  1. I feel for the guy. I was really looking forward to watch him coming outta the pen..... I feel bad for Woody, but at this point we need to move on, as painful as it might be.
  2. Couldn't disagree more. What'd be the point? To get rid of an undependable (or is it non?) and injury-proned pitcher who is trying to change positions on the staff. If he weren't a Cub but some FA off the street, would you want to sign him? probably not. but he's already signed, so your question is pointless. Why is that a pointless question? It gauges his value to us if he wasn't the former Kid K who many of us thought was the heir to Nolan Ryan. I would rather have a guy who is going to stay healthy and be decent than a guy who probably will get hurt (quickly) but has a chance to be excellent. It is pointless because they have to pay him either way. They can A) Pay him and have some small chance of him contributing positively. 2) Pay him and have no chance. Other than the 40-man roster spot, there is no difference in cost between the two options. As much as I'd hate to do it, if it turns out that Woody needs some significant time to heal his shoulder, we need to move on. Give him an injury settlement or whatever, but Wood and Prior are both distractions that we don't need anymore. Wood has now had three injuries in this camp alone, while Prior has had one good performance in four. Sometimes, as hard as it is to do, you have to move on.
  3. That's what happens when you're off the juice
  4. Anyone else not able to find the game on XM? I thought it was going to be on 183?
  5. I'd prefer later in the day on Sunday. If we draft at 2 CDT, you're going to find a number of people in the middle of family activities, etc.
  6. We could just start the draft via this board, and I bet we could get through the thing in the next week. Otherwise, let's confirm the live draft (w/ autopick option) for next Sunday at 5 Chicago time.
  7. I'm okay with either a live draft (perferably later at night when the kids are in bed, say 8:30 or 9) or via the board. Looking forward to a good season with fellow Cubs fans...
  8. Maybe we should at least give him a week into the regular season before we call him a waste, huh?
  9. I know it's spring training, but the same thing happens all the time during the season as well.....does anyone else wonder how a team goes from getting shut out on 4 hits one day, to scoring 27 runs the next, and then goes back to looking bad the next day? Facing a rather hot or cold pitcher plays a role, but it seems like entire teams either get hot or cold sometimes.
  10. I'm game if there are still openings.
  11. Can we just fast forward to this point and get it over with? His act of badmouthing anyone and everyone and then playing all innocent got old a while ago. Any chance Lou throws a base at Ozzie's head during the crosstown classic? We can hope, can't we?
  12. Here's a link to the Cubs stats on CBS Sportsline: http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/teams/stats/CHC I'm sure you can get team stats from CBS as well.
  13. Is Floyd's defense, or lack there of, going to cost him starts? Good news for Murt!
  14. This comment from a Sox fan pretty much sums up their moronic fanbase: You are so off-base. The Cubs threw tons of money at ****ty pitchers with losing records. We just signed a market-level contract with a pitcher with ace-level stuff who is ready to settle in and win 18-22 games this year. You forget, the Cubs don't have Don Cooper working with pitchers and Kenny Williams making the decisions. Those two things make any comparison moot. Hilarious... Sure, he's somehow going to go from back-to-back 11 win seasons to 18-22 wins. And isn't Don Cooper still waiting for his first Cy Young winner? I know there are Cubs fans out there too, but this was just too much!
  15. Yeah so that didn't happen. Kinda slept through the game. How bad did the Cubs look today? Starters didn't look terrible-Hill with a solo homer given up, but looked pretty good otherwise. Soriano was 3 of 3 with 2 doubles, and Murton added a pair of BB's. The pitching later was simply awful. It wasn't really as bad as the 13-2 score indicated though, and the starting lineup for the Cubs still looks all right. Hitting was pretty bad as well. So far, I'm less than impressed, but I do know it's spring training.
  16. Anyone else think Ozzie threw Aardsma and Sisco today to give it to the Cubs a bit. He's a foul-mouthed, hot-headed a**, but I bet I'd like him if he managed my team. He's not afraid to give it to the other day.
  17. It's mostly the minor leaguers who are struggling here. I'm not trying to overreact, it's just that I'm sick and tired of always losing to the flippin Sox. And that was Ohman getting rocked by some no-name minor-leaguer, wasn't it?
  18. Boy, that 300 mill is sure doing wonders....why oh why can't we just beat down the Sox?
  19. A telling stat? Cubs have 2 runs on 5 hits meanwhile, the Sox have 6 runs on 5 hits I know it's early in ST, but I don't like that we are leaving too many runners in scoring position. It's bringing back bad flashbacks of us not being able to manufacture runs when it counts. On the positive... We're gonna love seeing Soriano in this lineup, great to see D-Lee hit one out even though he got jammed a bit and I thought Hill looked solid.
  20. Exactly-pretty much all the starting hitters have been decent so far (the only one that hasn't been good is Ramirez), and the pitchers who will be on the roster have been good as well-it's been many of the other pitchers who have struggled. Ramirez will continue to struggle till the end of May. If he has a second half like he did last year, I'll take him being terrible until the end of May :D I won't. You don't pay all-stars to show up two months into the season when you might arleady be burried in the standings. They need to play consistent throughout the season.
  21. I'm a semi-serious fantasy baseballer (fantasy football is my real game), but I've played baseball the last few years and have done well. I'd like to join a league with fellow Cubs fans who will take it seriously. I did a couple of public leagues on Sportsline and Yahoo last year, but most of the players didn't do a thing all year. Would love to join if you've got an opening. Thanks
  22. Let's hope SI doesn't pick the Cubs to win it all this year...then we'll know we are toast. Usually the SI jinx affects teams/players within a short period of time. So as long as no one else gets hurt falling out of hot tubs, catching fungos or fishing, we will be fine.
  23. He's done alright with landing A-Ram and D-Lee for a pile of junk. Sure, he's had his share of bad moves as well, but he has secured four players who are likely all-stars this year (D-Lee, A-Ram, Soriano and Barrett.
