  1. I keep having to remind myself that my NFL team is going to be one of the NFC favorites and that my college team is supposed to compete for a title this year to get through this Cubs' season.
  2. Well, ok, I guess I don't have it that bad (Panthers NFC title from 2003 is mine)
  3. I'm pretty sure I may never again see one of my teams win a title - but hey, let's watch the most inept offense in baseball ply their trade! Woo-hoo! :(
  4. I predict that the Cubs will be leading the whole game until the Bulls game ends and I start fully paying attention to the Cubs game. The Cubs will immediately give up 5 runs in whatever inning they are playing in.
  5. He's had two bad starts, that doesn't mean he's not ready for this level necessarily. It means that he has had two bad starts - nothing more. Now if it's a month from now and he hasn't had a good start yet, then we can talk.
  6. I think it's much more disconncerting that Kerry hasn't had enough seasons where he's pitched enough innings to get the starts needed to get to the 15-win mark than the fact that he has not actually gotten 15 in a season.
  7. It's kind of unfair to ask Aramis to put up Sammy's 2001 numbers. For a whole season, yes, but Aramis has shown that he can have a two-week hot streak or two over the course of a season, and it'd be nice if he had one now.
  8. I called Angel Guzman giving up 715 some time ago.
  9. The 2001 Sammy Sosa had a team like this and they won 88 games. If the current 2006 team continued on, they'd probably win 75 or less. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it'd be nice if Aramis could put the team on his back and carry us for a while.
  10. Another victim of the Cubs "No Malcontents" House-Cleaning. I miss you Big Mo.
  11. It helps your OPS when pitchers are still too damn scared to throw you a strike because that's what they've been conditioned to think for five years, ignoring the fact that he is hitting .250 and can't run to save his life.
  12. I'm a little lost here, I started the thread last time cubscott34 was up just a couple of days ago so wouldn't it technically still be his turn until he starts one that we lose?
  13. I was about to ask about this. Since we lost, the on-deck user should get the thread, eh?
  14. If the Cubs had to suck for an entire week, then at least they picked finals week.
  15. Refs helped out Miami through the 1st quarter and any time we were about to grab control thereafter, but when Gordon, Hinrich and Deng all play absolutely terrible games, you're not gonna win. Bottom line. Best we can hope for now is to hold serve at the UC and put it all on the line for a Game 7.

They are also officially "out of their minds". That said -- I do respect their decisions as not many could hold off even a year on that pay day. Brewer and Horford have a good shot to improve their draft stock with another year in school. Noah's stock can only go down; he has little chance of being the number 1 pick next year if Oden declares. Which is fine by me if the Knicks go belly up again next year. Oden or Noah would be great fits for this team.
  17. 7 pm CT on TNT. FWIW, Bob Ryan said today that the Heat would win tonight but the Bulls will win the series.
  18. Remember the Dusty and Kerry Show from 2004?
  19. The best part about Wellbutrin is that it has a low risk of sexual side effects - or so I hear
  20. Just curious, who was talking about Walker not being a team guy? I know he received more than his fair share of criticism of his defense and people doubted whether he could actually play first base, but I don't remember any talk of him not being a team guy. I'm not saying your wrong, but I would like to be enlightened on this subject. The whole reason the Cubs were considering trading him to begin with, apart from his perceived lack of defense, was the fact that he is pretty outspoken. Also, many on this board were lighting into him, and somewhat justifiably, after his radio interview in ST where he said that he'd already been named starting 2B even though it hadn't officially happened yet and Dusty refuted his assertion.
  21. Because the coaching staff can't screw up good pitchers as much as they can screw up good hitters
  22. I love Len to death, but no one in this business is better at calling a game-deciding play than Chip Caray.
  23. All that ridiculous talk about him not being a team guy can go right out the window. He's gone over to 1B without so much as a peep, and he's hitting over .350 and doing whatever he needs to do. Hats off to him for responding to all the offseason trade talk by playing his ass off rather than spouting off all the time.
  24. I hear the '89/'06 comparisons a lot, but having been 2 for most of '89 I can't testify. From the sounds of it '89 was a really exciting young team to watch, and these Cubs are being carried on the backs of Murton, Marshall and Maddux right now. It's amazing what we've seen this team manage to do with the vast majority of the team struggling or injured.
