  1. Man how bad is VT that Illinois still has a 7 point lead despite about 10 turnovers and 10 fouls in the last 7 or 8 minutes.
  2. I picked ODU to win, Butler hasnt been playing all that well down the stretch and I think that ODU will have a good shot at the upset.
  3. It looks like Izzy was back to midseason form in his first ST apperance, he loaded the bases with no outs then got the next 3 guys in order. With Wainwright in the rotation the cards really need Izzy to be back healthy this year.
  4. I dont know if it is a good thing but I have the exact same final 4 as Doug Gottlieb. We both had Fla, UCLA, UNC and aTm. He also had UNLV in the Elite 8 while I have them in the Sweet 16. I hope we are both right.
  5. Something tells me that if Arod was saying this sort of thing guys like Buster Olney or Peter Gammons or guys who are with the Yanks a little bit more then Olbermann would be reporting it.
  6. Georgia Tech will beat Wisconsin on Sunday. UCLA 74 Georgetown 67 This is the most excited I've been for the tourney in years - even more than the last time ND was in it. I have Wisconsin losing to UNLV in my pool. They have not been very impressive since Butch went down, and I think UNLV is a little underrated.
  7. Dosent Louisville also play in Lexington? Thats not to far from Louisville.
  8. I agree that Fla shouldnt have been the overall 1, but where do you think kansas should be? They didnt deserve the Midwest bracket over Ohio State, so I would think that after the Midwest the West would be the best for Kansas.
  9. I dont think it is impossible for the Illini to win. If the Hokie team that showed up in their 2 games with UNC the Illini will have no chance. However outside of those 2 wins VT hasnt been all that impressive in alot of their games.
  10. I get Carolina, Georgetown, and Texas, but who is the 4th? No way is Washinton State one of the top 10 teams. I had them #7 when we were ranking the tourney teams. Really I wouldnt put them ahead of Carolina, UCLA, Florida, Kansas, Georgetown, Texas or aTm, Oregon, Ohio State, Wisconsin, or Memphis.

  12. The first round game I am really looking forward to is Nevada vs Creighton. I think that will be a great game Fazekas vs Funk and Tolliver will be a great matchup
  13. I agree with what Gottlieb just said about Syracuse, if you are gonna play that weak OCC you cant lose to ST Johns and UConn and expect to get in
  14. I am not sure how so many people can think Syracuse is the biggest omission, they didnt play anyone in their OCC and the one good team they did play was Drexel and Syracuse lost. Drexel should be in and Arkansas should be out in my opinion.
  15. I think that Notre Dame kind of got screwed, they should have that 4 seed that went to Virginia. Instead they have to face a very good Winthrop team in the first round.
  16. I dont know if Purdue got a 9 seed it may not be that bad for U of I as they are very similar teams and resumes.
  17. WTF is up with the regions? Florida in the Midwest? KU in the West? OSU in the South? Yeah they should have switched OSU and Florida and had Florida in the south and OSU in the midwest
  18. There is no way that they get less then 4. OSU, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan State are all in already. I think that Purdue is in now to, and Illinois has a good shot as well.
  19. Duke down 4 with 3:00 minutes left in the game. I hope NC State can hold on to this one.
  20. Well crap, he was our best set up option. 31 1/3 ip, 2.16 era, 28k, 12 bb in regular and post season appearances. This could hurt as he was really good last year. But hopefully if Izzy is back healthy and with the signing of Springer they will still have a good bullpen.
  21. I'll take Otto the Orange over your stupid drunken leprechaun any day of the week! No way that drunken leprechaun is awesome. Speaking of mascots though is there anyway they can test Sparty for performance enhancing drugs, cause he is on something to get that big.
  22. And why'd he get into early foul trouble? A few questionable calls by the refs. I am a Tar Heel fan so I understand what you are saying and May did have a huge game, but part of that is because Augustine was out alot of the first half due to a few weak touch fouls. Augustine was on the bench with 2 fouls five minutes into just about every game they played He was his first coulple of years but he really seemed to improve on that his last 2 years at U of I.

  24. 22% were 3's, and he took many, many 15-18 foot jumpers in that tournament. He was a wing player-he did not play inside very much at all. He must have been a hell of a player to finish 3rd in the conference in rebounds per game (10.0) and average 3 offensive rebounds per game while "not playing inside very much at all". And 22% of your shots for three is not a lot. 67% of Gerry McNamara's shots were from beyond the arc. THAT is a lot. Gerry Mac was the reason they won that title game. He hit 6 threes in the first half. Without him, KU wins. And it's sill to say FLA didn't have good guards last year. Green and Humphrey (especially green) are excellent players. Corey Brewer, too. Bottom line is, you have to have some balance to win it, but I think guards are sightly more important. Even when you do have a dominant big, you need an effective gaurd to get him the ball and to keep the opposing D honest (ie. not collapsing on the big man.) I agree you need a good balance between the two. Someone brought up Illinois when they relied on the 3 guards. But the guards werent what cost them the championship game. It was Augustine getting into early fout trouble leaving them with no inside scoring presence in the game.
  25. how are the fatties though? I think that depends on the development of Barron. They still have Pace, and young guys like Incogneto and Setterstrom stepped in and did good last year. Barron still takes a ton of Falst start penalties, if he can work on that I think they will have a decent O-Line. Not one of the best in the league but adequate. I disagree. I think it could be one of the best in the league. After the injuries when they settled in, they were very, very good. Oh I think that they have a chance to be very very good if Barron, Setterstrom and Incogneto all keep improving. I just think that they are young and will still have a few hiccups next year. The next few years after though I think they will be a great O-Line.
