    Isn't that 11 players?
  3. I wish I'd played you last week. They all sucked last week. Did Dillon even play last week? Oh well, all good things must come to an end. At least I got blown out and never had hope.
  4. I'm starting to warm up to Furcal. Bottom line is he will help the Cubs win more games than any other available option at SS. Nomar's likely to get hurt again. Cedeno's a good, cheap option, but isn't gonna be on Furcal's level right away. The price tag is scary, but the Cubs can afford to pay it and still fill the other holes on the team. In a perfect world, we could sign Furcal and have Ronny play the Neifi role in 2006 of backup 2B, SS and 3B. Perfect would be a trade for Lugo. Keep him for 1 year, have Ronny play the super IF sub role and then be able to take over SS in 07 with little dropoff.

  6. I think Cedeno's career will be very similar to Lugo's. Despite the turnaround season in AA and the huge AAA 1/2 season, I think Cedeno is gonna be a late bloomer. I think if Cedeno started everyday in 06, he would be a .260 ish hitter, with an OBP in the .320s, and slug just under .400. I think his upside is of a .280s hitter with a .340-.350 OBP and low-to-mid .400s SLP. Not gonna be the elite SS in the league, but could be a very productive player in the top 1/3 of the league at his position.
  7. Man, I want that Cleveland game back. Get the right call on the Benson "fumble" and the Bears are fighting for home field advantage! The Skins game was very winnable too.
  8. NUT!!! Big win. The Bears are in the driver's seat. I couldn't take another loss to an inferior team.
  9. Pen 'em Maynard.
  10. Huge sack by Alex Brown (where has he been all year). Takes Lions out of Hanson range. And another good punt. Bears just need to get out of the shadow, not make any mistakes, punt the ball away and hope for OT.
  11. No. Brett Farve would probably be a no-name if that was the case.
  12. If the Bears lose, it's because they want to.
  13. Urlacher has been the best LB in football this year.
  14. If Furcal is re-signed, I think you could see Andruw and/or Chipper available too. If they give Furcal close to $10M, I bet they would be dying for someone to take on Chipper's contract. Estrada would be a darkhorse to be available too.
  15. My 2 cents: Rusch is a decent option. But if he's gonna be in the rotation, I'd rather spend a few million more for better production. If he's gonna be in the pen, I'd rather spend a few million more.....for better production. He won't likely be overpaid. He just won't be a bargain or steal like he had the chance of being this past season. The Cubs will get what they pay for. They could get more by paying for more. The Cubs are in a position where more production should be the objective.
  16. It all depends in which direction they want to go. They have Connor Jackson, Carlos Quentin, Shawn Green, Luis Gonzalez and Tony Clark for 1b and the corner outfield positions. With Glaus on the books for third base, that pushes Tracy into that mix as well. They need to move someone, but it's anyone's guess what they will do. I don't think Arizona's situation gets any clearer until a GM is hired. At that point, he will have a lot of decisions to make on who stays and who goes. They could use a CF and if we're going to unload Patterson, I might guage their interest in him and see what would have to be added to him to bring a return of either Tracy or Quentin. Any chance of them putting Tracy back at 3B when they inevitably trade Glaus this offseason? He's bad defensively there, though.
  17. The shorter you can make a game, the better. I know Baker doesn't have the history behind him, but if you have 3-4 strong options to go to in the 7th, you don't have to run Zambrano out there with 122 pitches. Sometimes I just couldn't completely blame him when his only options sucked. Of course, if he used the bullpen more wisely, maybe they wouldn't have sucked so much. I think the best way to get around this would be to get a bunch of quality arms out there. If you have a few $3-5M relievers, you are gonna get them regular work. If guys like Wuertz and Ohman are performing, you are gonna get them work. But yeah, the bottom line is to throw more strikes as a pitching staff. Especially in relief. The starters who have had the occassional problems with the walks are good enough to limit the damage. The pen is not.
  18. Totally agree, the Cubs should look at Patterson and learn from their mistakes. I agree also, but I'm so tired of reading about Patterson's lack of bunting ability as a knock. How many other players have hit 20 HRs in the Southern League and gotten knocked for not bunting well enough?
  19. Some ugly K totals there. Save for Guzman and Coats.
  20. Marcus Giles, Vlad Guerrero, Victor Diaz, Khalil Greene.....available for pitching, prospects, etc.
  21. Yeah, if you trade Ramirez or Lee, you would have to fill at least 2 holes in return. For the Cubs to be improved in 06, they would have to get much better at another position (SS, 2B, OF) and take a marginal hit at 1B or 3B. I wouldn't trade either unless I got an elite young player (at one of those positions) and had a back pocket move to fill ARam's or Lee's position (i.e. bringing Nomar back cheaply at 3B).
  22. Red Sox make out in that deal.....literally!
  23. It's become more common to claim it than to be it, too....... in many instances. How on Earth could you possibly know that?
  24. Just like his analysis, this is wrong time and wrong place. Why?
  25. I hate the phrase "race card". First of all, comparing race relations to a card game is bad enough. Secondly, have we come so far in race relations that even remotely mentioning that racism still exists is so outlandish? As I have said in many threads on many message boards, it has become more taboo to claim racism than to actually be racist.
