  1. I know alot of you guys know alot about the minors, so I just wanted to know what some of you think of Rasmus. He is tearing it up in AA and has homered in four straight games and 7 of 10. He now has 28 on the season and has a line of .280/384/555 for a .939 OPS. He also has 18 steals in 21 attempts. I have heard comparisons to Grady Sizemore, so I was just wondering what some of you guys think about him. Who are similar pros and how good do you think he is going to be?
  2. I was looking at their roster and the Cards sent alot of interesting guys too. Rasmus is tearing up AA, Hoffpauir and Mather are both hitting well at AAA, and Perez has been a shut down closer at AA and AAA this year, and Motte has been a shut down closer as well.
  3. DWard's 2 homers this weekend pushed his season HR/AB total to right around his career norms (he averages 1 every 30-40 AB, and he has 80 AB on the button this year). KyHen, you posted a bunch of examples of terrible players who continued to be terrible on the Cards, which isn't really what we meant. Bad players playing bad is expected. As for Reyes, you might have to give it time. It took Rich Hill nearly 2 full seasons to figure out how to go from AAAA pitcher to decent big leaguer. Hill, if you'll recall, tore up AAA as well. Yes but something tells me that if in 2 years Reyes is pitching like Hill is this year there will be threads just like this saying how the Cards are lucky casue Reyes sucked the past few years but now is pitching well. I think that all Cards fans know that we have brought some players in that have outperformed their career norms. What most of us are trying to say is that every year there is players that do that on every team in the league.
  4. Anderson has 10 rbi's tonight against the yanks.
  5. Here is a yahoo sports article on Altidore, Not very imformative but thought that some would like to read it. http://sports.yahoo.com/mls/news;_ylt=AjSOedlJWtOktWIG1rpWI4Umw7YF?slug=ro-altidore082007&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
  6. I know that some of you on here dont like Buck but this is kind of a ridiculous claim here. Listen to Len his voice gets high when ever a Cubs player does something well too. Len isn't a national announcer and he calls all 162 games. It's different when you're a known broadcaster on the national scale and when you're only announcing 10-15 games a year for the Cardinals. Yeah but he is not announcing it on national game. He is only announcing on the Cardinals broadcast. Something tell me you would get on Vasgarsian or Brenneman if they got excited while doing their local broadcast games even though they do national games too. Buck is a gigantic homer, sorry if that notion offends you. and as much as i don't like the guy, he's allowed to be on a cards broadcast. complaining about him being biased in a local broadcast (so long as it's short of hawk harrellson's level) is ridiculous. My gripe is that he announces the same way on national broadcasts. When he's teamed with McCarver it's borderline absurd. i sure don't hear it. at least not any more than any other announcer. my gripe with him is that he's the most dry, boring announcer of all time. when he's teamed up with mccarver, he somehow becomes worse. I dont really like Buck all that much, but being a homer on a home broadcast is something that happens on every local broadcast. I also dont think that Buck is that much of a homer on national Cards games. In fact I think that sometimes he goes out of his way to not be. I think that alot of Cubs fans dont like him cause he is a Cards guy, so when he does say something negative about the cubs, they take it as being a Cards homer. But I hear the same things that he says said by other national broadcaster and noone says anything bad about them.

  9. Yeah, what did happen to him? I haven't heard crap about him all year. He was in Memphis for most of the season this year and was not hitting very well. I believe he had some sort of leg injury that has him out the rest of the year. The leg injury is true, but the hitting badly isn't. I for some reason thought that he wasnt playing all that well. Either way I dont see him having much of a future with the franchise. With Schumaker and Ludwick doing well this year, I think those two have moved ahead of him in the organizations eyes. .375/.500/.875
  10. While he is only 33 he also had arm surgery and just hasnt been the same pitcher since the injury. Just watching him after the arm surgery with the Cards you could tell that he wasnt the same pitcher. I just fail to see how a guy who was a first round pick who came up and had good years his first six can be described as lucky. He clearly had talent if he got drafted 12th, and like I said his problems have alot to do with arm injuries.
  11. During the Cards broadcast they said it was going to be made up on Sept 10th.
  12. Eddie Lewis could be joining him in Derby from Leeds. Eddie Lewis did sign with Derby.

  14. I dont think that Matt Morris is very fair to add to that list. He sucks not cause he is old and has no arm left. But his first 6 years he had ERA+ of 130, 166, 130,137,114, and 111. So he was a pretty good pitcher his first 6 years in the league. yeah, all with the Cardinals. since he's left the cardinals, he's sucked Its not like he was some scrub they picked up off of waivers though he was a first round pick who was very productive his first 6 years in the league with the Cards, then had a couple average years for them. He had sucked since he left cause they knew he was on the downswing of his career and let him go. The other guys are good example I just dont think that Morris is a good one.

  16. There is a quite a bit of difference between the two situation. Fielder had already been thrown out and was in the umps face yelling at him. Pujols was not thrown out yet and wasnt even thrown out after, which makes me think even the ump didnt think Pujold did anything wrong. If Pujols does get suspened I wouldnt have a huge problem with it cause you should not put your hands on an ump, but the two cases are different. Sounds like the two cases are different, but I'm pretty sure I've seen that sort of "friendly touching" result in a suspension before, although I admit I can't pinpoint when it was. I think it depends on how the ump takes it. The ump didnt seem to take this one serious enough to throw him out, so I dont think that Pujols will be suspened. If he is I cant see it being more then one game but I would put my money on no suspension.
  17. Thanks for the updates. Two yellows and no red? Wow. I thought they cleared it up and the 2nd red was actually on Terry.

  19. I just wanted to say Go Liverpool. I have just started to get into the EPL thanks to a British friend of mine and he has turned me into a Liverpool fan.
  20. Post of the day. Gotta win three of four. Totally agree. How can they be surging with that staff? They have been surging due to Reyes, Wells, and now Piniero all pitching well. Since the AS break Reyes has an ERA+ of 151, Wells has an ERA+ of 125, and Piniero has an ERA+ of 160 in his 3 start. Which is ridiculous. But, par for the course for that franchise. TLR and Satan agreed on a mid-season contract extension. I dont see how it is any different then what Jacque is doing right now. None of them are as bad as they were early in the season, and none of them are as good as they are playing now.

  22. I dont know man Pujols isnt even close to the hottest Cards hitter. Edmonds, Rolen, and Molina are all hitting very well the past week and a half.
  23. The Cards are playing well relative to the Cubs and Brewers, but not really well overall. This series could be an ugly battle of attrition before it's over. They have won 8 out of 10 all against teams above .500. Now the brewers and the dodgers are both struggling, but you have to give the Cards credit for going out there and contributing to those struggles.
  24. Oh I also forgot to say that it is awesome to see some meaningful games for both teams this late in the season. It should really add to the atmosphere of the games.
  25. I know that the Cards are playing well right now, and that the cubs have been losing lately. But you guys have had our numbers the last couple of years so I would be happy with a 2-2 split out of this series.
