He's already yapped about that this year on the basis that he's playing Murton a little bit in left and he's playing Ronny at short, not to mention the pitching staff (never mind that we don't have ANY reasonable alternatives at those positions)

Rocker was a white guy going off on other races, Guillen is a nonwhite guy spewing nonsensical crap in every direction (although he seemed to make the implication that Venezuelans were somehow inferior in his Magglio rant). I'm not saying it's racism, but if a white guy does what Ozzie does, he's a bigot. If Ozzie does it, it's "colorful". -
ummm Ozzie, Jay is on a fairly popular (I think) national sports show. And was on it before Ozzie ever became manager of the Sox.

Pratt, Hawkins, Patterson, Hill, Choi...shall I continue? Hawkins you could make an argument, but Hill and Pratt aren't good enough to have a ruined career, Patterson's career is taking a turn for the MUCH better in Baltimore, and if Dusty helped ruin Choi, so did LA and Florida who refused to play him also.

B/c he's very negative about the White Sox. Their fans hate his guts. On whitesoxinteractive.com, any thread about his news is marked as spam and labeled, "latest nonsense from media troll Moronotti." I was under the impression that Sox fans hated Mariotti a tad less than Cubs fans seem to, but that was clearly mistaken. Everyone hates Mariotti. How else can you explain Kellerman leaving for FSN? Kellerman being a terrible sports pundit, for one.

Maybe I'd have voted for the WBC if World Cup goalies could only play for a third of the games before they had to bring in a backup.

Mariotti might not be a very good writer, but he does know that the Cubs need to fire Dusty. And the more of those people in the national media, the better.

Dusty, Larry and Co. have now officially ruined one player's career, Prior's already on the way, Murton's starting down the path, and Felix Pie, Carlos Marmol and Sean Marshall are on deck.

The Gaints gap is a biggie. Especially when they have to look across the bay and see the A's victories. Or down the coast to the Dodgers. My dad (a Dodgers fan) loves that the Dodgers have won multiple WS titles while in LA but the Giants haven't won won since they moved to SF (considering they did move within a couple years within each other). Actually they both moved in the same offseason (first season = 1958) -
They have done that for years, I know for a fact that all of MJ's titles were won under that system. Why it is that way, I do not know.

I deal with plenty of Sox fans, but if I have a chance to ship Pierre to the South Side, I do it, and if he turns out to return to his form immediately (which, the way the Sox go lately, he definitely would), then who cares.

Wood got suspended for "inciting the fans to throw trash on the field" when he got in an umpires face. LaTiolet got suspended for going after an umpire and needing 5 coaches to restrain him. Alou was never suspended. And if I was Barrett, after Ken Williams' comments, I'd have appealed, and then dropped it when the Tigers series started. Well he never did play against any other ALC team, so it turned out that way anyway

There is one exception to this that I can think of and that's when teams used to do the Hack-A-Shaq and would just grab Shaq up until there were two minutes left in the half (when the foul became a shoot the free throws and get the ball back situation) to send him to the line. Shaq often had games where he would shoot 20+ FT's and occasionally had a game with 30+ FTA. He even had a game where he shot an unbelievable 39 FT's against Indiana in Game 2 of the 2000 NBA Finals. I'm not old enough to remember if they did this to Wilt as well but I believe they did IIRC. I believe that Wade broke Bob Petit's record for free throw attempts in an NBA Finals game.....so the numbers go back for a while Basketball-Reference It's the game on 2000-06-09. Wow....that I did not know......thanks.....quite the stat......for some reason I thought the announcers referred to Petit....I must have not been paying attention...thanks for the # I'm a Lakers fan. I remember the Hack-A-Shaq like it was yesterday and figured Shaq had a game of 25 FT's in the finals. I didn't know he had 39 though. That amazed me as well. Do you also remember Game 7 in 2002 against the Kings?? ;) One of these days, I am going to re-watch that game and just count the injustices that occurred. I believe that Game 6 was the one that was truly a joke in many people's eyes.
