  1. Dusty's post game quote prediction: "Wow. Just wow. I've seen a lot of different ways to lose ballgames but....wow. It just seems that nothing goes our way. This one hurts a lot. We'll get ready and get back out there."
  2. The thing is it doesn't matter if Gene Clines gets fired, or Dick Pole or whoever. Dusty will just recommend another guy with the same "old school" philosophy. Someone dumb or subservient enough to not point out Dustys shortcomings
  3. Even being the pessimist I am, I don't believe Dusty will be back. The media has now officially become a "distraction" in the clubhouse and the papers are all calling for Dusty's head. Hendry could easily quelch this by giving Dusty an extension now, but he hasn't. All we hear is "We're going to wait and see". Dusty will not be back unless we make the playoffs. So......
  4. We outhit the Twins today! It's kinda like a victory! Yea!
  5. Wow. I'm pretty sure that lineup is a Neifi/Aramis swap away from being the worst ever put out by a top 5 payroll team.
  6. That was a good wave with Pierre coming up and Hollandsworth throwing.
  7. Is Novoa the Adam Dunn of pitchers? Walk, Strikeout or Homerun.
  8. See 95 million dollars does achieve things. I would love to see where that would put us historically as far as losses compared to payroll.
  9. Why do I know the following conversation has taken place Dusty: Sit down, Big Murt. I understand that you've been taught to hit the ball the other way......and that's a good thing. There's a time for that. But to stay up here with the big boys you NEED to pull the ball and display some power. This team doesn't have a lot of power, so we need it from you. Now get out there and start swinging. Matt: But....er........okay.
  10. And here comes Novoa! People will look back at this series and think yesterday was a pitchers duel.
  11. Dudes, It was obvious that with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, this team showed it's true heart. There is no quit in these guys, dude. The worm turned, and we started finding holes. Prior will start tomorrow and I guarantee that we will lose by less than six runs! Soon Pagan will be back and we will have even MORE speed. With a lineup of Pierre Neifi Bynum Pagan Ramirez Mabry Blanco Cedeno We will have a combo of speed and power heretofore unseen in the big leagues.
  12. Remember when this argument used to be between the Red Sox and the Cubs. Funny how we're the constant.
  13. Matt Murton is 24 with a career OPS of .793. Freddie Bynum is 26 with a career OPS of .674. Matt Murton has walked 36 times and struck out 53. Freddie Bynum has walked 2 times and struck out 25. I'm not sure who deserves the shot at becoming a complete player here, but I have an idea. Perhaps Bynum turns out to be Sammy Sosa. Perhaps Murton turns out to be Kevin Orie. I have a feeling that we're going to end up trading away a future all-star so Freddie Bynum can attempt to save this team.
  14. You know what's REALLY funny about this order? You could completely invert it and have a better lineup. Cedeno Murton Jones Ramirez Nevin Barrett Perez Pierre Maddux
  15. Me too. What's funny, and I probably shouldn't even mention his name in a thread like this, is that Marmol was reminding me of another Cub prospect who was being compared to Pedro Martinez. Marmol looked like a confident and slightly less wiry Juan Cruz. Similar stuff but Cruz always seemed to have a scared look on his face while Marmol had the eye of the tiger. Didn't read the entire thread, huh?
  16. Don't forget Cabrerra. Well, he'll be patrolling LF in Wrigley soon enough. 8)
  17. Am I the only one who likes Aramis enough to believe that he is still the 2nd best offensive 3rd baseman in the NL (Wright)? Granted he started slowly again, but I think by August he will be right back in the .950 OPS range.
  18. Yes, Marmol has displayed much better control than Cruz did. He also has very good stuff. He doesn't really remind me of Juan, though. I still believe than Juan Cruz has the best pure stuff in all of baseball....there's just something that doesn't click upstairs. . I do believe that Marmol has a very good chance of being an above average starting pitcher for a long time.
  19. Good god he has 26 stolen bases and an OPS over .800. Why, god, why?!?!? Okay here's my theory.... Dusty Baker is not very bright. Dusty Baker doesn't want to surround himself with intelligent coaches who will undermine him. Dusty Baker hires old school coaches who will defer to him. Young players are screwed. In '04 we heard how the responsibility ulimately lay with the players. We heard that again in '05. We're hearing it again this year. Funny how there has been a huge turnover in players since '04, and the offense is always underperforming. There is only one constant, and it is MANGEMENT. I sure hope Bruce or someone brings Corey's performance to their attention.
  20. Really. This is one of the worst lineups I have seen from Dusty during his tenure here. Shouldn't he be familiar with minute maid by now? This one just confirms that the man doesn't think about what he is doing. In order to have a chance with this team, we need to be given the best chance to win. It's not happening.
  21. I admire your reasoning. We share the same thought. Are you familiar with Dusty Baker? Vs. RH Pierre Neifi Walker Nevin Jones ARam Barrett Murton Vs. LH Pierre Cedeno Nevin Aram Walker Barrett Murton Jones
  22. Until yesterday, I had been rooting against the cubs for the short-term. After yesterday's win, I made the decision to begin rooting for a winning streak. This run through the NL Central will undoubtedly be the deciding point of the season. A bad run will solidify our fate and a big winning streak will put us back in it. A .500 or .550 run is the worst possible scenario, for obvious reasons. So....for now.....Go CUBS!
  23. Guys, come on. This was practically a victory. I mean, our guys tried hard....that's what they're getting paid to do, dude. The breaks didn't go our way. We score 1, they score 2. We score 11, they score 12. It's not our fault, dude. Neifi saved us, though.
