  1. I'm guessing this means Barrett's appeal is done and he will start serving today...
  2. I will not watch anymore if Z is hurt. He's the only reason I ever pay attention.
  3. GM: Theo Manager: Fredi Gonzalez with a specially selected member of NSBB as a consultant (who could also work with Theo, not that he'd need it much) Pitching Coach: Maddux (or Leo if Maddux still didn't want to do it)
  4. If nothing else, we'll be a lot more willing to discuss Sox hate now than before, since the Cubs are giving us nothing but the same old crap to talk about.
  5. I can only hope that I get to hear Ron's call in a World Series-winning game.
  6. Well if they were all NSBB'ers, then we'd be A-ok. I don't know if I'd want Charlie Chahill the #1 shareholder. If it was NSBB-ers, yes. But a lot of Cubs fans, much like a lot of baseball fans in general, don't understand the value of OBP, VORP, etc. like the posters here.
  7. I agree with everything you said UMFan, but it's worth pointing out that Ronny's production has been better than Murton's when you factor in position. Not that Dusty pays attention to that I'm sure.
  8. I've always found it odd how Frank Thomas is the only person that testified at the Congressional hearing who's basically completely escaped any speculation. Even Schill has been needled by some as a juicer (pun intended) but Thomas always slides under the "he was always big" defense. I'll never forget what a joke I thought it was that he wasn't actually going under the excuse of a foot injury that would be aggravated by flying. Ridiculous.
  9. Meaning will Dusty run him into the ground, or meaning will Dusty/Jim decide to send him down to make room for more Rusch?
  10. I'm game. So when Steve Kline suggest that Mark Prior get hit by one, it's wrong, and it's okay for two of us to say it. I'm becoming less and less proud to be a Cub fan with comments lke this. There's a 4-page thread on Ozzie Guillen, a manager with a World Series ring and a competitive team this year, and it's all negative. So many "real" Cub fans talk about how obsessed with the Cubs Sox fans are, and how they're fickle, and don't exist. Judging by this section of the board and half the people that are/were Cub "fans," many of us aren't too far from that either. I feel like making some of you feel like that Sox pitcher last night. Grow up. I find it real tough to criticize a manager who just brought a World Series to a town where our manager does nothing but underachieve and make excuses. Yes, it was wrong, but how many of you wouldn't trade Guillen for Baker? For the record, while the comments by Kline annoyed me at first, I now think they are pretty hilarious. Especially considering the fact that he also told La Russa that he was No. 1 in his own special way the following season. :)
  11. I was gonna Avatar it, but I couldn't shrink it and still make it look cool.
  12. Me to my Sox fan friend who can't understand why I like Murton so much: "When Murton goes to Detroit or Oakland in a couple of years under a competent coaching staff, he will become a star. I guarantee it."
  13. I watched and did not hear anything. Sorry.
  14. Used to be someone's sig. Should be revived.
  15. Link in case anyone was curious.
  16. I'm not sure the Royals could top that. The Royals would look at that lineup and go, "WWWWhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaatttt? Man, even we ain't that bad." "and even if we are, at least we're spending an eighth as much to be this bad."
  17. He's been saying that for a while now. A couple of weeks ago I heard him say the same thing. The Cubs will probably run him out of town too. They wouldn't. It would be one of the worst PR moves in the history of human exsistance. And Cubs fans would not let them get away with it. Santo is loved by almost each and every Cubs fan. If they want to keep fans, they keep Santo. I just hope along with Santo, something happens to force a change. Whether it be end up in last place this year, Cubs sold. WHATEVER. I don't know how you take one of the most powerful teams in 2003, and instead of building on that. You end up with this heap pile of $#17!! Poor Ron. The sad thing is he probably doesn't have much time left and this team is not going to be any good anytime soon... :(
  18. At this rate the Marlins and DRays will have to be contracted.
  19. No, Buerhle didn't say that because he hates the rangers. It is just because he extremely stupid. And is a gigantic prick. FYI: Sox rank 10th in attendance this year and - get this - rank TWENTY NINTH in road attendance, just 50 people a game ahead of Anaheim. Just over 55% of the stadiums are filled when the defending champs come to town. Now THAT'S devotion.
  20. I'm gonna watch just for the sheer hilarity of seeing this guy that has an almost 9.00 ERA as a starter continue to get chance after chance to embarrass himself while we have a guy with a bright future ON THE DAMN 25 MAN ROSTER who could easily start in his place. Hahahahahahahaha. (The Cubs have driven me insane. It's official.)
  21. Sa-MAR-zhuh I thought it was Sa-MAR-ja No, there is definitely a hard "zh" in there. Just picture no I in between the Z and J and you will pretty much have it.
  22. I dunno, Boston traded for Wakefield's personal catcher based on basically one game with Bard.
  23. Considering the interest in him this offseason, I doubt he'd get much of a chance to contribute if traded. (Which speaks to the complete stupidity of all baseball front office personnel.)
  24. I do, if it's Torii we're renting.
