  1. Watch them go right back to the Series in 07 or 08 with this team as the nucleus.
  2. That's actually pretty good - the Chef. Might use that as a backup to Slap Nasty (and yes CubinMemphis, I'll give you credit for that :D ).
  3. <3 Ben Gordon <3 .5 behind Philly. We play them tomorrow. HUGE game. 1.5 behind Pacers - getting the 7th seed would be nice, Bulls.

Noah is legitimately the only college basketball player in the country that I am sure will excel on the next level, so naturally he is going to stay in school rather than go to the Bulls at No. 1 :x
  5. That wouldn't be good enough, he has to win 15 before we consider him any good.

    Bonds

I loved his face when he saw it, too. He looked like he was going to run in there and start cracking people in half with his PED muscles.
  7. It's just like the logging companies who plant 2 trees for every 1 they cut down. It seems as though the Cubs have been doing the opposite. Novoa, Moore and Flowers for Farnsworth. Blackford and Burrows for Hollandsworth. Two guys for Welly. Whomever for Remlinger. Does it matter? Yeah, I know about Mitre, Nolasco and Pinto for Pierre, but the Cubs have added to the system as they've gone. Some of the moves may turn out to be nothing for nothing, but Murton doesn't look to be a bad catch at this point. He may end up being the best guy that changed hands during that four-team deal. I'd say he already is. :D Barring catastrophic occurrences of course *knock on wood*
  8. No, I don't think rubbing steroid cream on himself resulted in 73 bombs. I believe that his use of human growth hormone, cow steroids, and all kinds of other PEDs obtained through his BALCO-linked trainer Greg Anderson resulted in it, and also in his being walked a billion times since.
  9. I like Slap Nasty with Slappy for short. Note: I used to call Murton "Leprechaun" but after a hilarious comment in yesterday's game thread, I nominate The Big Murt for him.
  10. All things considered...if that's what it looks like, I can't say I'm upset, or suprised. If that's all there is then I have absolutely no problem with it. Obviously in an ideal world there would be no advertising (apart from the mildly entertaining Miller Lite signs on the house behind RF and the traditional Budweiser building in left center), but the Trib has to fill their own pockets I suppose, and there are much more distasteful things they could do.
  11. The Hairston fiasco was due to a technical mistake. The defense was listed on-screen as Neifi at SS, Hairston at 2B, and moreover Prior pitching. Brenly obviously should have realized that Walker had already batted, but it wasn't his fault some moran on the technical side ran a Pepsi defense from late last year.
  12. I don't think that's the point. He's still better than Konerko so expect his contract to be in that neighborhood. The Cubs don't want him to become a FA and have other teams attempt to drive up the price. I'm sure some teams would be very willing to overpay so the Cubs will want to be generous without breaking the bank. The best time to do that is now. But Konerko won a world series so he's clutch or something. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Lee get a lesser contract than Konerko. I haven't read the rest of the comments but I assume you're joking. Oh yeah, DLee has also won a WS (just not with the Cubs). Lee's contract will be the same or greater than Konerko's (my bet is it will be more). If it's more, I'm guessing it won't be as a Cub.
  13. You think that would beat this team on a consistent basis: C - Varitek 1B - Pujols 2B - Soriano 3B - ARod SS - Tejada LF - Manny CF - Andruw RF - Vlad Because that team is the HR leaders at their positions over the past couple years. I'm sure your team would win a few games. But if our two teams played a 162 game schedule against each other with equivalent pitching staffs, I'd bet my team wins more than 110 games. Don't forget to bat Soriano leadoff, because he's small and fast. In all seriousness, though, it's great to see the Cubs put some pressure on the opposing team while running the bases nowadays and I hope it continues.
  14. What does Ron Santo have to do with the Cubs winning? Of course I want the Cubs to win. I'd also like to be able to listen to a broadcast and find out how they won -- not listen to him read faxes from 87-year-old women and talk about a volleyball court in his dead buddy's backyard. If they won....they scored more runs than the other team. In this day of 24 hours sports channels.....internet....non-stop media.....there are plenty of ways to find out the details....if you are really interested. You were bashing Santo for being a representation of Cub fans...."silly..misinformed...rah rah"....my point was....MOST baseball fans are silly and rah rah. Baseball isnt that important....and people just want thier team to win. Santo is a fan...not an analyst...and he does not pretend to be. There are plenty of stuffed shirt broadcasters...around....and stats out the ying yang to keep you amused if thats what you are after. I like Ron....and I know he feels my pain. Pat is there to keep things going..and he will inform you of the details. I think Ron is harmless..and he adds to the enjoyment of listening to the game on radio....for me anyway. Obviously...some people dont feel this way. My thoughts exactly. Ronny going crazy in the booth on big plays for the Cubs get me even more excited than usual.
  15. Ball State to name Arkansas assistant Ronny Thompson, son of John Thompson and brother of John Thompson III, as new head coach

    Bonds

Throwing things on the field is definitely not OK, but I think I would have busted a gut if someone threw high heels at Finley. I know for a fact that people threw bits of cork at Sammy, so TT may be making a sarcastic comment about incidents that actually happened.
  17. I now have 7 thanks to A-Rod. I'm torching you guys :D
  18. Not to brag, but that homer put me in first by myself in the NSBB HR Derby
  19. Day 1: Victor Martinez Day 2: Juan Pierre Day 3: Chone Figgins - you're up.
  20. I picked the BOB, now known as Chase Field, because I don't think it gets enough credit. It looks like a very fun place to watch a ball game.
  21. This guy really seems to hate AJ Pierzynski - which makes me like him quite a bit.
  22. I put mine on last Monday and the only time it will come off this season will be for showers.
  23. Mike Remlinger sighting in the Braves/Dodgers game.
  24. I'm pretty sure it's a season high.
