  1. Yes it is. Oh I agree with you guys here, I dont see why there would be any need for Ankiel to use HGH. All I am saying is if Ankiel had a prescription for it then which it looks like he did. Then it has yet to be proven how he has done anything illegal that broke either MLB or US laws. Now there is obviously a moral debate about if it was right or wrong no matter what the laws are. But that is all I have been trying to point out that so far nothing has come out that would warrant any sort of punishment. What your failing to grasp is that the "perscription" might as well have come from Dr. Doolittle. What is so hard for you to understand about what I am saying. I am saying that I dont agree with what he did but he didnt do anything illegal. If the doctor had a medical license and gave Ankiel a prescription then it wasnt illegal for Ankiel as far as I know. I will say it again he didnt deserve to have a prescription but he did therefore it wasnt illegal to use it no matter who the doctor is. http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/020306BronxDoc.html What are you talking about? Just because a doctor prescribes you something does not mean it's legal. I am no legal expert so I dont know for sure but I thought it was illegal for the doctor, but not for whoever was recieving the prescriptions.

  4. I thought that it was legal back then. I may be wrong but I remember a SI article come out around that time where WR David Boston talked about using them cause they were legal at the time.
  5. Would you expect any less from fans that turned a blind eye to LaRusa's drunken binge, the drug use of Hancock and Spiezo and who dubbed Rick Ankiel "The Natural." Yeah, he's about as Natural as Pamela Anderson's boobs. Its not cause I am a Cards fan that I am defending Ankiel, if it came out that a Cubs player got HGH legally prescribed to him in 2004 when it was legal, and there was no proof that he has used it since I would defend him too. If it comes out that Ankiel is still using them, then I have no problem with him being suspended. But as for now he got something from a doctor, no doubt a shady doctor, but he got something that was legal at the time to help with his rehab. I dont really see how anyone can get that mad at him. I know this is gonna come off as a Cards homer, but this was a former phenom coming off injury trying to save his career. He saw that this drug HGH could help him do that and it wasnt illegal at the time, there is a good chance that alot of guys would have done the same thing to save their careers to I respect your passion for defending all things Cardinal but isn't the "I thought it was OK because all the other kids are doing it" excuse supposed to end around junior high? I thought the " I thought it was ok cause everyone else was" excuse only worked if you were doing something wrong. Ankiel got a prescription from a doctor to do a drug that was legal at the time. So I dont need to use that excuse cause there is no proof that Ankiel has done anything wrong or illegal.

  7. you're right...mlb should step in and disqualify the cardinals from the 2007 season because he got hgh shipments in 2005 and some guy on a message board says ankiel allegedly used coke like eight years ago (and because they don't "deserve" it). let's just see if mlb can mandate a division title for the cubs while we're at it. the whining in this thread would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic. Whatever. More of your ultra-sarcastic B.S. I couldn't care less. There are plenty of other things that could be done. How about a suspension, or at least an actual investigation of Ankiel? But hey, don't let that stop you from acting like a dick. come on, a suspension? you're asking for a guy to be suspended now because there's a rumor that he received hgh, which wasn't illegal, three years ago? give a me break. that's ridiculous. if this was a cub player and cardinal message boards were calling for his suspension, we'd all be quoting them here and having a great laugh. Fine, can we at least get someone to actually look into it at a minimum? I'm looking at the history of this guy. He's a former drug addict. Now there's reports he pumped HGH too. If it turns out a year from now that this guy was cheating, every last person in the country is going to go, "HELLO?? EVER HEARD OF A RED FLAG? Why was nothing even looked at??" Show me the Cub who has this kind of sordid history and the suspicion and I will gladly ask for the same. How do you even know he is a drug addict? He has never been caught with or failed a drug test. So because someone on here says their friends says so you say he is? Thats not to say that this person is lying, but since noone here has ever seen him stick anything up his nose I think its a little unfair to say that he is a drug addict.
  8. Yeah while I am not happy to hear this, it was three years ago when he was in the minors as a pitcher, and there is no proof that he has done it the last few years. Still, why would they just release this information now? My guess is cause nobody cared about this sort of thing in 2004, so there wasnt as much scrutiny to look into it back then.
  9. Yeah while I am not happy to hear this, it was three years ago when he was in the minors as a pitcher, and there is no proof that he has done it the last few years.
  10. According to the New York Times Ankiel reportedly recieved HGH in 2004. They just mentioned it on baseball tonight.
  11. i think its half joking, but both definitely are large bodied hitters, and if its okay to accuse Sosa with no evidence why not return the favor I think there is a pretty big difference in these 2 then Sosa. These guys are both the same size now as when they came in the league, and there has been no large jump in power numbers. Sosa got much larger as his career went on then came back much smaller after a year off. He also had a huge power spike. That is not to say that Sosa did steroids, cause there has never really been anyone come out and say that he did. But all those things raise more eyebrows then anything Pujols or Fielder.
  12. I thought the rule was you had to be able to be able to touch the bag but i may be wrong. The thing is there was no slide, Pujols stayed up and made Phillips adjust the throw but Albert was still in the baseline so its not his job to just get out of the way of the throw just cause most runners do.
  13. Brandon Phillips is an idiot, it wasnt interference because Pujols was still within reach of the bag. It is not Pujols job to get out of the way to make his throw easier. So he needs to shut up and stop saying he is going to throw a ball at someones head.
  14. I love how people on this board just blindly accuse Pujols and Fielder of doing performance enhancing drugs just cause they are good and play on teams within the division.
  15. If any of you didnt see it one took a foul ball to the face last night while in the on deck circle. He has fractured bones around the eye and is out for the rest of the season, and his career could be in danger if there is any long term damage.
  16. Michigan is down 21-14 to Appalachine State in the first half. I know its the first game and Michigan will comeback and win this game. But I think that they are very overrated.
  17. Dempsey scored again in the first half today. Giving him back to back games with a goal.
  18. I actually didnt mean Bama, I meant South Carolina. But yes UK has a very good quarterback and will be pretty good this year. Better then the middle of the pack Big Ten teams like Purdue and Indiana, and better then the middle Pac 10 ten teams.
  19. Yeah I agree, the top teams in the Big Ten, Big XII, and Pac 10 may be able to match the top of the SEC. But the depth of the SEC is much deeper then any other conference in the nation. No conferences middle of the pack teams can compare with UK, Bama, or Georiga.
  20. I am down for this, mine will be something Blues related.
  21. Miss St. defense is playing a hell of a first half, the only problem is their offense cant do anything but turn the ball over.
  22. I agree with this 100%. Cards Talk is home to the cream of the Cardinal fan crop. I would be shocked if Hoffpauir is the one called up, first he is not on the 40-man so someone would have to be moved off. Second he is on the rosters for the AFL, so I doubt he will be one of the callups. Now the injury to Rolen may change that but I doubt it.
  23. I thought it was impressive that Idaho was getting 47 at USC until I saw that line I wouldnt run up the score on Northern Colorado though. Their backup punter may run out on the field and stab you.
  24. He is not out for the season yet, they are just considering it. They are gonna have some test done first.
  25. Does anyone know if Adu has got any playing time now that Benefica has started their season. I know that he got into the Champions league game, but what about their season games, and if he did how has he looked?
