  1. If he goes to the Cards for less than $10M. I will hurt someone. 2.5M for a middle IF bench player, on a team with several middle IFs (I'm including Furcal too), but won't go $10M for a game-changing RF, on a team with 1 unproven OF and that's it.

The Knicks are to NY what the Clippers are to LA. I know the Nets are in NJ, but I can see the Knicks completely losing their celebrity clientele real soon. They are the worst NBA franchise right now. No direction.
  3. Boras is good at his job. Rosenhaus is a jerk. And I agree with ndistops. Boras keeps his mouth shut.
  4. I wouldn't want Fontenot playing everyday if Ramirez went down. While power isn't the Cubs problem, you can't really replace your cleanup hitter with a #2/#8 guy in the lineup for an extended period of time. Replace power with power.
  5. I'd jump all over that first one. I'd like all 3. Kip needs a change of scenery. He's the type of guy Larry could help turn the corner more consistently.
  6. Probably not anymore. Doesn't have the athletic ability he used to have. I assume you are asking for the Cubs sake. Because every other team in baseball would keep him at 1B, because he's better than any other 1B in the league defensively.
  7. Heck yes, he could: Batting #5 .339/.431/.625/1.056 Batting #6 .382/.439/.674/1.113 Granted, this was 56 and 89 ABs respectively, but those numbers look pretty darn good to me. Yeah they do, but obviously they wouldn't hold up. The Cubs can and should do a lot better than Barrett in the middle of the order.
  8. Good deal for the Sox. Bad deal for Garland's fantasy value.
  9. I agree. It would signifigantly help the offense to have those 2 guys in front of Lee and Ramirez all season. Could Barrett bat 5th? Yeah, but still that's a huge hole in the lineup. A 5-8 of Barrett, Murton, mediocre RF, and Perez doesn't scare anyone. Hell, now that I think of it, Neifi would probably hit 5th.
  10. Branyan would be nice. He can play 3b, 1B and corner OF. Big time OBP guy, big time power. I give him the edge over Sweeney because of his ability to play 3B.
  11. Six of one, half dozen of another. Murton's arm isn't great either. Not sure who's arm is better between the two. Neither's a great fit in RF, IMO. Home runs seem about right. I think the avg and obp are a bit low. He's a perfect fit in the offense, though. That's all that matters to me.
  12. Zito's gone after a year. I wouldn't give up much for him.
  13. Furcal and Pierre could be really good for the Cubs. If Pierre can get back to his .360-370 OBP days (contract year), and Furcal can continue his string of .350ish OBP work, that's a lot of speedy baserunners for Lee and Ramirez. A solid 1-4, although probably not as productive as they'll get paid to be. The Cubs still need a 5-hitter. Right now, Murton is the guy protecting Ramirez. A bat in RF is still the biggest need on this team. I could settle for Bradley, because I truly believe he is gonna get back to at least the .875 OPS range if not .900. LA isn't a great place to hit, and he was on his way there before missing so much time this season.
  14. Williams and Patterson to LA for Bradley.
  15. Why is Nocioni starting over Deng? Deng is the biggest key to this team IMO. He's the guy that has the upside to make up for some of the points Curry took with him. The same reason why Duhon is starting over Gordon. Skiles. I actually don't mind Gordon off the bench. But Deng on the bench is ridiculous.
  16. Eyre would be great. He and Ohman could be a good LH tandem out of the pen.
  17. Why is Nocioni starting over Deng? Deng is the biggest key to this team IMO. He's the guy that has the upside to make up for some of the points Curry took with him.
  18. If Z and Burnett were the same age, I'd consider it. But Z's five years younger then AJ, and eight years younger than Abreu. He's also been the Cubs best starter over the past three seasons. Zambrano would be a great fit in Philly. But I wouldn't trade any mid-20s pitcher with that much talent, for any hitter approaching his mid-30s, no matter how good he is.
  19. Huff: .321/.428/.749 Burnitz: .322/.435/.757 Near as I can tell, they are the same player. Burnitz is older; Huff is a whiner. My conclusion: stay away from both! Burnitz can at least play the OF with competence too. Huff has had much better years, but he scares me.
  20. I don't think Furcal will pick 2B for the Mets over SS for the Cubs. If the money is equal, I think you're right. On the other hand, I've gotten wind of a far-fetched rumor that has the Mets dealing Matsuii in the above deal, dealing Reyes for Soriano, and then signing Furcal to play SS. Wow. That would be interesting.
  21. Heard about that. That's sweet.
  22. I don't think Furcal will pick 2B for the Mets over SS for the Cubs.
  23. No. The problem is defense and the 1-2 spots in the order. Murton and Walker are too slow and white to hit there. Everyone knows that!
  24. McGee and John Candelaria were the missing links. Rivaled by Jon Lieber, Gary Gaetti and Zane Smith But I'll stop threadjacking this into another "Ugliest Ballplayer" discussioon Ooh, Zane was hideous!
