It may turn out that the wind will be more of a factor than the rain, eh? I always thought it would, but right now it's not too bad either (9 mph from the north at Opa Locka right now). Earlier they were talking 15 mph with gusts to 20. That could put a real hitch in Peyton's getalong, no? I think it will hinder the bears passing offense more then the colts. The bears like to go for the long ball alot more then the Colts. The colts like to go over the middle to their TE alot and I dont think the wind will have as much effect on that as the long ball.
Agreed; beating Iowa on the road coming off the Wisconsin win would be huge. If that happens I'd expect them to make a huge jump in the rankings next week, likely into the top 15. They already have a big non-conference road win (UConn). At this point I am not sure that UConn should be considered a huge win anymore. They have been terrible the last month and most likely will not make it to the tournament.
One of my favorite all time baseball moments was when Matheny was with the brewers and took a fastball to the face while batting. Instead of falling to the ground he just stood there bleeding and just looked out at the pitcher. Ever since that moment I really liked him.
He must be their version of Jason Marquis then, because the last time Ryan Franklin started in Seattle his ERA+ was 85. 88 the year before that. I think he was relieving in PHI & CIN last year For some reason I thought he was better then that in SEA. Still even if he is able to put up an ERA+ of 85, that is likely to be just as good if not much better then Weaver will do for a fraction of the price. Which could leave them room to take on a bigger salary at the deadline if they need to make a trade.
From everything I have heard down here in St Louis on the radio, is that Tony and Duncan really like Franklin. I think that the 5th spot is his to lose spring training. If he pitches like he did as a starter in Seattle, he could be a nice find at the 4th or 5th pithcer spot.
I really dont think it is gonna be that hard to throw Kip wells and Ryan Franklin into the rotation and have them do better then what Marquis and Weaver/Ponson did last year. Meaning Wainwright would have to match Suppan and have an Era in the 4.30 area. Wainwright might not do that good but I wouldnt expect him to be that much worse. So i really dont think there will be a dropoff in the cards rotation. In fact I expect a little bit of improvement just getting rid of Marquis and his over 6.00 ERA.
Good, hopefully this gets the Cardinals to finally give in and give Suppan more money. Cause if they dont resign Suppan there rotation is gonna be awful. It wont be great with him but at least he will eat some innings.
Bryan Burwell also wrote an article in yesterdays paper talking about how Pujols uncle and mentor had died last week and was buried on tues. In it Pujols talks about how he wasnt having fun because he couldnt be with his family and at the funeral. This is part of the reason he was upset and rude to the media those few days.
Make the goals bigger, or make them smaller and take away the gaolie. (10 points to anybody that knows where that's from) It is from Sports Night when they are talking about soccer.
who says the cards are a lock for the playoffs? You think the REDS are going to pass them up to win the division? Possibly, though admittedly it doesn't look good at the moment. :( No I dont think the Reds will catch the Cards. But if the Phillies win the WC the Mets cant play them, and if the Dodgers have the better record the Cards have to play the Mets first.
I tied it up for the Eagles, the only reason I even considered the Police was because Copeland. He was awesome with them and wiht Oysterhead. But I couldnt get over my hate of sting.
Barthez is gonna have to come up huge in PK's if it gets there for France to win. No Zidane, Henry, or Ribery for them. Plus they have to go against Buffon.
This has been a great game, France is really outplaying Italy right now. But my god is Cannavarro unbelievable. He and Buffon have pretty much kept Italy in this game.
Walt Jocketty is looking for pitching based on a radio report I heard today from Ken Rosenthal. I wonder if St. Louis gets involved here. Looks like Walt was interested they said during the game that the Cards got him for Terry Evans.
I have to agree with KTown Suppan has been a fairly steady number 4 or 5 pitcher in his career. He is durable, will pitch a good amount of innings a year and keep his era in the mid 4's not bad for an end of the rotation guy.
