to interview for the Ball State coaching job. He's done a great job at UNCW, so this would also be a good hire.

You've been listening to Skip Bayless? haven't you? He said the same thing about Morrison.I would never agree with Skip unless I felt very strongly about something, and I feel very strongly that Morrison's game won't translate well to the NBA. (I did not know that Skip said that) Bulls choke. Again. This is going to be a "who wants it least" race for the 8th seed.
  14. If we draft Morrison I will disavow this team. There's no question in my mind that he is not going to be a great pro, and probably not even a very good one. He can't create spacing from anyone. Anyway - Bulls up 9 now with under 9 minutes left. Hinrich is playing brilliant basketball with 13 points, 12 assists and 7 steals. And for the record - Philly plays Detroit tomorrow.
  15. I can assist if you find it a bit too much of a load.
  16. Nomar is a beast? Nomar is a shell of his former self with no chance of being a solid full-time shortstop. His spring training hot streak fooled a lot of people into thinking he was back to his original self. Who's to say he wouldn't have been over the full season had the Groin Rip not occurred? After all, he started raking when he came back in a much larger sample size of AB's than his pre-injury season.
  17. As a guy who scooped Shelton in one of the final rounds in his fantasy draft... :joker: Celebration!
  18. I can't wait for Lincoln Holdzkom and Rubby Perez to come out with their first joint CD. This is the beginning of a beautiful partnership.

  20. Pagan is a better hitter than Goodwin, but probably not as SB-efficient. I'd be surprised and pleased if Pagan could steal bases as well as Goodwin did in 2003.
  21. In fairness to the Cubs and Prior, this is easily the quickest that one of Prior's arm issues has eased to the point where he can throw again. I'd expect him back by mid-May at the very latest.
  22. Give him time.
  23. Nice straw man. I think Paxson will make the team better this off season. Overpaying for a name player won't accomplish that, and Paxson's moves to date suggest he recognizes that. I would trade both the picks in a Garnett deal though. I used to think that too but Garnett is acting more and more like T.O. lately. And if we know one thing about Paxson and Skiles, we know they hate guys that aren't total team guys.
  24. I have no worries about Murton. He's done nothing but rake the whole time he's been in the Cub organization. But what's with "no doubt about it"? Why does everyone say that on this team and who started it?
  25. Wow. What happened to the manic genius of La Russa? This is downright Dusty-esque.
