    If he was a Cub, yes. But since he isn't he will go on to a multiple Cy Young career. Len said they were both in West Tenn last year, so yes.

    Mike Piazza was a 62nd round pick, and the only reason Lasorda took him was as a favor to Piazza's relative (I forget which one exactly). Why can't we catch that?

    Barrett punching AJ was completely uncalled for in that circumstance. I would've done it too. Completely agree with the decision. (if that makes any sense)

    If I were there I'd be yelling that he should've run to first after being punched in the face and maybe the ump would've given him first base in the confusion. I'd settle for "Don't piss off Barrett, he won't pull his punch this time"

    Guillen was on that RCAA list with Neifi as one of the worst ever, so Ozzie by an eyelash.

    Well, the sad thing is that Barrett jacking Pierzynski in the face is probably going to be the highlight of the season. Since the year's pretty much over anyway, I'm glad he did it. I know he was at fault, but I think Barrett knows as well as anyone that AJP has deserved a few cracks in the face for a while.

    Barrett dropping the third strike of the third out of the bottom of the ninth in Philly last year then throwing the ball to the wrong base.... ....that was the worst play ever. That was a mistake made in the heat of the moment. A more apt comparison would be if Barrett had decided beforehand to throw the ball to the wrong base in the hopes of catching someone napping off of another base.

    Neifi's quote is great "I've been struggling with the bat right now." By "right now" he apparently means "for the last 5 years." Absolutely unreal. Dusty's been topping himself lately but he's going to find it difficult to go much stupider than this instance.

    Pierre was at his pathetic worst We can piss and moan all we want about Hendry picking him up, and it clearly wasn't a good move, but no one could've predicted he'd be this bad during a contract year.

    The Tigers are still hot. Plenty of room on the Justin Verlander for AL ROY bandwagon! That BandWGN crap has to stop. At least when I started it, it was the simple and classy "bandwagon". I think I'm going to narrow it down to around 5 teams and pick them from a hat. It'll have to be an AL team, though. I grew to hate all of the NL teams more when I was a Cubs fan. The White Sox are the new Cardinals. Just a suggestion.

    I still think Ozzie is a big-time ass, but I'm glad that SOMEONE outside of diehard Cubs fans is pointing out how bad our management is.

    Just once, I want to see a Cubs starting player that's not indispensable go on the DL rather than a star. Pierre, Mabry, even Cedeno would fall under that category.

    Sports Guy loves Hinrich (actually I think we are his 2nd favorite East team right now, he mentions at least two Bulls in 90 percent of his NBA columns), and I only think he's solid. I wonder if it's because I don't watch enough overall basketball, or if he doesn't watch enough Bulls backetball.

    That brings a tear to my eye. We haven't seen that since the sweep of the Cardinals when our hopes were yet to be dashed, and Derrek Lee sat gloriously atop first base. Actually I put that picture up for the Marlins game that we lost as well because there was a sweep possibility.

    Was that the game where he got shot too? With a cannon. twice Well he only took the second cannon shot to stop it from hitting the section full of nuns and make a wish kids. Swell guy. He did -- for a few minutes -- but then the swelling went away. Not that it bothered him... Just used it to get more weight on his swing and hit a home run all the way to his homeland of the Dominican.
