  1. I don't know if even the most optimistic of us see that happening.
  2. 1. Sammy - Probably was the single biggest factor in my becoming a Cubs fan 2. Zambrano - It's a pleasure to watch the guy pitch 3. Prior - Frustrates me to no end, but when he is on I can't think of one pitcher I'd rather watch 4. Gary Gaetti - Once my friend and I were watching a game and Gaetti hit a grand slam. To this day, our running joke when the bases are loaded is "call in Gaetti" 5. Eric Karros - Liked him during the 2003 season for his bench play. Loved him at the end of it when it became clear just how much he loved playing at Wrigley Edited when I realized I can't count
  3. UNC-Wilmington head coach Brad Brownell was in Muncie recently to interview for the Ball State coaching job. He's done a great job at UNCW, so this would also be a good hire.

You've been listening to Skip Bayless? haven't you? He said the same thing about Morrison.I would never agree with Skip unless I felt very strongly about something, and I feel very strongly that Morrison's game won't translate well to the NBA. (I did not know that Skip said that) Bulls choke. Again. This is going to be a "who wants it least" race for the 8th seed.
  5. If we draft Morrison I will disavow this team. There's no question in my mind that he is not going to be a great pro, and probably not even a very good one. He can't create spacing from anyone. Anyway - Bulls up 9 now with under 9 minutes left. Hinrich is playing brilliant basketball with 13 points, 12 assists and 7 steals. And for the record - Philly plays Detroit tomorrow.
  6. I can assist if you find it a bit too much of a load.
  7. Nomar is a beast? Nomar is a shell of his former self with no chance of being a solid full-time shortstop. His spring training hot streak fooled a lot of people into thinking he was back to his original self. Who's to say he wouldn't have been over the full season had the Groin Rip not occurred? After all, he started raking when he came back in a much larger sample size of AB's than his pre-injury season.
  8. As a guy who scooped Shelton in one of the final rounds in his fantasy draft... :joker: Celebration!
  9. I can't wait for Lincoln Holdzkom and Rubby Perez to come out with their first joint CD. This is the beginning of a beautiful partnership.

  11. Pagan is a better hitter than Goodwin, but probably not as SB-efficient. I'd be surprised and pleased if Pagan could steal bases as well as Goodwin did in 2003.
  12. In fairness to the Cubs and Prior, this is easily the quickest that one of Prior's arm issues has eased to the point where he can throw again. I'd expect him back by mid-May at the very latest.
  13. Give him time.
  14. Nice straw man. I think Paxson will make the team better this off season. Overpaying for a name player won't accomplish that, and Paxson's moves to date suggest he recognizes that. I would trade both the picks in a Garnett deal though. I used to think that too but Garnett is acting more and more like T.O. lately. And if we know one thing about Paxson and Skiles, we know they hate guys that aren't total team guys.
  15. I have no worries about Murton. He's done nothing but rake the whole time he's been in the Cub organization. But what's with "no doubt about it"? Why does everyone say that on this team and who started it?
  16. Wow. What happened to the manic genius of La Russa? This is downright Dusty-esque.
  17. Haha, that was actually good. For my money, Jenks. A lot of people are prone to get into fights. Only one lights his arm on fire.
  18. He's on the list. Oops. Sorry Serena, give me Thome instead I guess.
  19. Finally a Prior injury turns out to not be a big deal (at least on the Cubs Pitcher Scale).
  20. Yes, 6 out of 8 in my pool failed to get one right, and I was the only one that has a final two team left (also UCLA). This is ridiculous. I've been to the ESPN Zone in Chicago a couple of times, once last July and once for this year's Duke-UNC game at Cameron, and I honestly can't think of a better place to watch March Madness. The ESPN burger is the best burger I've had anywhere and there's at least 12 different television feeds broadcasting at once, any one of which you can watch (on a short delay) from your booth on a miniature screen. It's a fantastic place (not sure if the Vegas one is any different).

"As far as I know, I'm coming back", said LaMarcus Aldridge in today's Austin American-Statesman. Figures that we'd get a top 3 pick in the Year of No Can't-Misses. Would any of the guys currently being floated as top picks even have been top 5 in the Wade-Melo-LeBron-Hinrich draft?
  22. Got to go with Florida thanks to the Noah factor. Florida/LSU would be a fantastic title game IMO.
  23. Agree with you. I remember someone here last year laughing because Ensberg was the cleanup hitter.....turns out, that worked out OK for them to. IMO Ensberg is quite possibly the most underrated player in the league. He puts up top-tier 3B numbers but never gets mentioned among the best at the position.
  24. Dude. Fantastic sig.
  25. Vance, I'll humbly suggest this one: http://i12.ebayimg.com/01/i/06/9c/cd/8f_1.JPG
