  1. I think you're reading Dusty's mind.
  2. Good thing we had Macias hitting with Nomar on, though.
  3. Yeah, that was pretty blatant :-) "You know, in the minors, Murton was playing against righties, lefties, whoever. It didn't matter who was on the mound. It's not like he was in a platoon situation." Gotta love it.
  4. I am holding on to a thread, however, it IS bleak. If we win the same amount as Houston, and head to head we win 6 of 7, we still lose. On the other hand, if we win every remaining game :-), we can't lose the WC to Houston.
  5. Wow. Perhaps I just happen to catch all of Albert's bad days, but I've seen him look pretty bad this year on multiple occasions. I'm not saying he hasn't made some excellent ones as well, but I've watched every one of Lee's chances this year, and I haven't seen him look bad once. He has also saved COUNTLESS bad throws from Aramis. I just don't see how this is close. Pujols is better offensively, but that should not factor in at all.
  6. We have to handle the Reds for once. We just need to PITCH. I think the offense is ready to explode this series. We have to avoid a slug fest. I have a really good feeling that after today Dusty is going to give up trying to bury Murton., so we might see Hairston Walker Lee Nomar Burnitz Murton Barrett Perez tomorrow, which would open a big door, IMO. I would love to see Aramis back and Matt hitting second, but for now.....

  8. I agree that he has come up with some timely hits. Unfortunately, with a better hitter at the top, DLee's RBIs increase, putting us in fewer critical late game situations. What the hell does that mean? Sorry, that wasn't very clear. A better OPS in the #2 hole = more runs = 4-2 lead instead of 2-2 tie = we don't need a big hit by Neifi late in the game to win. OBP. I did mean OPS. Some extra base hits instead of slap singles wouldn't hurt. True, but you gotta make sure the OBP is strong and the OPS is not just reliant on a high SLG if this batter is batting 2nd. :-) I absolutely agree. I was just trying to make a point about Neifi's lack of production, which is noticable by looking at ANY stat.
  9. I agree that he has come up with some timely hits. Unfortunately, with a better hitter at the top, DLee's RBIs increase, putting us in fewer critical late game situations. What the hell does that mean? someone who gets on base hitting at the top of the order means we score more runs so we aren't tied 2-2 in the 8th So hits in the late innings like Perez just got don't mean anything? One has nothing to do with the other. It sounds like people will say anything rather than give Perez credit for anything. I'm confused. Of course those hits mean something, but for an extreme example, let's say Neifi goes 1-4, grounding into 2 double plays in the 3rd and 7th, and then gets a big RBI single in the ninth to tie the game. Is he helping or hurting the team? I think he's hurting it.

  13. Well, now Baker will be able to talk about how Neifi saved us again instead of how Murton looked fantastic against right handed pitching.
  14. Murton crushes a 1-0 from LaTroy to deep center, but it is caught. The giants announcers have been fawning over Murton all game long.
  15. Unfortunately a wild pitch scored Alou it's now 2-2.
  16. Okay Murton is now over .340 and showing power. It's time for him to play everyday.
  17. I turned around to my girlfriend and said..."no worries, Lee is going deep on the 1st pitch. :-)
  18. Well, since this is a game thread.... Neifi's error followed by a Winn double gives SF a 1-0 lead.
  19. Whether we think Pie is ready or not, it is pretty clear by now that Hendry and Fleita think he IS. They have both stated he would have been up this summer if not for the injury. He will get a REAL opportunity in spring training, IMO.
  20. Murton's 3rd time on base tonight...... from the 8 hole.
  21. Boy, the more he hits like this, the more I want to give him another year.
  22. But, dude, Neifi saved us! I'm still not sure exactly what he saved us from.....but...
