  1. Surprised the Cubs have hit Wainwright that well. He's a real good pitcher. I need some Cedeno in this game, but of course, Theriot has good numbers vs. Wainwright and had 3 hard hits yesterday, so that's not gonna happen, unless it's at the expense of Derosa. If Johnson is going to be in the lineup, he needs to hit at the top. His approach is a lot better near the top of the lineup than it has been whenever he's hit 8th. Pie needs to be in there anyway, but I don't know how likely that is.
  2. Lou (and most fans) remember.... -Reed Johnson made the best catch of the year. The Cubs are 16-3 when he starts. He's such a spark plug. -Pie made the last out to lose the game today. Pie looked back striking out vs. a sidearming lefty last night.
  3. No he hasn't actually. He started off 5-10, but is 0-7 since with 5 strikeouts and a GIDP. Good enough for .294/.386/.471. He started out 5-10 when he started 3 days in a row. Since then, he's started once in the past 6 games and has gone 0-7 with 5 Ks and 2 BBs. I posted 5-10 and 0-7, but I calculated 4-18. Nevermind me.
  4. No he hasn't actually. He started off 5-10, but is 0-7 since with 5 strikeouts and a GIDP. why is everyone slamming on pie? he didn't start today... so...what exactly did you want him to do? his at bat to end the inning was a disaster either... i am confused pointing out a fact.
  5. No he hasn't actually. He started off 5-10, but is 0-7 since with 5 strikeouts and a GIDP.
  6. I'm the banner not the bannee. Who was a mod first? actually you were, but shut up!
  7. I know Marmol hadn't pitched for nearly a week that's why he came in yesterday....but it really sucks if there is a close game tomorrow. I think he could still go 1 inning or get a tough out or 2 if needed tomrorow.
  8. for some reason today... nsbb.com will not work. I have to have it all spelled out for it to work. I kept getting server errors on the shortened way. I thought the site was down til about noon.
  9. Lou, from now on...that's how you use Marmol! Of course, been better off to not start Zambrano that inning w 105 pitches....but ish happens.
  10. Steve Phillips was suggesting that the Cubs do that if they are going to keep Soriano hitting leadoff. Makes sense, but not as much sense as......not hitting him leadoff.
  11. 2b Weeks CF Cameron 3B Braun 1B Fielder RF Hart 3B Hall SS Counsell P Gallardo C Kendall vs. LF Soriano SS Theriot 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Fukudome 2B Derosa C Soto CF Johnson P Zambrano Both managers must be serious, starting their catchers in a day game after a night game.
  12. I do too. But I'm weary of big backs like Beanie. He's Eddie George with more speed. While George had a nice career, he took a lot of hits at the next level and had a short span as an elite RB.
  13. if you don't know about the jinx, the jinx doesn't work. Kinda like if you don't believe in Voodoo it won't affect you.
  14. Gallardo made 1 start vs. the Cubs last year. Rich Hill allowed a 5-run Brewer first inning. Cubs come back to win 6-5, on a 2-run, 2 out HR from Aramis Ramirez on a game that stayed on my DVR until Game 3 of the NLDS ended. I'll take a similar result today, without that 5 run headstart from Milwaukee.
  15. Link Seriously though, Tebow in the top 10 is a joke. http://nfldraft.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=802821 No Vontae Davis...he could be the top corner in next year's draft. Oh, and Andre Smith is too low at 19. And I like Marks, I think he'd be a great prospect. Still, fun to see a year in advance. I'm interested to see what McCoy does this year. His yards were tough to come by toward the end of last year, but he looked like the best all-around back in the country last year to me. Decent size. 4.4 speed. He caught 33 passes out of the backfield. And showed he could be a workhorse with 30+ carries vs. WVU last year. Oher is a stud tackle. He'd been a 1st rounder if he came out this year, and probably would be a Bear right now, as I rated him above Williams. Another strong OT draft, and the Bears could have their franchise bookends by this time next year. Davis and Jenkins will battle all year and in the combine to be the #1 CB next year. Safety class will be insane next year, with anywhere from 5-8 guys possibly going on Day 1. Defensive end class will again be strong, packed with pure pass rushers.
  16. No they wouldn't. Neither can play CF well at all anymore. Wilkerson royally sucks.
  17. They do have a crappy lineup, and they do have a crappy pitching staff. But just like in 2006, it's not stopping them from outperforming those pesky little facts. And they don't even have Eckstein anymore.
  18. Eli, Ben, and Palmer are all franchise QBs. Vick was a franchise QB before..... The 3 guys from the 02 class and Boller are probably the only true busts. But Pennington, Leftwich, Losman, and Grossman all have failed to come close to expectations. Russell's the only one with a better than average chance to be a franchise QB.
  19. ....Why take a FB in the first round?.... lol He's not an NFL QB. Can he even throw?
  20. He looked real good there. He looked a lot like a young Marcus Allen. Bigger, but similar speed and running style. Robert Smith comparison still fits, but he looks a lot tougher than the thespian ever was. He looked like he has the ability to shed some tackles and power through a few people. But he didn't look very fast to me, and he didn't look to have much side-to-side ability. He looks like a decent straight-line runner from that vid, but certainly nothing spectacular. Admittedly, I don't know much about him yet. Definitely more of a straight line guy. But so was Marcus Allen. He has the vision to make his cuts behind the line, find the hole, and hit it hard. He's big enough that I don't mind him NOT juking the crap out of DBs when he gets beyond the 2nd level. Probably not a true HR hitter, as he can't turn nothing into something, but give him a hole, he'll find it and if he breaks free, he's fast enough that he won't be caught from behind.
  21. You can't compare Greene to a corner OF though. He's a SS. Find a SS that hits a ton of HRs and gets on base at a high clip. Now ask yourself, is Hanley Ramirez available? A Soriano type is not ideal in your corner OF. But at SS (or 2B which Alf was or CF where Alf started out as a Cub) is a position where that production is worth its weight in gold.
  22. I don't think the Cubs were ever going to send Pie. I think they were trying to give up a couple of middle of the road prospects for Greinke. It doesn't matter anyway, the Cubs would have him in the pen right now.
  23. Seriously? Jeff Suppan? The Cubs better beat him like the b**** that he is.
  24. Nice. Error Walk Walk Passed ball scores 1 Int walk Walk scores 1 Failure to turn 2 scores 1
