  1. Games I can win: Duke WV Memphis UCLA UConn Nova Other Games: Go George Mason Go Georgetown
  2. You don't wanna know what I think about when I see the name Bush. *cough* my sig *cough**cough* Speaking of which, I've decided after a lot of passing by your sig in threads that the girl on the right just edges out the girl on the left. Barely.
  3. Somehow I knew that no one would go with the "it'll be cool to see the President throw out the first pitch at our Opening Day game" angle and go with the "I hate Bush" angle. There are countless threads in Rants in which Bush-bashing is not just accepted but downright encouraged. Go there.

  5. Bowden has stated that he will field offers for Soriano but he isn't going to give him away. I'm guessing dealing for a guy who the Cubs can't get an Orioles player who can't beat out Patterson for a CF spot, at a position they already have filled, would fall under that category.
  6. Try getting called for a T for hanging on the rim in the last 2 minutes when the same exact dunk has been done by all teams all year without one being called. That happened to us last year against Vermont. This post brought back major flashbacks of the Bulls-Wizards series when one of our guys (I think Tyson but I can't be certain) got T'd up for no apparent reason supposedly for hanging on the rim. A few games later in the series, Etan Thomas dunked the ball, hung on the rim, even pulled himself up and smacked the backboard emphatically, and no T was called. I was irate with the officiating through all of the final 4 games of that series, but that especially drove me nuts. Off topic, I know.
  7. No, no, you're not quite right...it's only crappy lefties and rookies that own us
  8. how is joe morgan not in your 'announcers to punch'? Paul Maguire and Keith Jackson also belong on that list.
  9. The Nats asked for permission from the Rangers to speak with Soriano prior to the trade. Permission was denied. I wonder if this was because Texas knew Washington wanted to make him an OF, and Texas already knew he didn't want to do that...
  10. I think you guys had enough losses like this to last you for a couple of years. Next year things should be turned in your favor. Of course since Syr beat you by double digits that should continue. You only beat us by six. Although you probably dominated ND in that game more so than any team other than NC State did this whole season, sadly enough. Unfortunately, I think next season might have to be a rebuilding year. You lose two guys who have started for the last three years (Francis for the last four) and it isn't going to be easy to replace them. We'll see. I have to mention that I loved Brey's reaction to the shot - he just laughed and headed over to Amaker to shake his hand. I think he was just glad to be done with this season.
  11. ok, i gotta say, your avatar really makes me question your sincerity...that damn red bird....   It's the Ball State Cardinal, not the St. Louis Cardinal, I assure you. Reference the Wrigley sign in my sig if you don't believe me. Dont be shy, it's a good lifestyle. http://216.127.78.103/~dutch-starwars.com/database/personen/pics/luke2.jpg "I'll never join the dark side."
  12. Check the front page. http://www.northsidebaseball.com Oh, ok, thanks. I just saw the one that made you do the $5/month plan and not the one that let you do it all at once. Sending in the payment now - my tax refund is paying for this. :D

  14. Hey Tim - Is there a way to PayPal the 50 dollars for a one-year subscription?
  15. And the Japanese win the world championship. Class from the Cubans congratulating them. Overall, a very strong debut for the WBC, although obviously the format could be altered slightly.
  16. Speaking of guys that are raking, Matt Murton hitting .517! Of course I can't help but think about what happened to the last Cub starter to rake in ST... (Nomar)
  17. You are then assuming that they won't develop shoulder inflammation of their own as soon as any one of them starts pitching well.
  18. Lucky for the Japanese that all those errors won't come back to haunt them.
  19. I believe you are referring to Rick Cornett (I'd never once thought of him as looking like Villanueva, but now I think of it he kinda does). ND is not the most female-friendly team in terms of looks, that's for sure. Michigan will probably win the whole thing now - them or Louisville.
  20. Silly - and yet so painful. The shots of Cubans watching the game on big screens are a nice touch.
  21. There are so many obscenities. So many obscenities. Michigan 87, ND 84 in double OT on a buzzer-beating fadeaway 3 that had no business going in. NONE. Horton had no clue what he was doing and he passes over to his teammate who fires up a crazy shot with a second left and it goes in. How many times? How many times? Chris Quinn - one of the understated greats in ND history - goes out in predictable fashion. Fighting to the end with no one on his team stepping up. Although he missed the FT that set up the game-winning shot for Michigan, his team would never have gotten anywhere without him. 14 losses - 13 by single digits, 12 by 6 or less. I...don't even know what to say.

Crazy talk. Ben benched over 300 pounds and his vertical was measured at 39 inches at the NBA combine. I seriously doubt Ray will come close to those numbers at this year's combine -- Ray's ranked as the 92nd best NBA draft prospect by ESPN at the moment -- but we'll know for sure in a couple months. [rant]I'll go so far as to guarantee you that Torin Francis is ranked higher than Ray on this list, and yet Francis sucks terribly and as someone who's watched him closely for four years I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole that was covered in cellophane and had been treated with anti-germ medication. Francis is purely and simply awful and he's no doubt ranked higher than Ray (in fact I saw a mock draft a month ago that had SA picking him Francis with their 2nd round pick). I just don't like predraft rankings of players at all because they look only at tools and not at accomplishment.[/rant]

How many teams win anything with the entire backcourt being under 6' 3"? No team is ever going to win anything with the entire backcourt being under 6'3" if no team ever actually employs such a lineup. Like you said, I'm just thinking outside the box.
  24. For all the pissing and moaning Dusty and Hendry do about turning the double play, they seem awfully willing to overlook the fact that Neifi grounds into at the very least 3-5 times the double plays that Walker's defense prevents him from getting turned.
  25.   Wow, Barrett is crazy. In a good way. I love that dude.
