  1. Who? He was activated today? It sounded like he was 2 more weeks away... He was activated today. And Womack was officially released. Womack is better than Neifi I'm better than Neifi and I haven't played since little league
  2. Who got sent down so Angel could be recalled?
  3. Shipped where, on a Cubs cruise? The one game will be a 3 game winning streak at the end of the season. Further Predictions: Jacque to NYY Pierre to Boston Maddux to LAD Williamson to Pads One of Eyre or Howry to WSox You heard it (Beer)here first. I will hate Hendry if he gives up either Howry or Eyre now that he finally has a dependable bullpen---especially to the WSox where they could have the chance to win another title.
  4. A single by Cedeno and a SAC fly (which isn't too much to ask for) the score would be 6-5, regardless of the OBP difference.
  5. I guess this means if the Cobs were batting, they would not have scored? BCB Actually just heard the most asute thing to come out of Ronnie's mouth in a while....after Pat said the Cubs need baserunner, Ronnie followed saying "We need some guys to drive them in." We've had the same chances the Sox have had, the only problem is that they get the clutch hits while we are left clutching our bats
  6. Figures...we're going to get beat by Juan Flippin Uribe, a guy batting .237 (even after his hits today). Meanwhile Cedeno couldn't tie with a single, Walker couldn't get a SAC fly, and D-Lee just missed a HR.....Ah, to be a Cubs fan. I'd rather run around the desert in a car with a bumper sticker that says "Honk if you're for the Taliban" while dodging a 500 pound smart bomb!
  7. Should JP have gone? (Couldn't tell on the radio)
  8. We've given JP a lot of grief the first three months of the season, but I still hope he breaks out of it soon. He seems like a good guy and a hard working player. Now let's bring him in!!!
  9. Why is it that we can never seem to come up with a clutch hit? Instead we let the mediocre Garland off the hook again.
  10. So let me see, it's Dusty's fault that our closer (who is paid to come in and CLOSE games) gives up a single and a walk before he fails to even field a sac bunt. If I didn't know any better, I'd think Dempster was blowing these games on purpose. That's how bad he has gotten.
  11. I know there have been many pathetic Cubs teams for me to choose from in my 28 years as a Cubs fan, but this might be the worst. What makes it so painful is that this team has much more than than some of the dregs in the early 80s and 90s. We didn't have anyone like D-Lee and the potential of guys like A-Ram, Prior, Wood and Zambrano to bring hope to Wrigley. That's what makes this truly sick and it gets my vote for worst team in my lifetime.
  12. If Dusty is such a great motivator, I'd hate to see how bad we'd be with a laid-back reserved manager? As much as I hate to admit it, I wonder how we'd be with Ozzie calling games right now. Sure, this team has holes, but we do have the talent to be playing much better than we are right now. How someone who gets paid for baseball insight can defend a manager who has "led" the Cubs to a combined score of 24-3 the last four games is beyond me.
  13. The only thing getting me through this miserable excuse for a baseball season is my favorite AL team, the Boston Red Sox. I've been a fan since Bill Buckner was traded to the Sox back in 84 and even liked watching Yaz, Fisk and Rice before that. Red Sox fans and Cubs fans are one in the same---except for the one very important thing, fans in Beantown have enjoyed the sweet taste of World Series champaigne, while we've been left to suffer the taste of warm Old Style. I'm to the point where I really don't care if the Cubs win another game this season, because I'll be pulling for Big Papi, V-tek and Schill to knock off the southsiders come this October!
  14. You don't win a game in which you're one-hit without being lucky. Every single thing goes the White Sox way. Sure, good teams might make their own luck, but this is ridiculous.
  15. It's been the rookies, the veterans, the washed-up-has-beens, the manager, and coaches' fault that this has fast become the worst Cubs team in 20 years. What makes this team worse is that we are underachieving, whereas past Cubs teams just haven't had any talent. Frankly, there isn't one player on this team that hasn't disappointed me this year.
  16. Down 9-1, the Sox get 7 RBI in two innings from a guy who had only 30 in 74 games before tonight.....two out bottom of the 9th and they get a grand slam to tie it. You tell me whether they are blessed or not. Oh, and Taguchi just scored more runs than the Cubs did in an entire weekend... Boy it sucks to be a Cubs fan
  17. Come on, you've been on this site long enough to know better than to use wins as a meaningful stat. Yeah, the Cubs and the fanbase doesn't seem to be too interested in wins.
  18. No really....How else do you explain game winning hits from players like Cintron, Uribe and the like? Or how about Podsednick hitting only his second HR of the season for a grand slam. Or Buerlie giving up 7 first inning runs a few weeks ago but still winning the game? As much as it pains me to admit it, they do have a great team. But how do we explain how every possible action on the field seems to go there way? They don't get hurt, they get clutch hits out of weak hitters and they somehow find a way to win a game even though they only manage one hit.......meanwhile, we are left with the exact opposite on the north side, a team that can do absolutely, positively nothing right.
  19. This has got to be the absolute worst lineup the Cubs have put on the field in 20 years. When the best BA in your first four hitters is .254 and you can't made a better DH than the .220 hitting Mabry, you know you're doomed. This team is unwatchable these days...
  20. Any beaning of AJ is a good beaning in my book! (Except at his head of course)
  21. Works everytime! I decide not to follow the game, but I check the score and if they happen to be wining, within the next few minutes they blow it. Moral: If i'm not following the game, just leave it be. Thanks for stopping by!
  22. Great to see a solid performance by Prior. Now, all I want on Father's Day besides good time with my kids is a W by Prior!
  23. You know how they say that the average American views 3,000+ advertising messages a day? Heck, you can get that many in a simple 3-hour baseball game at the Cell or so many other "modern" ballparks. If I wanted to see that many ads, I'd duck tape my head to my TV. We need to remember that modern doesn't mean good. What makes Wrigley the best stadium in all of sports is that you get to watch the game in its purest form, without the ear-splitting ACDC, revolving advertising billboards, pizza races, the "hey, let's watch the stupid people wave at the camera" cams, stock tickers, t-shirt shooters, Mr. T promos (courtesy of the Cell), and oh yeah, a friggin US Cellular phone store! Give me a cold Bud, a brat and baseball----the way it's meant to be viewed.
  24. Good win by the Cubs today....especially considering our most potent hitter in the lineup was either Walker or Barrett and we had a rookie pitcher on the mound. We came in and took 3 of 4 from a very hot Reds team....nice job! Let's keep it going!
