  1. Look at Murton. It's obvious that he's very aware of this philosophy. However, Clines and Baker have been harping on him to be more aggressive, and what has happened? If you want to play for Dusty Baker, you HIT THE BALL.
  2. 8 No, it was 9. Pierre on two, Hairston on four, Walker on three. I thought Hairston K'd on 3? Oh, well 9 or 8.......Good lord I can't believe I'm even debating this.
  3. If we don't win, JH can never extend DB!! Make no mistake, I don't want DB back, but I couldn't ever bring myself to actually root against the Cubs. I will be rooting for the Marlins tonight.
  4. 1/3 of the way there :-)
  5. This is the attitude I'm taking. I sincerely want this team to get better, and winning 2 of 3 means "Dude, we're starting to win ballgames" while winning 1 of 3 means "Dude, our guys are fighting real hard, balls just aren't dropping for us" Geting swept by the Marlins would be a total embarrassment, even for a team that has already redefined the word. Granted, its no guarantee that changes would be made, but this scenario certainly adds the most pressure. A sweep would be my second choice because I love the Chicago Cubs and I would like to watch them win baseball games. Its very disheartening to have it come to this.
  6. I think a package of Murton, Marshall and Marmol would really give the fish something to think about. When (if) healthy: Pierre Walker Lee Cabrera Ramirez Barrett Jones Cedeno
  7. I would realy like Livan to have a 50 pitch complete game. If we're not going to win, lets get embarrassed.
  8. Wood's value might be at an all time low. I understand cutting your losses, but if Wood can stay healthy for one or two months, he will likely up his value dramatically, at which point you can decide what direction to take. He's still young. Personally, I keep him around. I don't think Maddux nets Quentin, but who knows? I sell high with Marshall, who took advantage of some very weak lineups to get off to a good start. Perhaps he could go with Maddux. Since this isn't really a firesale (we're keeping plenty of elite, high-paid talent) I throw Ryu, Hill and Marshall at Florida for Cabrera and see if they bite. Unfortunately, I think what we need most is a change in the organizations philosophy.
  9. Obviously Baker and his staff are history. Keep Lee, Ramirez, Wood, Prior, Z, Miller, Cedeno, Murton, Howry, Eyre, Dempster, Theriot, Ohman and Barrett. Package Maddux, Marshall, Hill and Walker for RF/2nd base prospects. Dump Pierre, Jones, other bums. Call up Pie for CF and let him take his lumps. You know whats really sad? We have an immense amount of talent. It's really taken some bad management (and injuries) to make us this bad.
  10. Watch sportscenter tonight to see nearly the same play by Austin Kearns, except Kearns NAILS the throw. It was a thing of beauty.
  11. poor sean marshall. He's not going to get a win for either of his last two excellent outings.
  12. Man, Angel looks like Rick Ankiel for a minute, then Greg Maddux the next.
  13. Anyone else feel better with Murton/Barrett coming up than the top of the order?
  14. It's really incredible that only 6 teams in all of baseball have a better record that we do.
  15. Pat and Ron says it was a great pitch, but both agreed it was a bit outside. Lanny & The Rock both thought he caught a break! :-) If both the first and second curveballs were balls, then there is no such thing as the strike zone.
