  1. WOW. Strike one was called at the letters.
  2. Walker pops out. Two down. Can we do it?????
  3. Okay, bases loaded 0 out. Don't screw it up Neifi. Brewers announcers "one guy you don't want to see up right here...Neifi Perez" If they only knew how right they were. Neifi grounds into a force out at home. Let's see if the cubs can get three outs without scoring a run.
  4. He doesn't. Usually, he tries to bunt the first 2 pitches, but fails. He ends up down 0-2 and swings at the next pitch which he usually pops up. It looks awful, but Dusty loves it. I understand he has had a truly dismal season when looking at the important statistics, but even to have a batting average above .270 with this approach at the plate is a complete miracle. Even his grand slam swing in St. Louis looked like he closed his eyes and prayed. I firmly believe that he's predetermining whether or not he's going to swing at the ball before it's even thrown. I remember a game within the past week where it was a ball that would have hit his back foot... but he swung at it. I remember the one you're talking about. If this approach "works" (even to the tune of an empty .270) why don't we all showup in spring training demanding a tryout? I'm pretty sure I could pull a few out with this approach.

  6. And Brewers fans chanting "overrated" at Derrek.
  7. Not to take anything away from Neifi's double, but my lord was that a HORRIBLE swing. He takes his eye off the ball and throws his bat at it. Isee this from him ALL the time. How does he keep getting hits like this?
  8. Milwaukee totally had a cub inning right there.
  9. And he thinks right along with a thinking pitcher. The Brewers announcers are in love with Matt Murton.
  10. Oh, well... I really don't care much about the outcome. Watching Murton learn keeps me tuned in.
  11. I really don't see how this guy could ever put up an OBP of .320. He has shown arguably the best eye on the entire team, he goes the other way, he doesn't look lost against even high quality breaking balls, and he seems to have an intense desire to keep improving. Projected over 588 ABs, Murton would have 30 homeruns this year. I can't see his slugging being that low either. When he first came up, I said I thought this kid will be a star. I still believe it.
  12. Even though he struck out, I love watching Murton take bad pitches that just about everyone else on our team swings at.
  13. I still fail to see why this is implausable. We'll have LOTS of money to spend, Hendry and Baker will have a great deal of pressure to improve and Manny WILL be shopped. The question is, do we give up a big prospect (Pie) to entice Boston to eat some of the contract? I almost guarantee that this deal will at least be discussed this winter.
  14. But it wasn't his fault, the books were old, the air conditioning was on the fritz, the curve shifted, his favorite teacher went on maternity leave, they switched his schedule, the test was immediately after gym, he's young. Well, unfortunately Son, I happen to know that your school has the highest budget in the state, they've brought in a lot of talented teachers and they're teaching you stuff you should already know......I for one am HIGHLY dissapointed.
  15. LoL "takemeouttothe baaaaallllllllgammmmmmmeeeeeeee"
  16. 1 run in six innings against Aaron Harang and a horrible defense. Can you blame Dusty for not hitting? No. Can you blame him for completely ruining the lineup? Yes. Already twice Murton would have hit with runners on instead of Jose Macias. "Hey, dude, we're trying to win games, here"
  17. I think you're reading Dusty's mind. Dusty setting the kid up to fail=sad Isn't it? Not to mention how obvious it is to everyone. Grounds for getting fired, if you ask me.
  18. Matt Murton's projected homeruns over 600 AB's= 32
  19. I think you're reading Dusty's mind.
  20. Good thing we had Macias hitting with Nomar on, though.
  21. Yeah, that was pretty blatant :-) "You know, in the minors, Murton was playing against righties, lefties, whoever. It didn't matter who was on the mound. It's not like he was in a platoon situation." Gotta love it.
  22. I am holding on to a thread, however, it IS bleak. If we win the same amount as Houston, and head to head we win 6 of 7, we still lose. On the other hand, if we win every remaining game :-), we can't lose the WC to Houston.
  23. Wow. Perhaps I just happen to catch all of Albert's bad days, but I've seen him look pretty bad this year on multiple occasions. I'm not saying he hasn't made some excellent ones as well, but I've watched every one of Lee's chances this year, and I haven't seen him look bad once. He has also saved COUNTLESS bad throws from Aramis. I just don't see how this is close. Pujols is better offensively, but that should not factor in at all.
  24. We have to handle the Reds for once. We just need to PITCH. I think the offense is ready to explode this series. We have to avoid a slug fest. I have a really good feeling that after today Dusty is going to give up trying to bury Murton., so we might see Hairston Walker Lee Nomar Burnitz Murton Barrett Perez tomorrow, which would open a big door, IMO. I would love to see Aramis back and Matt hitting second, but for now.....
