  1. I thought I heard Len say something about 2007 being Z's last year under Cubs control a few days ago...
  2. Not well enough for Jim I'm sure. Then again, he got Nevin, not exactly a GG 1B.
  3. It was the last sentence's philosophy that made Corey so bad with the Cubs.
  4. We need to tie this thing. Teams leading by two at half are 73-0-4 in World Cup history :(
  5. If the Sox go ahead and play with only one of them, whichever one is in there would hit 3 home runs to make up for the lack of the other one, because this is the Sox. :x
  6. I'd take all five of those guys on my staff any day, and twice on Sunday, and I would be very happy. IMO, Schmidt got screwed out of the CYA a couple of years ago. The year you're thinking of was 2003, and Mark Prior was the one screwed out of the Cy Young. 18-6, 211 IP, TWO FORTY THREE earned run average, 1.10 WHIP, .233 BAA Schmidt had a 1.08 WHIP and a .202 BAA, but his ERA at 3.20 was nearly a full point higher than Mark's. The only reason Mark didn't get the award was that he didn't get 20 wins, giving the voters an excuse to give it to a reliever. (Granted, Gagne had the save streak, but saves are such an arbitrary stat that Prior should've gotten the benefit of the doubt in that case) You're looking at the wrong year. In 2004, Schmidt had a 3.20 ERA In 2003, Schmidt had a 2.34 ERA. Schmidt had 17 wins in 2003. Oh. Right. Yahoo has your last 3 seasons...Prior hasn't pitched, Schmidt has. Mayhaps Schmidt did deserve it although my biased vote would've still gone to Prior.
  7. The only task for me is to wake up in time for the game...the movie theater business isn't very busy during the week, so I have the day off. GO USA!

  9. Dunno, but it definitely maximizes the level of pissed off I get when a CSN Cubs game is put on ESPN and blacked out in Muncie, Indiana, a place where there is no CSN Chicago.
  10. I like Novoa one day, often wonder why the next time he goes out.
  11. If I had 20 or so mph more on my throws, I could be a Major League pitcher! (I'm lefty)
  12. Whoever created the Marmol BandWGN - I'm aboard. This kid is money.
  13. Prior and Wood have both publicly expressed frustration with their constant need for rehab, and I have no doubts that your post is the complete opposite of the truth.
  14. I want the Cubs to win every game...but this year I can tolerate losses a little more because it's one step closer to the end of Dusty.
  15. I posted this yesterday, still believe it...
  16. Well, I'm inching closer anyway...
  17. Ah see, I expected him to moonlight as a clown at kids' birthday parties in addition to producing. I'm sorely disappointed!
  18. Was it Eyre or Howry that, when asked about his time on the South Side shortly after the Cubs signed him, said, "It sucked and that's all I'm going to say about that"?
  19. Murton's 2005 numbers in 140 AB: 321/386/521/908 7 HR Book or no book, numbers like that speak for themselves. I don't know what's wrong with Murt, but we as fans did not overrate him based on the above production.
  20. The Brock/Patterson comparison is not a wild one. Both were speedy guys who were simply awful as Cubs (in CPatt's case only in the latter days) and became great as soon as they left. But will CPatt become a HOFer? Probably not.
  21. There is no doubt that Z will flame out in the next 3-5 years if Dusty doesn't knock this crap off.
  22. I move Uber starts a thread to keep up the good mojo. I posted this yesterday, still believe it...
  23. Developing? He played with fire a lot last year too IIRC.
  24. While we're fixing things, I'm 2-3 :(
  25. Z, Len, Kent - I see your point. http://www.mitchamkorfball.co.uk/images/JP/WhiteGoodmanDodgeball.jpg Let me hit you with some knowledge! The Cubs will win this game, and they will win Sunday. Book it.
